This question is open to atheists and anybody else- Bearing in mind that Jesus said- "You're my friends if you follow me. I don't call you servants, but I call you friends....Whoever comes to me I'Il never turn away" (John 15:15, John 6:37) Where would you rate yourself on the scale below, and why?
I loved that JesusFlick! Mary, the mother, was a fox... Also, if I'm not mistaken, Jesus had played in The Wall. 10 BTW.
I have no fundamental problem with being buddies with people I disagree with, I have no objection to befriending Jesus. I wouldn't say that means I follow Jesus, but then I don't think that's what the statement says. I also don't think that this has happened, indeed, I think the relevant Jesus is irrevocably dead, but that turns out to be false, I could reconsider. There are other reasons I might not be friends with Jesus, but given the breadth of Christian scripture, I wouldn't rely on any particular Bible quote to determine that. If I was in a position to befriend Jesus, I would ask him about it, rather than relying on scripture. I don't know that that position lends itself particularly well to a one dimensional scale.
A political agitator with some unrealistic social ideals who believes God talks to him? I think I’d keep a healthy distance to be honest. Plus the whole feet-washing thing would just weird me out.
You have to know your metaphors = Table 3 A Few Euphemisms in Biblical Hebrew http://www.houseofdavid.ca/body_metaphors_bib_hebrew.htm
They had to kill off the idea of Jesus having a wife because if they didn't it would mean that people could claim that they were his descendants and thereby be worthy of veneration and special status. It would have made the Pope irrelevant.
That picture looks like Satan. Everyone know what Jesus looks like and that's not him. http://www.bricktestament.com/revel..._on_tiny_mediterranean_island/rv01_14-16.html
Now that actually makes sense. The organized religion that arose long after the death of Christ was not a religion of Christ at all. Instead it was a religion about Christ, which is 180 from what it should have been. That is what explains so much killing done in his name.
When the Church got power around 325 they set out on a centuries long course of knowledge destruction and illiteracy. What were they trying to hide ?
There is a fair bit of written material from that time. The Romans were prolific writers. Much of what we know about some of the early Church fathers comes from Eusebius.
We don't know if Jesus had a wife or not. We know Mary Magdalene wanted to be his girlfriend though. He told her to buzz off on many occasions though.
Back then everyone wore sandals. Their feet got dirty. Washing of feet was common at any doorstep. Sort of like washing our hands today. Plus when you wash your feet your hands get washed too.
