The left is falling for Trump's voter fraud bait

What's the top political story right now? There are a lot of juicy ones to choose from, but a quick look at the key newspapers, news websites, and cable news stations tells us that issue #1 is suddenly President Trump's claim that millions of votes were cast illegally for his opponents in the 2016 presidential election. The conventional wisdom says this is a black eye for the White House and a distraction from his agenda. Once again when it comes to all things Trump, the conventional wisdom is wrong.

The "experts" did have it half right. This voter fraud claim is a distraction alright. But it's not distracting President Trump. It's distracting almost everyone else from blocking and focusing on the Trump team's agenda, not the other way around.

But for President Trump, and a lot of conservatives with him, it gets better. The fact is that conservatives have tried to make allegations of widespread voter fraud a national front page story for about 20 years. They've demanded investigations into it. And they've had no real success. In fact, the counterclaim that there is no significant voter fraud has been taken so for granted that the case has rarely been made by Democratic Party politicians in public. It was basically a joke.

But now we have non-conservatives clamoring to talk about it all day and eager to see investigations launched to "prove" they're right. And that's a trap. First it's a trap because now almost any level of voter fraud that's discovered will elevate President Trump's claims from laughable to at least partially correct.

20 years ago sounds about right, Pay attention to the last sentence of the article below, the last time Congress conducted an investigation of voter fraud. And the investigation revealed that there is voter fraud taking place by the Democrats and their special interest groups.

The Congressional investigation only looked at one Congressional District in the last bastion of conservatism, that being Orange County, California. One could only guess what's taking place in other parts of the country.

One story that didn't get a lot of attention during Stein's request for recounts was Michigan's recount. Michigan found that more people voted than were registered voters in DETROIT's precincts. Couple that with the fact Detroit's voters went for Clinton at a rate of roughly 95 percent or so, while Trump carried Michigan by 10,000 votes. Only Saddam Insane ever got that high of percentage of votes.

Quoting the Detroit Free Press, "As a result, nearly 60% of Detroit's precincts weren't eligible for recount because the number of ballots in the ballot box didn't match the number of people listed as voting in the poll book."

That sounds like large scale voter fraud to me. Let dems explain to us WHY they fear an investigation into voter fraud. If it can be proven there's no voter fraud, then they get to say Trump doesn't know what he's talking about. HOWEVER, if dems are wrong, then they stand to lose more elections when voters are carefully scrutinized in the future. Me thinks they protest too much about voter fraud.

Fact is the "investigation" is a "fait acompli" in the view of the sitting US president. Trump will mandate federal voter ID requirements, and congress will cheer ...

The DNC will be cheering the RNC on by the end of the year.

I would say roughly 80% of the RNC is corrupt to the bone. 100% for the DNC.

 

The issue is voting.

Is Trump going to try to require that all absentee ballots be notarized?

These attempts at voter ID changes are made with the objective of disenfranchising voters.

 

An investigation has become important.

We can't have this end up as a "he said/she said" bit of nonsense where people can doubt our elections.

 

Trump tweeting about investigating people registered in two states when his top consultant was registered in two states and apparently in one of them he used an address of a coworker for which there is no evidence of him having ever lived there. It may have started off as bait, but he appears to have helped the press reel Bannon in.
