No, because once our Shuttle system was retired, we had no way to get our guys up there. The Russians helped us out in that regard, arguably for the good of mankind, even as we sanction Russia under false pretenses.

Yep, those money will be legally stolen, in order to make something, you have to increase a budget by 100%.

My budget would balance by not including federally funded charity and income redistribution

They helped the US bombing Iraq, at least provide air passage. Not sure about but even land passage or military bases? Refuel?

They are good as any when it comes to common interest.

They were arguably good allies during wars in history.

Retreating from part of Europe is one example for good but I wouldn't bet on any russians politicians or leaders to have the best of wishes for humans.

The most egregious of the sanctions under false pretenses event was MH17.

Others include Russia's taking back Crimea, with the solid support of Crimean voters.

MH17 was shot down by the russkis....pretty much agreed upon by everyone.

Crimea was a sham "referendum".....that was held under armed threat before the so called date. Also with absence of intl monitors...that's rather needed in that part of the world.

They were "allies" in the common interest to fight the Nazis.....but privately they distrusted each other.....they probably knew they would be enemies 2 years before end of ww2.

No, MH17 was shot down by cannon fire from an aircraft or two, likely Ukrainian aircraft. It was a false flag, so that Russia could be blamed. Mission Accomplished.

Your desperation is showing--the Crimean vote was strong to rejoin Russia and get out of the influence of Nuland's Goons.

:))...shot down by cannon fire from "aircraft or two"...."likely" ukranian aircraft? So, you're not even sure yourself, lol.Wow, that hypothetical assumption is really convincing.....no convincing links/sources to back that up other than some grainy pics of what looks like a video from a Playstation video game, provided by muscovia.

My desperation showing? Hardly, more like I'm amused.
Yeah...that "vote" was strong.....what was it? 112% in some place? Who was the 12%+....cats, dogs, dead people, pet hamsters?LOL.

It would make more sense to me to bring the astronauts home and abandon the space station. It appears to be a waste of money to me.

I agree - we should concentrate on a habitat on the moon. A station that orbits the moon could also play significant role in expansion of our missions into deep space.

Sorry, not for me. That would waste even more money. Space is interesting but not an appropriate thing for a country with a $21 Trillion debt.

Russia is a joke. They aren't even in the discussion for world power, trade power, and rely on their old arsenal for military power.

Ask some of the crew members of the USS Donald Cook how well their "old arsenal" works at disabling our Aegis system.

Yet another thread about bad, terrible, evil Russia...

Anyway, reasonable people learned a LONG time ago not to take anti-Russian propaganda at face value.

Perhaps there is some merit to this article's assertions, perhaps there is not.

I simply have zero trust in the mainstream US media to accurately portray the situation in Russia.

When given the choice between depicting Russia accurately and depicting Russia as a villain, they will choose villain every single time.

By the way, this propaganda piece is a great example of how schizophrenic anti-Russian narratives have become.

Anti-Russian bigots will say, out of one side of their mouths, that Russia is a culturally backwards, economically dysfunctional, second-rate power that is no match for the US. And out of the other side of their mouths, they paint Russia as the most dangerous entity on the planet, capable of disrupting and imperiling entire political systems throughout the west.

So which is it? Is Russia massively inferior to the US or is it contending with the US on somewhat equal terms? You cannot have it both ways.

    First Durandal and now you?

Why are some libertarians mysteriously going over to the neo-con darkside?

What facts? Do you mean the assertions being made by people in news articles?

Are you aware of the FACT that not every claim made by someone in a news article is accurate?

There are already a plethora of examples of the mainstream media reporting something about Russia that later turned out to be inaccurate, imprecise, and even outright false.

Given this, a reasonable person would take anti-Russian propaganda with a healthy dose of skepticism.

But if one is obsessed with hating Russia and hating Trump, then they will accept any assertion or narrative that paints Russia in a bad light.
