Looks like that much vaunted blue wave is turning into a blue riptide that will suck Democrats out to sea.

"Among the many contentious topics swirling around this year's campaign, none is more important than the perennial issue of employment. Voters who are employed are historically more likely to favor incumbents than those who are out of work.

That poses a major challenge for Democrats in 435 House districts and 35 Senate races who are looking to unseat Republican majorities in both chambers."

Yes and then again, no. Remember that everything except for presidential elections is local politics. It is therefore quite possible to love what the president of a certain party is doing for the nation and for one's pocket book while simultaneously swallowing enough leftist propaganda to substitute a nation-despising socialism inclined leftist politician for a proven nation loving pro-capitalism politician.

It just depends on the type and amount of leftist propaganda spewed and the timing of it; though I will be quite surprised if there is much by way of any blue political wave sweeping this nation at the end of this year, simply because Trumponomics IS going to be a huge factor in political decision making where the nation as a whole is concerned. Still all non presidential politics is . . . local. We shall see.

I don't think the economy will dislodge incumbent Democrats but it will make it very difficult for Democrats to dislodge incumbent Republicans. When people have jobs and money in their pocket they tend to not want to rock the boat.

I tend to agree. But we shall see.

Still a long time until the election and lots of things can happen but this economic prosperity has definitely taken the wind out of Democrats sails and has them on their heels. If Trump is successful in NK it's a knockout punch but as you said we shall see.

    Wishful thinking .

Americans know this is from Obama's economic policies. Trump hasn't had enough time to destroy the economy for Putin.

I don't pay much attention to numbers. What tells me something are things like old factories here opening back up after being closed since even before obama took office. That means jobs and not service sector jobs.

Doesn't matter who's responsible for the current economy, the current president always gets the credit or blame.

    Just the way it works.

That being said, it really only applies to Trump, as someone else said, the midterms are local and historically the power out of power picks up seats in a mid-term regardless of the economy. Democrats should pick up a few, not as many as they would like, but enough to keep talking about this mysterious wave of theirs that is coming.

2020 will be the big election and we will see if Trump is given a mandate or is tossed out.

No doubt that it is another blow to democrats. It leaves them with one less thing to attack republican for. What alternative can they offer, fewer jobs???????????

Do they? I seem to recall most Americans having short attention spans and little knowledge on what really causes anything in America. Assuming a knowledgeable constituency is what got Trump elected in the first place.

It's not even a blue pee in the wind. There is nothing they can say to "Trump" a good economy.
