This kinda thinking is why finding an intellectually honest democrat is like finding a wisdom tooth in a chicken. They have their ideas, but have to downplay them. So when you try debating one, it's just one fallacy after another. The only thing I'm not so sure about is whether they actually believe the nonsense they spew. If you try debating a particular aspect of their "philosophy" they refuse to go there.

Just remember, when debating a leftist online, you're never trying to convince the person you're arguing with, however, you're trying to convince the people who are reading your posts. A hard leftist is so brainwashed, that if their gods leaders told them to jump off a cliff then they would find some logical argument to do just that. With these people, the best way to argue with them is to say they are correct and your one of them, but then give reason and evidence to dispute their claims (never say they are idiots, they will simply tune out, and start calling you a racist, instead treat them like toddlers and break it to them slowly). There are some lefties are not so brainwashed, and with some reason and evidence can be convinced.

I agree that the hard core leftists are incapable of changing, and that there are people who might still retain the power of cognition that can be reasoned with. Where we disagree is in giving an inch to these people. No, I have nothing in common with the hardcore left. Maybe there are people reading this who might be left leaning and willing to consider the possibility that they are wrong. For those people, I truly welcome an intellectually honest debate. What I won't do is say that I have anything in common with the hard core leftists. I'm an old school "lefty" who thinks that freedom from government is a really cool thing. The ability to say what I want to say without the government saying that I can't say that, the freedom to defend myself, the freedom to keep what I work hard for without being forced to give it to the government so that some buttmunch in Washington knows how to spend my hard earned money better than the guy who worked and sweated to gain that money... I have as much in common with these lefties as I do with a cockroach in my kitchen. We both want the same food, but I have no compunctions with spraying the entire place down with raid, hiring professionals to get rid of the infestation, or whatever else needs to be done to rid the world of their ilk.

Yesterday was a brutal day at work. Leave home at 7 am, return at 10pm and I was simply exhausted. In other words, a pretty average day for me. I crawled into bed next to my wife who was already asleep because she had a hard day, too. So if any of you lefties want to tell me why we can't keep the money we work hard for wants to pipe up and explain why we shouldn't, I'm more than willing to hear you out. But just calling our desire to keep as much as we can "right wing bullshit" isn't exactly blowing any air up my skirt. Is it any wonder I despise lefties? I work hard for my money, but they have other plans because... because... "right wing bullshit". This is the extent of your ability to argue, and it's not only not good enough, but it hardens my heart towards you. I hate you! I have children who I love to help. I have neighbors who need a helping hand. I have some family members who could use some help, and I'd be more than willing to help. However, the lefties will say that I don't want to help them because I don't want to let the government decide how best to spend my hard earned money. And no lefty ever wants to go there. They have no arguments, no ability to debate, no... nothing except hatred, which I mirror. So... well there it is. See you buttmunches on the battlefield.
Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to convince you to head up the Marxism path. However, we have a lot more in common than you think. One of the major Marxist (hardcore leftists) arguments is that after some time, the constraints on society imposed by a socialist government can be lifted and thus have a stateless society (i.e no government). The idea is that a form of religion (how else do the values of socialism get past from generation to generation?) will keep everyone on in check once the government is abolished. That is the end goal for lefties. This is end goal is exactly what libertarians believe. The major difference is that Marxist believe that we need to create a huge government to fill the void left by the destruction of capitalism, only to tear it down later (who knows what will fill that void BTW!!!! This is one of the major contradictions of socialism). Libertarians, on the other hand, say well for the past 4,000+ years we have been through countless dictatorships, and massive governments, and well all of those have to lead to mass bloodshed, food shortages, and inhuman practices. Let's not go down that path again, just go directly to a stateless society, and have religion be the way we govern morals and values. So you have much more in common with a lefty than you think.
Sorry, but I'm a big fan of capitalism. That's kinda where we end in agreement. Your idea of creating this gigantic communist state and then waiting for it to break down so that it will be replaced with something else is going to end up with capitalism, because personal property rights is the default. In the meantime, how many hundreds of millions of deaths are you willing to say "adios" to in order to find out that I am correct? No, you've lost the argument because that nonsense has already been tried. People die in the hundreds of millions, and what pops up after the kim family of North Korea finally blazes out? Well you can wait to find out, but I'm thinking of all those poor sad sacks that have to live with what they have right now.
