People will remember that Bannon came over hoping to create a far right 'Movement' in Europe with a particular desire to gain a strong hold on the EU Parliament after the May elections. He hasn't been able to do very much as Italy and Holland are apparently the only two countries which allow a foreigner to work in this way - and Italy I think is intending on bringing in legislation to close this.

No doubt well rehearsed by Bannon, Italy is making its move

I am reminded of what Marx said about ideologies. He said they take a little bit of reality but they turn it upside down so that it becomes something else. That is what I think the far right capitalise on. I am reminded of a somewhat intelligent Guardian Reporter who Bannon was allowing to confront him. He said to Bannon the opening was there because people had a genuine reason to be fed up with their Governments. Bannon agreed. We should remember this was the same before WW2. He also told Bannon he did not believe Trump was a populist. When asked why he did not think so he said he believed Trump had already moved to being authoritarian. Bannon nodded.
