Face it, Donald Trump won't be president forever. If a Democrat is in the White House again in 2021 or 2025 and you see another Democratic trifecta like 1993-1995 or 2009-2011 you will see this:

    • Full funding of Planned Parenthood for women and men's healthcare (Men use PP too)
    • The Repeal of the Hyde Amendment, created by suburban conservative Henry Hyde to ban federal funding of abortions (That's gone)
    • Pell Grants
    • Gun control/no more AR15s or assault rifles
    • Slash Defense Spending by 15%
    • Slash ICE funding
    • Slash police department funding
    • Healthcare
    • Food stamps
    • Restorative and rehabiliative justice for black and brown bodies
    • Etc.
    Are you ready for this?

Am I ready for what, the major parts of this all sound pretty centrist. Actually being able to negotiate drug prices seems like common sense to me.

Its looking like Trump should handily win another term but after that I expect it to rotate back to the democrats and its certainly a given that many things will change.

This is actually how are system is designed and is one of the reasons we work so well.

A president takes us in one direction but then the other side comes in and swings us the other way.

It's like a big grandfather clock with the pendulum never going too far left or right and constantly passing over the middle more than the swings either way.

Our entire system was designed on the principle from the election of congress to how the president nominates judges and the Supreme Court.

So I imagine that much of what Trump will have accomplished will be changed and new issues that crop up will be handled differently than he would have done it and that's fine.

But every president makes changes that have a lasting impact either through their actual implementation or by their success with which they were developed.

If Trump is successful overall with tariffs I expect future presidents to use that more as an active tool then previous ones have.

I expect them all to use Twitter now to get their messages out because Trump set the standard for that medium.

I don't know what his impact will be yet exactly since that is history that isn't written yet but there will be some things that last.

Oh a big one is the fact that after 8 years if he is overall considered successful then I think that will open up the presidential field to all types of people and not just politicians.

It is already but they are rarely ever taken seriously, I think that will change.
