When you look at the polling numbers they reveal just how badly Trump lost this fight. Not only did he lose, but his bumbling ineptness benefited the Democrats generally and Pelosi in particular. I've not posted the whole article but if you follow the link below you'll see that even a Fox News poll showed Nancy beat him. In addition Americans now trust Democrats more when it comes to illegal immigration.

He could not have messed this up more.

Rest of the article and more polling data.

Trump folded like a Wal-Mart lawn chair.

He needed to fold. They had to get this act off the stage before rotten fruit started sailing. I have never seen so many consecutive blunders of one policy and strategy than this man committed in a 45 days. Every staged appearance, every interview, every tweet, every tactical ploy was mishandled, or butchered by him and his staff. He simply could not do anything right. It funny how some around here try to spin this as a tactical win. Utter shamelessness. They have no more pride than McConnell.

Trump voters wanted a businessman to drain the swamp. What they now realize they got is a clueless businessman who brought the swamp with him. No quality people will work for him any more and he has no political or management skills. This is only going to get worse.

Unfortunately, there are only two ways--neither especially likely, in my opinion--that the Trump administration may reasonably claim victory here:

    (1) There is an agreement reached during the 21-day window, that includes wall funding--with at least 50 percent of the requested 5.7 billion dollars upfront.

    (2) Failing that, President Trump shuts down the government again once 21 days have elapsed.

Frankly, I find #1 rather unlikely; and #2 even more unlikely, given the fact that far more people blamed President Trump than blamed the congressional Democrats for the government shutdown.

I do hope that I am mistaken.

The people who were out of work and not being paid were the ones who lost. The fat load in the White House still had his Big Macs and Filet of fish in bed in the White House every night.

This thread is like a report on a missing person who is actually home in bed with the flu.

    1. Trump let the information about the wall saturate into the minds of the citizenry.
    2. When he saw the polling go over 55% nationally, in favor of the wall, he felt it met his goal.
    3. Democrats on the committee are talking about how much funding for the barrier itself is appropriate.

Pelosi planted her flag on an issue that she had no realistic proposals on or alternatives for.

The question nbow remains, who much money will Trump get for a wall.

The last shutdown cost Dems the Senate, shutdowns always harm the intransigent party.

No wall no 2020 so it's complicated for Trump, but there are other ways. He could sign a treaty with a friendly power to ensure border security and bypass the House.

He's damn lucky the Dems lost their collective minds over Kavanaugh or he'd be all alone.

If Trump ran today, he would get hammered.

20 odd months is a long way away.

    Answer; zero Dollars.

Trump isn't gonna get his 5 or 6 billion Dollars for a wall that is not needed for a immigrants-crisis that does not exist.

Americans are safe in their homes from the fake threat of criminal immigrants. They are not, as Trump claimed, ''Ending up in places you wouldn't expect''.

Although Trump is hard at work brainwashing people to believe otherwise.

But the American people know better, these days, than to believe Trump's BS and so do the Democrats. So, no, Trump won't get his beloved billions to build his Utopian King Kong wall.

So any deal that the Dems and Reps strike that does not include Billions for a wall, will not be signed by Trump. (Even though he might now be under pressure by his own party to do so.) For if we have learned one thing about Trump it is that he can't stand losing.

Instead, he just cheats his way out of trouble.

Thus, observe Trump shutting down government again and declaring a national crisis.
A Constitutional crisis that will be, mind you...

Pelosi has a better approval than him, but not by much. She lost the most approval of any politician including Trump while the shutdown was underway.

The very fact that we are unable--or, at least, unwilling--to enforce our national borders (unlike any other country in the world) does, indeed, constitute a crisis--irrespective of what any illegals might or might not do.

Possibly the greatest affront to rational voters is the nonthinkers' reliance on statistical opinion mongering instead of actual, disciplined thought.

Well, many Democrats do not wish to enforce our Southern border--and cry "racism" whenever Republicans (or conservatives in general) indicate that we should do so.

That's also not true. Obama increased manpower to the most ever border patrol officers (21,000) and Democrats recently proposed improvements to security at the border. Just not a wall.

The second sentence is a non sequitur; it has nothing at all to do with the Democrats' incessant cries of "racism'' whenever Republicans propose a wall along our Southern border.
