    "Death to Israel"

Would you make peace with someone who is calling for your death? Of course not. That simple fact is the reason why peace is currently impossible in the Middle East.

Israel will not die without a struggle, so the situation for us third parties is simple, binary: We must either support the destruction of Israel, or support a change in the attitude of the Palestinians.

Let's be clear: "destruction of Israel" means at least expulsion of the Jews (to where??)... if not their outright murder. It's hard to know where Palestinian calls for "death to to the Jews" are rhetoric and where they are pragmatic intent. In any case, it would be absurd to imagine "peace negotiations" between Israel those calling for "death to the Jews!"

What about the Palestinian Authority / Fatah? They are not calling for "death to the Jews". Not any more, at least... although they used to... not very long ago. I suppose the most reasonable path would be to give the PA some degree of autonomy in Judea / Samaria, in order to see if they could manage both being in power and being a good neighbor, at the same time.

Oh, wait! That is exactly what is happening...

Let's do a quick reality check. (I know, I know, "reality" is so-o-o-o last century... but hey! I grew up "dealing with reality"...)
    - In the Middle East, the Arab men with the highest level of human rights and political rights and judicial rights are... Israeli Arabs. As for Middle Eastern women...
    - Among the next best situations for Middle Eastern Arabs is... Judea / Samaria... under the distant auspices of... Israel.
    - Among the worst situations, with dissent against the current power structure immediately and brutally repressed, is Gaza, under Hamas control.

    - Israel could annex whatever part of Judea / Samaria it wishes, whenever it wishes. No one would stop it. The two Arab states that might have the military power to do so, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, have other priorities. Israel does not want to annex Judea / Samaria because it is a demographic poison pill.

Israel has long since engaged a "one-and-a-half states" solution, whether by intent or by "path of least resistance". In another two decades, Gaza will still be a mess, because that is what Hamas needs it to be in order to stay in power. In another two decades, Judea / Samaria will be reasonably prosperous... if the PA doesn't screw things up.

And what should America be doing? Bill Clinton brokered a handshake a couple decades ago. America has accomplished nothing more, since then.

    Stay out.

The "Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan" is a ruled by a particular Bedouin family because... their now-distant ancestors helped the British defeat the Turks in World War I. (Lawrence of Arabia, and all that!) There aren't very many Bedouins left in our modern world, so the "Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan" is in fact populated primarily by "Palestinians". The territory of the "Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan" consists of about three-quarters of the original "Palestinian Mandate" from the League of Nations to Great Britain, intended to give a homeland to the world's Jews, while not harming the existing Muslim population.

So... a "Palestinian state" already exists.

I've come across two very interesting articles recently, in al Jazeera:

Don't blame Trump for tiring of the two-state solution is from a British university professor, saying much the same things that I have just said. The important point is that it is quite even-handed... and it is published by al Jazeera, whose every opinion piece has political significance.

Donald Trump and the death of the two-state solution. The next day, this opinion piece appeared. It was written by another scholar... but one with connections. His wife is descended from Lloyd George, British Prime Minister at the time of the Balfour Declaration. It is highly political. While it gives lip service to Israeli responsibility for peace, it also -- and this is the important bit -- lays responsibility on the Arabs. And this is published by al Jazeera!

A third piece appeared the next day. Not as well written. But three articles in three days, published by al Jazeera... hmmmmmmmm...................

    They weren't Bedouin.......

Lord Balfour was an ardent Christian Zionist under the influence of the Scofield heresy.

So you have two beside-the-point comments.

    Do you have anything substantive?

Yes. Husseini was the Emir of Mecca.. never a Bedouin family. He was a sell out.. he backed the Zionists in exchange for thrones for himself and his sons in Syria, Iraq and Jordan.. He was a mental case and given to fits.

He's the reason the Great Arab Revolt was such a dud and why TE Lawrence left after six months in disgust. He'd been sent to Arabia on a fool's errand.. The Brits backed the wrong guy.

That's very interesting... and I'll be happy to change my text to "leader of Bedouins"... but that really is not important.

Do you have anything substantive to say about the actual topic of the OP?
Hint: the "topic" is sometimes found in the title of the article; when the same words are then repeated in the body of the article, they're probably the "topic". In this case, the "one-and-a-half state solution".

Husseini really had NO following or support among the Bedouin. He was a mentally ill prisspot.. given to fits. The tribes backed Ibn Saud.

Fine. Wonderful. I'll be happy to rewrite that totally irrelevant part of my text in any way that you might dictate.

That said... Do you have anything to say about the actual topic of the OP? About a "one-and-a-half state solution"?

Or are you just trying to derail by shifting the subject of conversation?

Jordan's population is 70% to 80% Palestinian Bedouins.
Same as Syria, a minority control the state..
I'm sure that one day the Arab winter will reach Jordan, Palestinians will take over and establish their "Palestine".

You need to be called on your use of the term "Zionist". You say it as if it is a negative thing, as if it has some meaning which implies moral or political rottenness.

In fact Zionism is the movement for independence of the Jewish homeland. That's it, nothing more. It is a liberation movement. It is no more evil than the desire of Kurds for a free Kurdistan, or of Tibetans for freedom from China.

The opposition to Israel is mostly from ardent Moslems who hate Jews...

Mandatory Palestine was partitioned, and even after several wars of aggression by the Arabs which resulted in the Jews taking more territory, the bulk of the territory remains in Arab hands. The Palestinian state exists, and it is larger than Israel. It is called Jordan.

Don't like Israel? Cross the river and live in utopian bliss among your Arab brethren, then.

al-Husseini created the modern pattern of genocidal terrorism against Jews. He concocted plans to murder Jews in the countryside, to poison the water, etc.

He also was an advisor to Hitler, and helped craft the Final Solution. He was a Nazi war criminal who organized Waffen SS units in the Mideast to kill Jews.

And he was the creator of the imaginary "Palestinian" people and nation, a handy tool to use against the Zionists.

Yes, the "Palestinian" cause was created by a Nazi as a companion piece to the Final Solution. Arabs killing Jews in Israel today are in fact continuing to carry out the Nazi Final Solution.
