In Words and Deeds: The Genesis of Israeli Violence

    by Ramzy Baroud

Not a day passes without a prominent Israeli politician or intellectual making an outrageous statement against Palestinians. Many of these statements tend to garner little attention or evoke rightly deserved outrage.

Just recently, Israel’s Minister of Agriculture, Uri Ariel, called for more death and injuries on Palestinians in Gaza.

“What is this special weapon we have that we fire and see pillars of smoke and fire, but nobody gets hurt? It is time for there to be injuries and deaths as well,” he said.

Ariel’s calling for the killing of more Palestinians came on the heels of other repugnant statements concerning a 16-year-old teenager girl, Ahed Tamimi. Ahed was arrested in a violent Israeli army raid at her home in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh.

A video recording showed her slapping an Israeli soldier a day after the Israeli army shot her cousin in the head, placing him in a coma.

Israeli Education Minister, Naftali Bennett, known for his extremist political views, demanded that Ahed and other Palestinian girls should “spend the rest of their days in prison”.

A prominent Israeli journalist, Ben Caspit, sought yet more punishment. He suggested that Ahed and girls like her should be raped in jail.

“In the case of the girls, we should exact a price at some other opportunity, in the dark, without witnesses and cameras”, he wrote in Hebrew.

This violent and revolting mindset, however, is not new. It is an extension of an old, entrenched belief system that is predicated on a long history of violence.

Undeniably, the views of Ariel, Bennett and Caspit are not angry statements uttered in a moment of rage. They are all reflections of real policies that have been carried out for over 70 years. Indeed, killing, raping and imprisoning for life are features that have accompanied the state of Israel since the very beginning.

This violent legacy continues to define Israel to this day, through the use of what Israeli historian Ilan Pappe describes as ‘incremental genocide.’

I don't think there need to be any further clarifications, this is as clear and factual as it gets.

Yeah, cry me a river! Little Israel controls #1 world power - the USA! Hard to believe, but read the facts here:

Jewish Dominance Of America - Facts Are Facts

The USA in 1999 is under that same degree of Jewish domination that Weimar Germany was under in 1929.
Jews totally dominate the film industry.
The news and communications industry is a Jewish kingdom.
The American financial industry is essentially a Jewish franchise.
And the professions are so dominated by Jews, it is shocking.
An Israeli company does the entire billing for most of America's cell/regular phone systems.
An Israeli company created, installed and maintains the absolutely HIGHEST level of secure communications in the Pentagon and White House.
Israel controls security at key US military, nuclear, water, airports & FBI

So, what do you think of that?
How many atom bombs does tiny Israel have?
How many do the 22 Arab countries have?
On who's behalf are all the countries around Israel being destroyed?

You sure hate them .. Don't you ?
You forgot to mention that ONLY 8 or so Arab / Muslims won the Nobel Prize.. from 1.6 billion Muslims in the world !!
Your envy of the thriving tiny Jewish state is what keeps you inferior in terms of education, quality of life, human rights.
    Keep blaming everyone but yourself!
    Good luck !!

Here we have a typical Zionist Jew reply. Nothing about what the poster wrote, just accusations of hate and attempting to shift blame from the Zionist Jewish colonialists to their victims. When will you understand that it is not envy of Israel it is anger at a state created by terrorists that continues to brutally suppress the indigenous population of Palestine.

What has the number of Nobel prizes Muslims have got to do with the plight of the occupied territories.

My Arab friends , I'm Christian from Belgium.
Most Muslims hate Christians also ...
I and many others believe that Arabs occupied the holy land.
    Deal with it.

Firstly, what about all the hatred that comes from the Israeli side?

'Nurit Peled-Elhanan, an Israeli professor of language and education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has studied the content of Israeli school books ... and her account, Palestine in Israeli School Books: Ideology and Propaganda in Education, describes what she found as racism– but, more than that, a racism that prepares young Israelis for their compulsory military service" ... In "hundreds and hundreds" of books, she claims she did not find one photograph that depicted an Arab as a "normal person.'

You are thinking of things from the perspective of what Israel wants and not what the Palestinians are entitled to under international law. In an informative debate with former Israeli Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami for Democracy Now! Norman Finkelstein talks about the need to return the conflict to this proper context, i.e. international law:

"What were the offers being made on each side of the Camp David and in the Taba talks? And the standard interpretation, which comes ... is that Israel made huge concessions at Camp David and Taba; Palestinians refused to make any concessions, because of what Dr. Ben-Ami repeatedly calls Arafat's unyielding positions; and that Arafat missed a huge opportunity. Now, it is correct to say that if you frame everything in terms of what Israel wanted, it made huge concessions. However, if you frame things in terms of what Israel was legally entitled to under international law, then Israel made precisely and exactly zero concessions. All the concessions were made by the Palestinians ...

"On every single issue, all the concessions came from the Palestinians. The problem is, everyone, including Dr. Ben-Ami in his book — he begins with what Israel wants and how much of its wants it's willing to give up. But that's not the relevant framework. The only relevant framework is under international law what you are entitled to, and when you use that framework it's a very, very different picture."

    I have been in Israel.
You exaggerate. Israel is random Middle Eastern country.
It is a pretty normal country in terms of education, quality of life, human rights.

Arabs didn't occupy holly land, Arabs were always subject of those lands since the Earth began - Arabs and Israelis are sons of Abraham from different wives. If you believe, holy books then you have to believe that too. They are relative enemy societies. :D

    For me I don't like both. :) :) :)

    A pretty normal country ??
Can you compare Israel to it's neighbors ?? No.
Quality of life & human rights do not exist in Arab Islam countries.
What were you doing in Israel ?
    Visiting Holy places ?
