The Party of Old White Men is Doubling Down

American women are excited about the prospect of the November elections.

After a year in which the sexual depravity of lowlifes in high places has been courageously exposed, a political party headed by an individual who is on record proclaiming that his celebrity licenses him to violate women, who boasted that he would invade the dressing room of beauty pageant contestants to catch them naked, and who stands accused of unwanted sexual aggression by multiple women, may want to exhibit signs of having attained a modicum of enlightenment, contrition, and maturity.

Instead, he campaigned for Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore after he was accused of sexually assaulting and harassing multiple teenage girls. When a young woman was killed in Charlottesville by a white supremacist, Trump feebly denounced, not the murder of the woman, but “violence on many sides, many sides.” (He usually needs to repeat himself when he lies. He often repeats himself.)

When Trump’s staff secretary Rob Porter resigned, after he was accused by both of ex-wives who described physical abuse, including punching and choking, and verbal abuse, and one of whom provided news outlets with a photograph of a black eye caused by punching her, Trump expressed sympathy. For … Porter.

“It’s a, obviously, tough time for him. He did a very good job when he was in the White House. And we hope he has a wonderful career and hopefully he will have a great career ahead of him. But it was very sad when we heard about it, and certainly he’s also very sad now. He also, as you probably know, he says he’s innocent, and I think you have to remember that. He said very strongly yesterday that he’s innocent.”

He said nothing about Porter’s accusers. He said nothing about violence against women.

When Fox News host Bill O’Reilly paid millions to settle harassment cases, Trump opined, “He is a good person … I don't think Bill did anything wrong.”

Trump kept Fox News chairman Roger Ailes as a close adviser after he was booted due to credible harassment claims.

Decades of sexual harassment exposed by his friend and fundraiser Steve Wynn? Not a mention from Trump.

“Day Care” Kelly befouled himself - an imminent risk for any who place themselves in the vicinity of trumpery - after he had given degenerate Porter a bigger role, despite knowing of his depravity for months. Kelly called the habitual wife beater “a man of true integrity and honor and I can’t say enough good things about him. He is a friend, a confidante, and a trusted professional. I am proud to serve alongside him.”

Better educated, suburban White Republican women have already been leading the stampede away from the dirty old boys.

One might think it politically expeditious to fake an awareness of the moral imperative.

 

So, vote for a woman. There aren't enough good black men running for office.

 

The Democratic Party does, indeed, reflect the diversity of the American people.

Trump is making the plight of the old White geezers' party even worse.

 

I am curious. Your posts generally read like an editorial...so, do you work for the democrats? Paid by them? Kinda like a russian shill, but an establishment democrat shill? Instead of an average american, posting on a political forum? Kinda smells like this.

Honestly, I don't know of anyone I'd vote for in the midterms. I'm going to have to do some work. There are no women I'd give my vote. The men I've seen in ads won't get it either. I'll have to look for an alternate. The way I see it, they can find something on anyone. I'm going to base my vote on how they voted. I can't honestly vote for anyone who goes against a few issue where I cannot budge. That leaves out almost all women and many men. It won't be easy.

Trump is making it tough on everyone. I feel like he is one and done, but I can't read his mind. The Democrats do reflect diversity in race and in sexuality, but not much else. That's the issue. For a politician to get all of those votes, they have to cater to all of them. That makes them look weak and ineffective. What a mess.

Where have I ever extolled the virtues of the Democratic Party?

 

Not all old, White geezers are Trump cultists.

Yes, the Democratic Party encompasses a wealth of women, Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, younger, better-educated Americans, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual and transgender Americans. That's America.

 

The GOP may be self-conscious of its monochromatic identity, but that's just how it is.

It may not be "pc" in some circles to mention demographics, but they're just empirical facts.

 

So what does being white have to do with it?

Of course, “due process” is a legal concept that does not demand that victims must be gagged, censored, or ignored.

Of course, Trump himself has been accused by at least 16 women of misconduct ranging from sexual assault to harassment to inappropriate behavior, so he may have a vested interest in gagging, censoring, and ignoring.

 

They aren't Christians, Jews or Muslims, if they vote for a Democrat. In fact, Nancy Pelosi is a great example of a Christian who is not.

There's more row about this thread than in the baby murderer thread. Of course, it was a woman who murdered one child, then another after she got out of prison while serving less than 15 months of her sentence. Yeah, that's the world we live in, when a black eye is worse than murder or the same.

They definitely weren't Democrats nor were they Republicans. The Republican party is dead and it's been replaced by the Party of trump. It will be a long time before the Republican party heals itself.

 

It will begin healing this fall, I think.
