Flashback to 2002: U.S. Papers Hail Venezuelan Coup as Pro-Democracy Move FAIR.org "Democracy" as defined in U.S. Newspeak. The New York Times acknowledged that Chávez’s “redistributionist policies brought better living conditions to millions of poor Venezuelans” and “there is no denying his popularity among Venezuela’s impoverished majority.” This is intolerable, however, as the resulting "regional dynamic has been dismal for Washington’s influence in the region." Fortunately: Unlike Carmona, Chavez had "shown little commitment to democracy and free markets." And he had been warned by the US that relations would sour "if he implement[ed] promised radical political or economic measures." https://scholar.google.com/scholar_lookup?author=D.+Farah+&publication_year=1998&title=U.S.+warns+incoming+venezuelan+president;+radical+political+or+economic+measures+could+sour+relations,+chavez+is+told&journal=The+Washington+Post#d=gs_qabs&u=#p=xJbirxufDEkJ And here we are: Bolton said this on Fox Business. Heard by everyone in the corporate media.
Tulsi Gabbard wants to run for President, and to honest I loved her non interventionist views, but how long do you think she'll be able to retain them without being attacked mercilessly by the media?
It's already started. Rolling Stone did a hit piece shortly after she announced. Daily Kos is trying to recruit a challenger for her house seat
You know, some time ago (8 years ago, in fact, on this very same forum, under a different username) I speculated in a different thread about virtually all the U.S. interventions just "coincidentally" being in oil producing countries in the world. In fact I hypothesized just for fun we might see an intervention in Nigeria or Venezuela in the future, based on the one fact alone that these were major oil exporting countries that the U.S. hadn't intervened in before. I suggested we might see an intervention 15-35 years from then. However I still had my doubts because an intervention in Venezuela seemed unlikely at that time. (I mean I'm not sure I entirely believed my own prediction) Well fast-forward to today.
