When you have two monster parties constantly telling Americans that they are a two party republic, Americans tend to believe they have only two real choices. Big lies told enough tend to be believed. But the bigger problem is that two parties can make all kinds of unsavory deals with each other in back room negotiations. Whatever you think of Trump, he has challenged that and upset the ecosystem. Hence all the hyperbole about his fascism and other such nonsense. It seems like the more common European more multiparty system seems incredibly more robust and sane. But of course I’m prejudiced. It is much harder to make deals with so many parties. Elections should never be decided until there is a clear majority winner even if it takes more than one election. In that instance, even small parties can turn an election.
