China is a country with much newer infrastructure than we have here in the USA.Much of modern China has been built in the last 50 years and is much newer and more modern than the USA.Their buildings are largely steel framed and built of man made less flammable materials than our wood structures.We have never had a modern war fought on our shores using just plain old incindiary bombs,our wooden buildings would be pne huge bonfire,cities would be reduced to piles of ashes.Just look at what happened in the California wild fires

Tariffs are a protection for Trump's cronies who want to make shoddy goods just like the Wall is a reward for his contractor buddies. Don't worry - China is now a nation of innovators and it is they who will be asking for strong international IP law .. and the US that will be trying to steal their technology. Pining over the past is futile - what is done is done. What is left that the Chinese - and others - have not already stolen. When the genie gets out of the bottle - it is out. Look at what happened with nuclear proliferation - you can than France and the US for this. What the messed up thinking with respect to Israel being allowed to have nukes - is beyond me. Then you had some Pakistani Scientist with access to nuclear secrets in the French nuclear program - next thing you know - Pakistan is testing the bomb. The dude then goes around and sells these secrets to North Korea, Iran and Iraq. And that is "nuclear weapons". If you are talking some nifty process for making silicon chips - or other innovations - that is a done deal - its out there. Anyone who thinks you can build a factory in another nation - and not have that nation learn the technology - is an a naive fool. This time has passed - The Chinese have learned everything already. China will be happy to accept - and even eager - strengthening of international IP protection. The idea that this will apply backwards in any significant way is silliness - its simply not going to happen. China is not going to close some factory that has been using technology that it learned from the US and others - that has been operating for years if not decades. There is a limit to how long IP can be protected in any case .. and China was never a signatory to those limits. This IP protection will apply to future IP - not past. As such - much of the rhetoric surrounding IP is Political games for domestic consumption.

By all accounts a genius but that does not make one a worthwhile or admirable human being. How sad for you. There is nothing sacred about "mine." Power structures can change and those whose cup is full can become empty very quickly in conditions of war, famine, revolution or rebellion. You should hope upon hope that this does not happen to you because then you would learn very quickly how dependent you are on a stable social structure that allows your privilege and sense of entitlement. While it would probably be good for you to learn humility and humanity through crisis, the bitterness and hatred you hold against your fellow man would probably not allow you to survive.
