I dont think concern for American consumers was the reason bill clinton opened our economy to cheap world competition

Or the reason bush and obama went along with outsorcing our jobs

The lack of tariffs to protect American workers FORCED US. Companies to move offshore

Is there a lot of pollution in assembling an iPhone? I don't think so.
It wasn't just cheap labor, it was that there was a lot of it.
It was also close to the parts suppliers saving on shipping and inventory costs.
They also have the needed engineers to optimize the assembly lines.

Lack of pollution controls is a fact throughout china

The iphone may not benefit from that directly but chinese industry in general certainly does

And consumers in America are funding it

China is spending lots of money to fix pollution. A lot of it on green energy.

We could have some jobs like these, but of course the right doesn't believe in clean energy or climate change.

Thanks to the votes you made in the past and the party you support then and today. Now today, your party wants to wreck America and it's middle class, what's left of it, again.
You and your party are against workers uniting to make higher paying jobs and better benefits.
It was those workers uniting that made the middle class, not the fact they were mfg jobs.
Just because mfg jobs come back doesn't mean they will be high paying. Where do you get this notion?
They will be no better paying than other jobs in the location those plants would locate.
The goal of capitalism is to make the best product as the LOWEST cost. Labor is a cost.

Says the guy with the thread complaining about jobs that were lost 25 yrs ago. That he voted for by voting R party across the board.
And now, the party wants trade wars to mess up the economy now that we've recovered from that disasterous policy with another disaterous policy.

Why is it, when R's run the country, we usually end up in a recesssion? That last one being a doozy of a recession. The grand daddy of them all, so far.

The last recession should alert libs to the stupidity of sending all our factory jobs to other countries

But I guess they won't worry til the federal welfare system goes bankrupt

Because I'm smart enough to know tRUMP isn't fighting to save jobs.
Just like I was smart enough to know voting for Perot was fighting to save jobs.
I was smart in the past, and I'm smart today.

I can't speak for libs or the stupidity of tRUMP supporters but jobs were sent out of country 25 yrs ago. I am smart enough to know this, mostly because I lived through it. AS you did also. In fact, you have admitted several times in this thread, you supported it.

We are now recovered and at basically full employment. UE around 3.5%. What jobs are leaving that you are speaking of?

And isn't most of your position in this thread been about jobs that were lost, wanting them back? Now you switch to jobs leaving? You are going all over the place on this.

    You were right about perot

But now we have changed places and you are the one supporting the loss of factory jobs

Is it because so many factory workers are conservatives?

    Which factory jobs are leaving?
Isn't one of tRUMPs recent claims about how mfg jobs have grown in the USA? Yes it is.

IMO, the plan 25 yrs ago was to get rid of union jobs. And that tactic was a success. That is what eroded the middle class.

The only reason mfg jobs were good paying was because of unions.

I didn't figure you'd have a source to show which factory jobs are leaving.

    But are they?

DECOUPLING: Apple to begin trial production of AirPods in Vietnam.

“Apple will begin soon trial production of AirPods in Vietnam in an attempt to circumvent tariff fees imposed on Chinese-produced goods by Trump Administration.”

Moving production from china is a plus for the US even if it fails to increase jobs in the US

But these globalist tech companies are beginning to look and feel like aliens to me

    Yup!

These other 3rd world producers aren't in an arms race developing the ability to shoot down our GPS satellites, sink our carriers, push their propaganda through our think tanks and universities and steal our industry and technology.

It's much easier for US to find other 3rd world producers than it is for China to find another First World Consumer base like the US, because there isn't one. Trump, a very stable genius with an unusually large brain effortlessly saw this in an instant.

But most globalists dont even see china as a threat

And convincing them otherwise is almost impossible
