Trump put the Republicans in the house and senate and those that are loyal on the razor's edge and between a rock and hard place meaning if they went against Trump in any way, shape, or form, Trump would ruin them and that included their jobs and positions whatever. They were to tow the line or else.

Trump had control of the Republicans and they were to do what they were told or face unknown consequences and that was the rule.

You have to think what Trump can still do to the Republican Party or at least some of them. You have to think how much control he still has over them.

Trump did damage on the Republicans and I hope the Republicans finally see Trump for what he really is.

Trump’s acquittal widens divide in GOP

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...ail&utm_source=newsletter&wpisrc=nl_headlines

    Divided they..........

At he very least, they are not even remotely cohesive now. They have the Trumpians .......who are still loyal to Donald........ who is not really the leader of that group now.......and they have the traditional.........which is rapidly becoming outdated. That could spell a form of GOP extinction. (devolution). Can it re emerge as something viable after this??

Trump’s control of the Republican Party

    https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politi...-legacy-republicans-save-his-political-future

How long will this hold by Trump last?? Between this hold and the his fanatical supporters.......... something major has changed ,not only in politics........but the cultures itself. They are all determined to believe his lies. ........ and the fantasy world he created. *by his excessive use of s superlatives that denied reality) He kept painting a picture that was more desirable than reality. His supporters bought into it. No matter how crass he was/is. They won't even give the current POTUS a chance. Behind al Trumps superlatives etc there is a hard fist of authoritarian style control.where no one dares t o defy him.

So is the REp party now the Trump party .............. which is embraces Trump ideology........whatever that is.as from appearances it is rather incohesive.

As long as Trump has power over some of the GOP, He's still in charge and still anything he wants, Simple as that.

Donald Trump isn't going givr up on what he wants and that is a fact. I won't be surprised if some GOP members drift away from Trump.

I think most GOP politicians know that for the party to have a future, it has to put Trump behind them. On the other hand, most of the party base want Trump to continue to have a prominent role and trust Trump a lot more than they trust the GOP.

The GOP is in a real pickle there.
