The VA has never been run very well. This guy likely could do no worse.

This cuts to the heart of the 50% turnover in Trumps appointees. Trump's vetting process is mostly nonexistent. Trump relies on personal relationships not professional competence in selecting high level personnel. Time and again, this has ended in disaster.. One needent go into the Admiral's personal peccadilloes, let the Senate do that.

A justified objection is that this individual has a checkered past in management assignments involving small groups. The VA is a group of 370,000. This organization is complex, challenging, and full of pitfalls and minefields. It demands an experienced CEO.

 

A bum off the street is unlikely to do worse than past muleskinners who have run it for themselves and their big bureaucracy.

 

LOL, Admiral Jackson served under three previous presidents including Obama and has one of the highest clearances to work in the WH. Ultimately qualified before this sudden attack by the Trump haters. Are you saying the FBI was incompetent? Are you denigrating law enforcement?

 

He is qualified as a personal physician to the President, which includes some lying and handling the press. But sorry, Dr. Candyman should not be running the VA.

 

Trump haters again? Don't you guys ever stop? I'm not arguing that the Admiral isn't highly qualified as a physician. What I wonder about is is he qualified as an administrator? What will make you happy, that we should dutifully rubber stamp Trump's actions lest we suffer the horrible fate of being labeled a "Trump hater?" Why. Give a valid reason an Admiral is not qualified.

 

He has no experience running a large organization. He doesn't even appear to have any experience with hospital management or the VA system..

If he is so talented, he should work as a deputy under someone with more experience.

 

So "once" again, trump nominates someone completely unqualified for the job at hand with no vetting beforehand, now we all have to endure the dirty laundry, the insulting alt-right "don't care" trump fans that can't see the forest through the tree's---What a waste of time & energy & money--
Let's put the blame where it deserves to be--that is squarely on trump-doesn't take a genius here folks to know where the problem lies---a total incompetent in the oval office---

Officers recommended for promotion will have their service records thoroughly analyzed and will be vetted both professionally and for strength of character before they are deemed qualified by the selections board. Leadership abilities are crucial -- the role of a U.S. Navy admiral is not unlike that of a corporate CEO that oversees huge budgets, and a lot of personnel. The position also requires negotiating and administrative skills and other executive competencies.

Ask yourself this libs, Dr. Jackson has been a fine individual in the last two administrations. Is it a coincidence that when he’s appointed to head up a dept by Trump that now is when he’s all of a sudden not worthy enough?

PS. As a White House physician, his job requires him to prescribe medication to the staff around the POTUS. Mostly ambien to the SS agents going through time change/jet lag so they can wake up and BE ALERT the following morning.

 

So the real problem is filling high end government jobs, because Trump's unemployment rate is lower than it ever was under Obama. As someone who isn't looking at those sorts of government jobs, I'm pretty impressed if this is the biggest problem plaguing Trump...

 

If the lib narrative is an insult then so be it.

 

But........the problem isn't a lack of qualified people. The problem is a lack of qualified people willing to get in the clown car with Don.

 

The VA can't get any worse. The only direction left is up.

Of course, Jackson should shut VA healthcare down and sell the assets and divert the budgeted revenue stream into large vested healthcare accounts for veterans. Do that and he should get at least 1 more star.
