Beijing continues unceasingly to develop its « Silk Road » project. China’s vice-President, Wang Qishan, has undertaken a tour of the Near East which took him to Israël for four days. According to the agreements which have already been signed, within two years China will control the major part of Israël’s agro-food industry, its high technology and its international exchanges.
A free trade agreement should follow, and the geopolitics of the whole region will be turned upside down.
    .....
China hopes to sell directly to Europe and the world. But their products are no longer exotic wares (silks, spices, etc.) but identical to those of the Europeans, and often of superior quality.
    ....
While Marco Polo was dazzled by the silks from the Far East without their equivalent in Italy, Angela Merkel is terrified at the idea of seeing her automobile industry destroyed by her Chinese competitors.

I find the Chinese very aggressive... the new telemarketers are wing-wongs who rattle their hoi-choi down without stopping. :(
Anyway they are determined to make their new Silk Road a success, despite the British and the Pentagon not liking it.
China needs oil and has built refineries in Iraq which were inconveniently destroyed by Daesh or by the Western Forces who were pretending to combat the Islamists.

Why Israel is so buddy/buddy with them puzzles me.
I guess we shall see and find out who is taking whom for a ride.

China is just nuts about trade and they don't seem afraid to pay for it.
So I think China opens a new market with access to high tech and Israel gets some low cost money for infrastructure.
    Just my guess.

I know Israel needs water for its irrigation and is eyeing S. Lebanon - which of course means war with Iran. China in the meantime is watering a desert twice the size of Spain - so it could be Israel prefers China's rain technology than going to war with Iran. I'm just guessing of course.

If it's so, then of course Trump would be against it and prefers stomping on Iran instead. He hates China you know?.

I guess, he hates them because they come after the destructive Americans and clean up and repair and get cheap oil for it.
About a rain making machine I have no idea how that works, but aren't the Israelis desalinating tons of sea water already?

At a water desalination plant on the sea near the northern Israeli town of Hadera, water pumped in from the Mediterranean is pushed through rows of multi-layered plastic membranes, and through a process called reverse osmosis, emerges after 90 minutes as tasty drinking water.

Israel is not interested in South Lebanon.
Israel, like all other Middle Eastern countries, has a problem of drinking water, but unlike its corrupt Arab neighbors, Israel has built desalination facilities and it
is one of the modern hi-tech countries that uses sewage water for irrigation ( Recycling ).
We must remember that the Jewish state gives Jordan 100 million cubic meters of water a year.

Do the Israelis still need more infrastructure developement? I thought the Germans did that already eons ago in the 1940 to now.
How kind of the Israelis, giving the Palestinians 100 million cubic meters of water per year!!! What has happened that they are now so nice to the Pals?

    Palestine = Jordan :peace:

Oh WOW, yes, they do! Such a tiny country with barely 5 million inhabitants! Makes you wonder,
    1. how they can afford it and
    2. why do they need this size? Are they already planning for their
    3. Gross-Israel - Eretz Yisrael? which
    4. will stretch from the Nile to the Euphrates?
