Just how many transgendered people do we need to see on television and in movies and in fashion modelling etc?

I'm starting to realize that hollywood and the media are controlled by transgendered people. It's extraordinary how the tv goes out of its way to promote them.

I'm not sure if this has all started in recent years or if they have been consolidating there power for decades, possibly since early last century.

With the highly anticipated Caitlyn Jenner's show on E! airing this week, it occurred to me that the bigger issue than whether Jenner should have received the Arthur Ashe reward at the ESPY awards, is are there too many TV shows depicting transgender people?

Is it just too much at one time for an audience to absorb? Are we in the TG community attempting to force acceptance through highly scripted and well-staged reality shows that may or may not be representing the majority of the TG community? Will having so many transgender topic shows educate or turn off the very people they are attempting to appeal to, because it is too much, too soon?

I can tell you after working in the unscripted TV world for five years that what TV networks buy is entertainment. The sweet-spot age group they target is 25-40 years old, with television networks like MTV, focusing on an even younger demographic of 18-25 years old. Bravo and Lifetime's audience is a bit older as they both have gone after the "soap opera" and the "romance novel" audience.

TV networks and the lucky production companies who produce these shows for the networks are not making shows to lose money. They are all looking for the next "fresh" topic. And many reality shows are based on scripted series like(*)Transparent, of which(*)Becoming Us(*)has become the unscripted version of this show and can be found on ABC Family.

Besides Caitlyn Jenner's show,(*)I Am Cait(*)(*)I Am Jazz,(*)about a teenage transgender girl and her family on TLC. Discovery Life has a show titled,(*)New Girls on the(*)Block(*)which focuses on the lives of transgender women. Prime Instant (Amazon) has a show called,(*)This is Me, an unscripted show about the transgender and non-conforming transgender communities.

There are (6) transgender community related shows on the air right now, and I suspect there will be more, as long as there is a market for viewers and advertisers see the opportunity to make money on this topic. This all seemed to happen overnight with turning point when(*)Transparentwon an Emmy and prior to that(*)Orange is the New Black(*)received high acclaim.

You can count on the fact that production companies, including Ryan Seacrest Productions, were salivating to get into the transgender market. Seacrest has two shows in this space as the producer of(*)Becoming Us(*)and(*)I am Cait. Seacrest, who has said he wants to be the next Dick Clark, is certainly following in his foot-steps.

The point is that TV networks provide entertainment and no matter how noble the reason for doing a show is at the beginning, the show's purpose, story lines and characters never remain "real." This is because in order to keep an audience interested, you need to step up "what is at risk." Bravo has accomplished this with its wildly successful(*)Housewives(*)shows. This franchise put Bravo on the map and though other networks have attempted to emulate Bravo, they can't quite attain the "bravo-formula" for success.

When the fanfare settles in for the public in being exposed to the transgender community on TV, the characters on these shows will have become reality stars, eventually making a whole lot of money, while the rest of the transgender and cross-dressing communities will be still be fighting their own battle for acceptance and making a living.

Years ago when I was casting for a show on cross-dressers, speaking at the Chi-chapter meeting, I was asked by someone about how could they make money if they came out on the show and revealed themselves. He was so concerned with losing his job and having no money to support his family and said, "If I come out and people know who I am, I will most likely lose my job. How am I going to make money, selling woman's shoes?"

I told him that anyone who was on a reality TV show would make money, probably more money than you can imagine. He was doubtful, didn't join in on the casting reel and we have become friends. Yet, the fact is that everyone doing these shows is poised to make money and they will become "reality stars." My hope is they remember where they came from and to give back to the community that made them famous.

Helen Wambach Ph. D. began a fascinating study in the 1960's. Her original intention was to disprove reincarnation.

She found that ninety percent of her volunteers could go into hypnotic trance, and as she regressed them in time they would see what they perceived as past lives.

Dr. Wambach knew that if she did a study on this and got a high percentage of Napoleon's and Cleopatra's, she would have for all intents and purposes have disproved the idea of reincarnation .......

But..... the results of her rather large study astonished her.

I mention her study because although over sixty percent of her volunteers were women, fifty percent of past lives viewed were of men........... men saw themselves as women in past lives and women saw themselves as men in past lives?!

She did a second study on what people report in the BETWEEN life state. She found that our lives are far more so planned than we tend to imagine.

One agenda that the LGBT community has is to awaken humanity to the truth of some form of reincarnation.

What about sexually diverse people?

If this world was to ever find out just a small amount of what sexually diverse (gay) people are here to do on this planet, there would never be one single wisecrack or hurtful remark made ever again. Instead there would be great respect! People who speak disrespectful things about people of this orientation ... enact judgment, and do so from a place of unenlightenment, insecurity, ego and socially induced prejudice. Some may use mistranslated scriptures taught to them, not by the Holy Spirit ... but by fear-filled human beings. Many will choose to sustain a Divinely unsupported satanic hate-based rage against these children of God, rather than using Love to bring understanding and healing between both peoples. In the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research…. men tend to be pretty freaked out when they see themselves as a woman in a past life….. and giving birth….. whereas women tend to be more accepting of seeing themselves as a man in a past life.

Of interest is also that the subject's gender may not be the same during different life times. For example, a man was surprised that he was a female in a prior life and lived around 480 B.C in China. Another man was an Indian woman in his prior life, who died of dystocia (dystocia is the condition when a fetus cannot be delivered naturally because of its position in the mother's womb). He described the pain he felt, and became rather upset. Unexpectedly, the ratios between males and females among the subjects were found to be mostly the same during any of the ages.

The subjects' clothing during their former lifetime also corresponded with historical records. For example, a subject who lived around 1000 B.C in Egypt described different types of clothing worn by the upper and lower classes. The upper classes wore either a half-length or full-length white cotton robe. The lower classes wore something like an exotic-looking type of pants that was wrapped downwards from the waist. The researchers viewed historic records of clothing worn during the respective periods and could therefore compare it to the descriptions of these subjects. The descriptions were found to be correct. We are also quite sure that these subjects were not familiar with what the ancient Egyptians wore.

A female subject recalled that she was a knight in A.D. 1200. She said, "I feel it is very impractical. I must have illusions." She continued, "I lowered my head to look at my feet. I saw a pair of triangle-head boots. I thought they would be round-headed, just like the armor I saw in the museum." Later on, she found such triangle-head boots in an encyclopedia. According to the encyclopedia, this type of boots was worn in Italy before A.D. 1280. She had recalled that she was in Italy at that about time since she had died in 1254.

Justice Dept. warns North Carolina to ditch bathroom law or possibly lose millions in federal funding
May 4, 2016 - "Both you and the state of North Carolina are in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964," the Justice Department told North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory in a letter Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Justice on Wednesday weighed in with a heavy hand on the controversial bathroom bill for transgender persons that was passed by the state of North Carolina earlier this year -- and may threaten to pull millions of dollars in federal money if it doesn't dump the law. After concluding that the controversial measure violates federal anti-discrimination laws, the Justice Department notified North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory in a letter Wednesday that he has until Monday to abandon the law, the Charlotte Observer first reported Wednesday. "Both you and the state of North Carolina are in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964," the letter states. "Specifically, the state is engaging in a pattern of practice of discrimination against transgender state employees."

Title VII prohibits the discrimination of employees by employers on the basis of sex, and the letter notes that federal courts and administrative agencies have previously applied that provision to cover transgender workers. Numerous people and businesses have since criticized the state for the law, which could ultimately cost the state even more in lost revenues.

Vanita Gupta, a civil rights attorney who sent the Justice Department letter, called the law "facially discriminatory" because it treats transgender employees differently than "similarly situated" persons who are not transgender. "Please advise the Department, therefore, no later than close of business on May 9, 2016, whether you will remedy these violations ... by confirming that the State will not comply with or implement H.B. 2, and that it has notified employees of the State and public agencies that ... they are permitted to use bathrooms and other facilities consistent with their gender identity," Gupta's letter added.

The Justice Department also sent letters to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and University of North Carolina, which Justice officials say has violated federal law by implementing H.B. 2, with news of its decision.

Transgender marriages allowed under new fatwa
June 27, 2016 -- At least 50 clerics in Pakistan have issued a fatwa that allows marriage with a transgender person, a media report said on Monday.

The new religious decree by Tanzeem Ittehad-i-Ummat clerics, ruled a transgender person having "visible signs of being a male" is allowed to marry a woman or another transgender with "visible signs of being a female." Men are also allowed to marry transgenders who appear female. But, the decree did draw a line, not allowing transgenders with "visible signs of both genders" to marry anyone.

The fatwa also concluded that transgender people could not be deprived of inheritance and parents who do so are "inviting the wrath of God". The clerics called upon the government to prosecute parents who take such actions. It was also declared sinful to "humiliate, insult or tease" transgenders in any way, including denying them the right to be buried in Muslim ceremonies.

The decree by the influential religious group, though not legally binding, was a breathtaking change in tone for a country where transgenders are often physically attacked. Gay marriage in any form remains punishable by life imprisonment in Pakistan, and a "third gender" is not recognized on government I.D. cards.

Transgender activists welcomed the fatwa, issued Sunday, and called on the government to make the decree binding federal law. "This is the first time in history that Muslim clerics have raised their voices in support of the rights of transgender persons," activist Qamar Naseem said. "But we have to go further for transgender people and the country needs to introduce legislation on it."

Church seeks to prevent transgender bathroom law enforcement
July 14, 2016 An Iowa church has asked a federal judge to stop the Iowa Civil Rights Commission from applying portions of a state policy that the church says could force it to abide by transgender bathroom rules and muzzle ministers who may want to preach against transgender or gay individuals.

The nonprofit religious legal defense organization Alliance Defending Freedom filed a motion Wednesday.

The group represents the Fort Des Moines Church of Christ, which says Iowa's antidiscrimination law that prohibits public accommodation discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity violates a church's rights to free speech and free exercise of religion.

The commission says it's never enforced the law against churches and has made it clear churches are generally exempt.

How you feel about your gender does not change your sex at birth, and how the president feels about his authority to write laws cannot change the fact that the Constitution grants that power to Congress, Paxton said. In May, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Education (DOE) released a Dear Colleague letter, which stated that in accordance with Title IX, schools across the country must not discriminate against students based on their gender identity. As a result, transgender students must be allowed to participate in such activities and access such facilities consistent with their gender identity.

In response, the attorneys general of 13 states are trying to convince a federal judge to strike down the directive. There are hosts of reasons why letting 14-year-old boys into girls locker rooms is a bad idea, Paxton pointed out. "The changes the guidance letter would cause would cause the kind of irreparable harm the courts have the power to prevent with a preliminary injunction. And we hope to have a preliminary injunction in place before school starts in August," he stated. Paxton emphasized the importance of understanding what the term sex discrimination actually means, because he says the Obama administration is not using it in the correct context of Title IX. The implementing agency regulations for Title IX permitted schools to provide separate toilet, locker rooms and shower facilities on the basis of sex, he said.

He added that Congress has rejected every attempt to prohibit gender identity discrimination in Title IX and has expressly added gender identity protections in other limited areas of the law like hate crimes and violence against women. The Texas attorney general reasoned that members of Congress know there is a difference between sex and gender, adding that the Obama administration is trying to bypass Congress because they would not go along with his definition. Paxton went on to identify several more of the legal arguments he is using against the DOJs transgender directive. The Administrative Procedure Act requires that legislative and substantive rules go through a period of public participation. Paxton said that since the gender identity edict was a binding rule, it should have been subject to this act.

Two other arguments involve the spending clause of the Constitution. According to Paxton, the Tenth Amendment's clear notice principle requires that when states receive federal funding, they must know beforehand what terms they are actually agreeing to according to the unambiguous text of the federal law. No federal agency can validly change the terms of that deal to prevent discrimination on a persons feeling about their gender, Paxton said. Finally, since the states are sovereign, Paxton said he does not believe the federal government can hold a gun to the head of the states to coerce them into either following a certain edict or forfeiting their federal funding.

Relief granted to transgender students fighting North Carolina's bathroom law
August 26, 2016 - A U.S. judge on Friday blocked the University of North Carolina from enforcing a state law requiring transgender people to use single-sex restrooms and locker rooms that correspond to the gender on their birth certificate.

U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Schroeder's order granting a preliminary injunction applies only to the three transgender plaintiffs named in a lawsuit challenging the measure, known as House Bill 2 or HB 2. North Carolina in March became the first U.S. state to bar people from using restrooms in government buildings and public schools consistent with their gender identity. In short, UNC may not apply HB2s one-size-fits-all approach to what must be a case-by-case inquiry, wrote Schroeder, noting that his order effectively returned all involved to the status quo before the new law passed wherein public agencies accommodated the individual transgender Plaintiffs on a case-by-case basis, rather than applying a blanket rule to all people in all facilities under all circumstances.

The judge, an appointee of Republican former President George W. Bush, heard oral arguments in the case on Aug. 1 in Winston-Salem. The U.S. Justice Department and the American Civil Liberties Union, which sued the state on behalf of three transgender people, called the law stigmatizing and unconstitutional.
