Why was I ever worried about what Trump would say or do at this summit? No one, outside of his blind, loyal band of followers, believes anything he says anymore, certainly not the vast majority of Americans, certainly not the leaders of our allies, certainly not Kim Jong Un, and, most of all, certainly not Vladimir Putin. Putin knows Trump for what he is, a narcissistic, loudmouth braggart who no longer speaks for the American people or its representatives.

It does not matter what Trump says. The Pentagon will do what it does while totally ignoring Trump as it has done in the past. For example, while Trump was pandering to Putin's every wish, "One week before the meeting of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Helsinki, the US Navy has begun large-scale exercises in the Black Sea. The Sea Breeze 2018 exercise was initiated on Monday, involving Ukraine’s Black Sea Fleet and forces from 18 NATO countries, a total of more than 2,000 military personnel, as well as 30 ships and military aircraft." https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/16/world/europe/trump-putin-summit-helsinki.html

The Black Sea is practically a Russian lake. Russia controls the entire northern and eastern shores of the sea. While Trump is cuddling Putin, this is an in-your-face moment provided by American naval forces.

While Trump is doing his best to be pals with Putin, his SecState, Mike Pompeo, will continue to blame Putin for interference in our election. His NSA, John Bolton, will insist that Russia is a hostile foreign power, so will Trump's SecDef, James Mattis. Congress, controlled by Trump's party, will continue to pass resolutions supporting NATO, blaming Russia for interference in our elections, and pass sanctions against Russia Trump refuses to impose.

So, it no longer matters what Trumps says or does.

Who cares if he began the day by blaming the United States, not Russia, for tensions between the two countries. Russia interfered in our election, right, not the other way around.

Who cares if Trump caused turmoil at the NATO summit meeting and during a visit to Britain by demanding that allies spend more on defense and threatening or else, saying that Prime Minister Theresa May was mishandling Brexit, advising her to sue the European Union over the issue, and calling the bloc a trade “foe.” In addition, while standing next to May at press conference Trump said Boris Johnson would make a great prime minister.

With the exception of his base that often appears to be sympathetic to Russia, Trump's opinion no longer matters. Asked whether he believes his own intelligence agencies, which say that Russia interfered in the 2016 United States election, or Mr. Putin, who denies it, Trump refused to say, but he expressed doubt about whether Russia was to blame. Trump's base agrees with him.

In the end, what Trump says or does has no bearing. He is just another clueless, naive, boisterous politician.

    Time to drain the swamp.

The snowflakes would take America to war over a handful of Facebook post that hurt their feelings.

I would think that releasing the DNC emails would have helped Hillary Clinton by showing how great the people that work at the Democratic party really are. Blaming the DNC hack for Hillary's loss is just dumb. That only helped Hillary.

No one knows what the two leaders discussed. Those critical of Trump are grasping at straws. They weren't there. But the fact Trump and Putin met is an indication that Trump understand diplomacy and is willing to set down with world leaders. Trump's doctrine is simple, "Better to have a friend than an enemy". The dems, the MSM, and the Trump-haters are having a cow. Trump is making a lot of our so-call foreign experts look bad.

If that was a display of trumps understanding of diplomacy, he thinks treason is patriotism.

I never thought I'd see American's siding with Russia after Russia militarily attacked the heart of American democracy.

Pathetic apologism for a disgusting ignorant and cowardly performance. Yep yet another example of American Greatness.

Trump is making America look bad and you think he's a stable genius. I'll pass on commenting on your foreign policy expertise since its obvious.

Neither of you were there. The GOP leaders were not there. Here's what I know -- Two world leaders standing side-by-side and respecting each other. To know more than that you would have had to met in private with them. Otherwise you are just repeating what you are told. Try thinking for yourself.

trump has become a clear and present danger to our country. He puts the interests of putin ahead of the interests of the US and it's become obvious that putin has damaging information about trump and has him by the shorthairs.
trump did putin's bidding during his entire trip to Europe by attacking NATO and our allies and polishing turds for putin every chance he had.
I wonder how much longer the gop will put up with a traitor as their leader.

Respectfully, because I know what you are driving at, I disagree. The reason I think it matters is because there are millions of people who DO believe what he says. So when he makes a jaw dropping comment like....

HELSINKI — President Trump refused to support the conclusion of U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, saying at the end of his summit here Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the autocrat privately gave him an “extremely strong and powerful” denial.

...........in direct contradiction of the US intel agency's assessment and the evidence presented by Mueller, and the Cult of Denial nods their heads approvingly.........it matters very much.

How can we function as a nation when millions of people have lost their ability or desire to question the truthfulness of what the Liar-in-Chief says?

It takes talent and imagination to successfully pull of coherent and intelligent quips and one liners. Don't quit your day job as you are no Mark Twain. Actual Americans are sickened by the blatant treachery of this traitor and his groveling at the feet and at the behest of an adversary that attacked the USA. **** Trump to hell! And that ain't hyperbole.

The question is..............is it ego, or something more nefarious? Is it that Don just can't admit he might not have won the election without Russian help? Or is his refusal to condemn Putin (while he has problem condemning our allies) a sign of something more than sinister even than duplicity?

What has diplomacy got to do with an American president taking the word of an ex-KGB spy who ordered our election to be tampered with over the US intel community and the overwhelming evidence presented by Mueller's office?

Since it was a joint PR event with no agenda and no substance, it wasn't by any stretch of the imagination a "summit."

Putin lied, Trump lied, and Trump yet again bragged, for the benefit of anyone who might have missed it, that he got more electoral voted than Hillary Clinton.

Putin pretended he had no more to do with that than he did with his invading Crimea.

Trump savaged the EU and NATO, alienated US intelligence services, the Republican-run Senate Intelligence Committee, his Secretary of State, and every other sentient entity cognizant of Putin's perfidy, and left Putin with nothing to do but smirk and consider awarding Trump the Order of Lenin.

Shamelessly praise the narcissist and slip him a little bling, and he''ll be your BFF.

    Trump:

'So I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today,'

Where does it say Trump took the word of an ex KGB spy over the US intel community?

Oh wait... you made that up.
