The refugee problem (largely that of the Middle-easy) has been brewing for decades. That it finally blew up and started the flood (that also comes from black-Africa where famine often prevails) is an historical consequence that no EU-nation could have escaped.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with "socialism". As I never tire of saying, there is no such thing as a "socialist" nation on earth (unless one includes Dork-head in North Korea) where the government owns all the means of production. All EU nations have incorporated Social Democracy. Which embraces "capitalism", but not in the overwhelmingly unfair fashion as does the US.

The EU does not have (and likely will never have) the Income-into-Wealth Disparity of the US. (See original research here.)

Define "Unfair" please. Its a rather subjective term that depends entirely on the perspective of the person being asked.

    With pleasure.

The following infographic shows amply the unfair Wealth-share between classes in America:

Do your really think that 0.1% of American families owning as much Wealth as the bottom 90% is "fair and equitable"?

If so, you and I live on different planets ...

Who decides what is "fair and equitable"? What does that even mean?

"A claim for equality of material possession can only be met by a government with totalitarian powers." - F.A. Hayek

Unfair as in taxation that results in the accumulation of Wealth in this manner:

Meaning this: The top 20% of families obtain 89% of the nations Net Worth, whilst the bottom 80% obtain the remaining 11% ...

    1) if unfair why not end the liberal programs and policies that shipped middle class and poor jobs to China??
our corporations face the highest corporate taxes in the world so of course they move off shore and take jobs with them.

    2) you have learned 65 times that your numbers are a lie. The bottom poor and middle class get free education, health care, housing, welfare, food, infrastructure, and defense for about $ 6 trillion a year. Add the truth in and you see how badly Picketty has made a parrot out of you!.

    Shall we go for 66?

    Such as yourself?

Calling Hayek a "hack economist" just proves that you know very little about actual economics.

Picketty is a open fraud. He says the poor have no wealth but does not include the govt programs in America that lavish $6 trillion a year on them. Total income in America is 115,000,000 households x $50k which is also $6 trillion.
