Raising questions about "recommendations for improving risk assessments" is not the same thing as you think.

It's been a long time since I read about this so my recollection is a bit cloudy, but aren't the GMO crops pretty much necessary to produce enough food for the world to feed itself?

If I remember correctly, one of the main modifications was to increase yield and shorten growing times.

Actually enough crops can be raised without GMOs but businesses like Monsanto will invent any story that will promote their sales and profitability. Hell, enough can be raised organically.

I can't remember the context of their argument so I will default to your knowledge on it.

It also reduces nutrient quality. GMO crops are a cheap way to grow lots of starch and carbs, which is prolly handy in, say, Africa, where nutrient poor food is preferable to no food, and their staples are not as processed as ours so they get more nutrients from the food that is available to (hopefully) counterbalance the deficient GMO crops.

But we dont need it here in the US. Our foods already have much of the nutrients processed out. Yet cheap GMO nutrient deficient crops are what we end up eating in most our food if we're not careful. Cuz profits.

    So be careful :)

Enough raised organically? I do not foresee a future where kids are dropping out of college and busting down my door begging for a job to weed fields.

lol no. this aint my first rodeo, and im not claiming anything exceptional. crops designed to thrive in nutrient deficient soil will yeild nutrient deficient fruit.

if you cant grasp that simple logic, no link I could ever provide will be convincing.

The GMO corn and soybeans are herbicide and pesticide resistant GMOs. Nothing to do with less nutrients needed and of all the GMOs now available in the United States none of them have anything to do eith needing less nutrients to grow. Most are disease, fungal, or herbicide resistant. I find that you must know less than nothing if your answer is no I will not provide a link. Just love people who say things for the sake of saying them and when simple asked prove say no.
What fruit do they have that is GMO?

Have you looked into a roller crimper? It looks like a way to mulch fields and improve soils.

The food bottleneck is not production, it's distribution.

Doesn't matter how much total food you can grow if that food is not reaching the people who don't have any.

With increasing world populations, GMO crops that can grow fast with lower nutrient requirements are going to be the only way to survive. And since nobody wants to do anything about exploding population, GMOs are here to stay.
