I'm not going to get too cocky. Russia can still win - perhaps. But only if (A) The Ukrainians start make serious mistakes. And they are getting excellent advice and intelligence from unnamed sources. Alternatively ( B) Putin is willing to pay a horrendous price in Russian blood and gold and make this a war of attrition that lasts for months. This is because its hard for NATO to provide lots of replacement Eastern Block equipment and munitions.

There are some stockpiles in Western Europe shared between former Warsaw Pact nations but that's it. So the number of tanks, AFV's and guns etc that NATO can transfer is limited. In a pinch they can also supply some Russian caliber munitions and maybe even produce more. But Russia does have bigger stockpiles to draw on, even if most of the equipment has to be completely re-serviced first and half of their old munitions are unstable. Most of the expert advice I've seen so far indicates its not over yet.

They're doing better than Russia and so are a number of former captive Soviet countries. See per capita GDP adjusted for purchasing power...

There's no reason to believe the Ukraine can't be very successful in the future as a member of the EU.
Better look at the graph above before you hold forth.
Russians are going to be the beggars.

Oh, now you admit Putin wants all of the Ukraine.
NATO is going to supply Ukrainians with weapons they need to kill Russians and drive them out of the Ukraine is that's what Ukrainians want.
So, now Putin is going to nuke us and we should be...

No its not ridiculous. In fact the history of the Russian empire is quiite amazing. From Vladivostok
which was Chinese to St Petersburg which was Swedish to the Ukraine itself. And Putin openly
lamented the loss of the Soviet Union, seeing it as the greatest calamity - on par with the Arabs
losing the 1948 war with Israel. And bit by bit he picked off neighboring countries like Chechnya
(which clearly didn't want to be a part of yet another Russian empire) and Georgia etc..
And this is why Lenin and Stalin went on so much about 'imperialism' - Communist in general and
Russia in particular (and now China) are imperialist.
Putin might be able to hold half of Ukraine - but the sanctions won't enable him to hold it.

Really? The very fact that Russians don't know what is happening in Ukraine suggests to me
that RUSSIANS WOULDN'T SUPPORT WHAT PUTIN IS DOING IN UKRAINE.

What Ukraine should do is begin firing intermediate range missiles into Russia, taking out the
    airfields, oil installations, ports etc..
One good thing which came from 2014 in Crimea was that it galvanized Ukraine to take its
defense seriously - that's where NATO, the USA and England were able to help modernize
    Ukraine's military.

There is enough oil in the Alberta oil sands to replace every drop coming from Russia.

Thats nice .. but has nothing to do with your previous claim -
"We understand that the only issue Russia had with NATO was this organization stood in the way of
    its imperial ambitions"
    . . being ridiculously false.

NATO has been the aggressor since the end of Cold War .. "Poking the Bear" so to speak. is the Fact of History you love to omit.

So how has NATO been the 'aggressor' ?
Give examples of this, including Czechoslovakia and the Prague Spring, Poland, the Warsaw Pact plan
called 'Seven days to the Rhine' and Afghanistan.

ps 'Seven Days' reminds me of the plan to invade Ukraine
In “Seven Days to the Rhine,” Soviet nuclear forces would destroy Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt,
Stuttgart, Munich and the West German capital of Bonn. NATO headquarters in Brussels would be annihilated,
as would the Belgian port of Antwerp. The Dutch capital and port of Amsterdam would also be destroyed.
Denmark would suffer two nuclear strikes.
The result would be a headless NATO and the destruction or demoralization of civilian governments in West
Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark—precisely the countries likely to be occupied at the end of
the seven days. The elimination of the port cities of Hamburg, Antwerp and Amsterdam would severely curtail
NATO’s ability to flow reinforcements from the United Kingdom and North America.

Your war criminal leader is reaping what he's sown.
Why make demands when you said Russia is going to nuke us?
    Screw him.
The U.S. will never agree to this.
    This won't happen, either.
    Never.
Shippers want to cross the Northwest Passage controlled by Canada.
    Huh?
Only if Russia opens everything to West inspectors, and then only "maybe."

I just did. We don't need hypersonic weapons until Russia could have an effective defense for what we have.

Simply building bases on your own territory in no way makes you an "aggressor".

America built a huge naval base in Hawaii in the 1930's.
    Didn't mean Americans were aggressors.
France has significant nuclear military power, doesnt mean they are aggressors.
    etc..

Tik Toc is banned in Russia
    Instagram is banned in Russia
    Facebook is banned in Russia
Western news periodicals are banned in Russia
'Death of Stalin' video is banned in Russia
and the noose is slowly tightening with the plan to cut Russia off from the international internet.

Who had the right to tell people what they ought to know? Putin it seems.

NATO is not in the practice of building bases in nations not part of NATO.

I really wish sometimes you had actual knowledge of what you post.

France buys very little gas from Russia.
France is almost energy self sufficient.
