Second shooting and it’s barely been a week since the shooting is Mississippi. A couple decades of violent video games and mass shooters is taking effect, giving birth to wannabe mass shooters who wish to be martyrs. I remember the Pulse nightclub shooting being front and center during the 2016 election.

If New Zealand is considered a safe haven by most, then the US is becoming a more dangerous place to live. Religious institutions are no longer safe, the grocery store is no longer safe, we might as well consider having a bounty on our head when we go out in public, from coast to coast.

How we got here is the question.

We had mass shootings in the good old USA long before video games were even thought of.

The first real mass shooting was Columbine, and around that time Nintendo released the video game, Perfect Dark, which was a violent game for the time.

Actually less people die from mass shootings than they do choking on food.

The narrative that follows these shootings is gun control. If we do that we'd become shitholes like London and Australia who can't even overthrow the monarchy.

Okay, in recent history Columbine is the one everyone remembers---even those born way after. Why have people avoided the question of how did we get here? It doesn't seem like thoughts and prayers have made shopping for groceries safe obviously.

The homicide rate in Australia may have slowly risen since 1992, however we aren't hearing of Walmart shootings in Sydney or Melbourne. We would hear about it over here if it was bloody enough. New Zealand hasn't had a copycat shooting since Christchurch, and I continue referring to New Zeeland as how to best handle a mass shooting. I'm all for the Constitution, but I'm sick of cheapening it in defense of keeping AK47's on the market that cause massacres like this. That's what the facts point to, aside from a mental health crisis. The 2nd Amendment is not a excuse anymore, it can't be a excuse anymore. Germany has more stringent gun laws on the books, and where are the mass shootings in Berlin and Frankfurt. There aren't any, just like there haven't been anymore in New Zealand since gun laws were beefed up there. Are mass shootings becoming a uniquely American thing?

The worst mass murder at a school occurred in the 1920's when a school employee was mad at the school system and decided to blow up the school house with the kids in it.

What was the body count though, or the amount injured and killed? Besides, that's a bombing it sounds like. We're talking one to three guys who decide to enter a Walmart at peak hours, and commit the deadliest shooting in Texas history.

El Paso demonstrated an open carry state isn't necessarily a safe state. You don't think someone in that Walmart had a gun on them?

Sure hope the Democrat debates are over soon. They are too good at inciting violence by weak minded people.

All this degradation in our society makes me somewhat glad I have MS and no longer get out much....I am more likely to die without violence.

No, the first real mass shooting was the Texas Bell Tower back in 1966:

"Charles Joseph Whitman (June 24, 1941 – August 1, 1966) was an American mass murderer who became infamous as the "Texas Tower Sniper". On August 1, 1966, he used knives in the slayings of his mother and his wife in their respective homes and then went to the University of Texas in Austin with multiple firearms and began indiscriminately shooting at people. He fatally shot three people inside the university tower. He then went to the tower's 28th-floor observation deck, where he fired at random people for some 96 minutes, killing an additional 11 people, including an unborn child, and wounding 31 others before he was shot dead by Austin police officer Houston McCoy. Whitman killed a total of 17 people; the 17th victim died 35 years later from injuries sustained in the attack.[2][3][4][5]"

And fewer people die in plane crashes than in car accidents and yet what is the reaction to a plane crash.
