Don't get it twisted. It's not illegal to influence foreign elections. So what if the Russians didn't want Hillary as president? Obviously many Americans feel the same way. If Russian trolls can so easily influence dumb Americans on social media and news sites, then more power to them. All is fair in love and war and politics.

When exactly has the US broken into other nation's computer systems to influence an election? Somehow I missed that...or any such illegalities

Maybe Israel and a couple other countries should indict Obama for interfering in their elections.

It is well know that the CIA supported Pinochet in his coup. It's not meddling in elections exactly because a coup isn't an election.

I'm not american and I follow that case from long distance, I can't tell where is the truth or the false about Russian influence in elections. It seems there is a lot of hysterical in both sides, from my point of view more in the democrat parti, but still in both side.

    OP

It's just another example of the neurotic Russophobia which is sweeping the US and UK. Last night on the BBC tv news it was reported that an athlete in the SK Olympics has been accused of taking drugs; guess his nationality? Yep, you got it in one - Russian. :roflol:

That was forty years ago. I meant any time recently. I am not sure how much influence we had in the election - if Allende had not won the election there would have been no coup.

I don't know. Maybe there is things we will only learn in decades when some archives would be unclassified.

I was rather shocked to see the president of my country taking clearly position for Hillary Clinton, so I wouldn't be surprized if this crook used the mean of our country to use it against Trump.

So what you got from that is Russophobia not drug cheat?
Institutional drug cheating by Russians is a known fact, this is simply more evidence to back that up.

If you believe that, you'll believe anything. Russia is no worse in this respect than any other country - including the US?? It's just that - surprise, surprise - all the focus has been on 'the world's bad guy'.

Not the same thing. But America has a LONG history of directly and indirectly trying to influence foreign elections. And I bet you she still does it to this day.

I really do not know what all the big deal is with what Russia did. It goes on ALL THE TIME. Russia was just dumb enough to get caught this time.

The big deal was probably when candidate Trump called for the Russians to hack the DNC and release the missing emails.

The indictments show that the laws do exist. Can't indict over an imaginary law.
The laws exist to limit foreign influence. The big problem with foreign influence is that the beneficiary at some point could become reliant on that influence and swayed by it, not unlike certain lobby groups. Hypothetically, let's say the report by Mueller shows that Trump would not have won without Russian help. Come re-election time he could make a side deal with them for their continued support. Not good. Or they could tell him that they will expose the deal if he doesn't do as he's told.
It's best to stop it now.

I am not saying Trump is innocent of collusion or other serious crimes in this matter.

I am simply saying that Russia interfering in American elections has been going on for decades and America interfering in other countries elections (including Russia's) has ALSO been going on for decades.

And all this will undoubtedly, IMO, continue.

Plus there is no hard evidence that what the Russians did changed even one vote. I don't see what people are freaking out about...it's SOP.

Sure, same way that both Obama and Trump meddled in our Brexit election. The main difference being actively seeking help from an ''enemy'' state.

I don't know what you are talking about. Nothing has been proven yet.

Wait until Trump has been convicted of helping the Russians before you say he did.

BTW - I despise Trump as POTUS and wish he would leave office today.

    We are done here...for now.

    Good day.

Trump asking Russian hackers to find the missing emails. It was widely reported I don't know how you missed it. Not Trump helping Russians, the other way around.

You deny Trump asked Russian hackers to help find the missing emails?

Nope. Didn't support a lot of things he did you're just imagining things because you weren't paying attention.

Expanded answer. The right tried constantly to prevent Obama from success, in some cases because he's black and always because they believed that if he succeeded they would never win another election. The common belief was that if someone found the cure for alzheimers and cancer and he backed legislation to get the drug to market the right would block that as well. He did many things the left disagreed with and they were vociferous in their objections but you were too busy blocking him to notice. The trade deal for example. But Obama did what he thought was right.
It is true that the left loathes Trump. They loathe him for what he does. He seems to go out of his way to make enemies. Take note that on these boards many posters openly state that they are for anything that pisses off the left. Good or bad, right or wrong irrelevant, does it piss off the left. Just because you and yours blindly go along does not mean that we did, stop projecting yourselves on us.
