Well that makes about as much sense as, well, a liberal.

You apparently don't believe they should follow their own constitution. Fascinating.

The problem is what Venezuela does impacts its neighbors and the Western Hemisphere. The regime is a tumor that has to be removed.

Not perfect? Millions of people are starving and leaving Venezuela. The regime is killing its citizens. Are those people just a "talking point"?

And of course the surgeon is :flagus: :(

I wouldn't mind Pax Americana if it were only
    enforced per The Monroe Doctrine.
But, expanding the doctrine to the other hemisphere causes problems with credibility
as well as just too damned costly.

Let the French be the surgeon.
    Anybody But :flagus:
    How about :flagcanada: ?

Argentina, Brazil and VZ all have terrific problems with corruption... Predatory political types.... Sound familiar?

Corruption is everywhere ... Louisiana, Chicago, and the rest of the planet.

The problems in Venezuela go far, far, beyond simple greed and corruption. It's a deadly situation.

Venezuela is not your country. What they do inside their own borders is their own business. There's this little thing called "national sovereignty" that you might have heard of before.

There is no "impact" on America that would even remotely justify intervening in the internal affairs of another sovereign nation.

that's what I've been saying all along - anyone who is a true conservative would say the same, that is if they are as principled as they imagine

It's not a deadly situation for America.

So is Central America which is why so many people flee from there and enter the USA. But you never hear any right winger demand that the government intervene and kill off the fascists who repress innocents.

They are not conservatives. They are phonies.

They whine all day, every day about borders and national sovereignty in the USA, and then turn right around and brazenly attack the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of a country that poses absolutely no threat to America, all because their cult leader told them to do it.

So did the U.S. sabotage Venezuela's economy, or did the Chavez-Maduro administrations do that themselves?

So why all the whining then when they follow their own constitution?

Probably a combination of the two. But there is no doubt that a significant amount of Venezuela's economic instability is being caused by intense pressure originating from outside their country.

You're the ones whining about Venezuela. I'm more worried about my own country. America first, remember?

As I'm sure you are aware, South America has been the CIA's playground for decades.

Any government that emerges in South America which is even slightly unfriendly to the plutocratic elements who control the US government is immediately targeted for a "regime change" operation.

The election of a socialist government in Venezuela in 1999 essentially guaranteed that it would become the target of a CIA-led destabilization campaign.

Such campaigns typically include systematic attempts to harm the economy, tear apart the country's social fabric, and infiltrate the government, particularly the military and intelligence agencies.

Given this, it's no wonder that Venezuela has been experiencing significant difficulties with regards to its economic situation. It's also no wonder that Venezuela's government has responded to such threats by becoming increasing insular and authoritarian.

Isn't it funny how your "pointing out facts" just happens to coincide perfectly with the "regime change" narratives being promoted by swamp creatures on both sides of the political aisle?

A former top State Department official predicts that US sanctions will result in "a default on their bonds and a collapse of internal investment and oil production ... civil unrest, refugee flows across their borders, and a cutoff of Venezuelan financial support to Cuba and Haiti that could lead to migration flows to the United States."

And when democracy returns to Venezuela they will get their chance.

Venezuelans decided to elect opposition MPs to two thirds of the seats in the National Assembly. Maduro illegally ignored that decision and created another unconstitutional assembly. The National Assembly expresses the will of the Venezuelan people.
