No, they didn't. Again, the areas they inhabit now in Iraq, Syria, Iran, and Turkey have been areas of Kurdish settlement for centuries and in the case of Iran, millennia.

They've lived in the region they now inhabit for centuries, even millennia.

This is just a fact. I'm not sure why we're going round and round on this.

Who, Pelosi? Hillary? Bill? John Kerry? They were the ones who claimed Saddam had WMDs.

Later? Want me to quote John Kerry in 2002 again? I always love doing that.

I haven't read this entire thread, only the first page. But it looks like the conversation has deviated a bit from what it started as. So I'll just add this:

Whats happening in Yemen I don't think is exclusive to that country or part of the world. Its happening in conflict zones all over the Middle East. Various factions, both internal and external, seem to be in a state of perpetual war with each other. Our involvement in these conflicts only makes our purpose and goals in these areas seem even more confusing and muddied. We seem to be aligned with some groups in areas like Syria, while those same groups are also opposed to us in places like Yemen. And we align ourselves with countries like Saudi Arabia to combat terrorist networks like ISIS, yet its no secret that those same terrorists are funded by those same allies. What the hell are we doing over there?

We had an opportunity after 9/11 to get it right when it comes to facing off against terrorism. And since the 2003 invasion of Iraq, we have completely lost our way. We are backing groups that have been just as equally brutal and sadistic towards their enemies/political/religious opponents as the terrorists we have painted to be monsters. Donald Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia has proven that he is not serious about combating terrorists. With the weapons sale of the THAAD missile system, and the softened speech he gave, its obviously he has set his foreign policy in the region to align ourselves with Saudi Arabia to counter Iran. It looks like the military generals he once claimed didn't know jack squat about anything have sunk their teeth into him and are directing him to do what we have seen in the Middle East for almost 20 years now. Trump talked a lot about getting us out of nation building, and intervention. Its been 6 months and he has continued the policy of sending more troops to Syria. And now that the Taliban has control over more territory in Afghanistan today than they did back in 2001, I'd say we still aren't going to leave there anytime soon either.

My point being, we aren't gaining anything from these wars like whats happening in Yemen. We just need to get the hell out of there.

The Saudis have been aggressively fighting terrorism for the past 15 years and sharing intelligence with the US and UK.

Yemen has always been lawless out side of Saana.. and there have always been kidnappings for ransom.. In the past 18 years AQ and Boko Haram have moved in and Iran began funding the al Houthis.

When I was there in 2000 the Saudis had moved all villages back from the border 20 kilometers. Its hard to keep Yemeni suicide bombers out of KSA.

The situation is nothing like Syria or Libya or Iraq.
