From the mind of a wise man whom I much respect,

''Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted in important matters''.

The world was careless with the truth from the moment mankind walked the earth and had the ability to think. Even today , the world still fails in the ability to think, I accuse the world and all that run the world of being relatively ''stupid''.
Please try not to take this offensively, try to think in which the world seemingly fails.

So I suppose you would like to know what do I want? What am I going to discuss? What as this got to do with politics?

    Well let me ''tell'' you!

At the moment there is a lot of trouble in the world, trouble that is more like stupidity, troubles that governing bodies do not seem to ''fix''.
I personally have had enough of turning on the news to observe something else happening in the world, often in the name of religion and belief. However I personally think the world and who ever is in ''power'' needs to think, ''whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted in important matters''.
So what is the truth ? the truth is anyone who is not an atheist should not be in any sort of powerful position! why? their own beliefs having prejudice.
Most certainly an atheist who is neutral would be best suited for the job of making key decisions.
Of course the constitution of the united states would find this rather biased as the constitution states the right for freedom of religion and belief, however it is now 2017 and I think the careless truth of ''Gods'' which are evidently make believe should now be put into true perspective and the truth be told .
Religion is to say the least, is the height of stupidity, different religions believing in one god but technically arguing over how many one is.
Only a stupid person could possibly think that one does not mean one, no matter what the ambiguity of interpretation of ''God'' is.
    In example,

    Allah is one God

    God is one God

Allah is equal to God because one is equal to one.

Religion is arguing over ambiguity and interpretation and are not being too smart in noticing this.

One god, one love, one world piece.

Truth is not synonymous with fact. Get back to me when you have fact as opposed to subjective "truth". I believe in God, so I challenge you to point out how my belief in God biases my views.

You believing in something does not make it a fact, there is no facts or proofs of any Gods,(FACT). Why have you come in this thread and started it with a lie? I am afraid if you want to debate with me , you have lost before you begin. I can imagine all the frivolous litigation you are going to say, the defence you will ''say'', is prove there is not a God. I am afraid that just does not prove anything other than your desperation and lies to begin with. It is now 2017 and there is no facts of a God only make believe, beliefs.

As a devout, practicing atheist, I must disagree with the OP's premise that religious people should me excluded from positions of power. I have seen too many examples of atheists and agnostics believing in all sorts of stupid stuff.

I wonder if we have to believe in something. We then find a substitute for God. I'd list some substitute religions, but that would sidetrack the thread.

Moot point as I never claimed God as a fact.

What lie do you perceive that I told?

    Strawman.

    Speculation.

    Ad hominem.

Absence of evidence is evidence of absence.

Ok, I ''see'' your point , which is a valued point, however in my ''eyes'' a true atheist only believes in reality, people who have a religion are not quite with reality and the absolute truth. Obviously we would not want people in power who needed to wear tin foil hats, but in saying that we neither need anyone with religious belief to be in power either.

''Get back to me when you have fact as opposed to subjective "truth".''

You said it was subjective truth when the fact is, it is objective truth. You lied in saying it was subjective and now have contradicted your own lie by saying you did not say God was fact.

So are you now saying you believe in something that is not fact? Something that is make believe?

What is the boundary that separates an atheist from a true atheist if other than atheists who agree with you?

None of us are as we are all limited by our fallible and easily fooled senses. Scientific law is the closest we have to an absolute reality but as our knowledge of physics falls apart at the event horizon of a black hole it is obvious to me that what we know is minuscule when weighed against what we are ignorant of. It is folly to come to an absolute conclusion for or against God based upon incomplete evidence.

I've also found atheists to be generally intolerant and insulting. I don't want anyone with a "dog is my co-pilot" bumper sticker to be in a position to affect my life.

I do believe there are good people, both religious and not. I think there are better tests for leadership. We should elect people who want what is best for the country instead of who will give us the most free stuff. Of course, that would require us to be better people. We know that ain't gonna happen.

I do think religion is a sort of prison which holds our minds within artificial boundaries. Yet, some of those boundaries are very beneficial to societies. Depending on the beliefs, other boundaries are not so beneficial. I'd like to see people released from the bonds of religion but still have common decency.

A true atheist thinks things through thoroughly and logically, the rudiment of a subject. A true atheist knows there is not incomplete evidence of a God , there is no evidence of a God.
A true atheist does not overlook the possibility of a ''God'', but would interpret it very differently, more towards a scientific aspect. ''God'' does not necessarily have to be this ''being'', it could be an event or a process.

Either way I think firstly it is about time religion stops arguing with religion, they are arguing about ambiguity of interpretation of the same thing.

Only if we think shallow should we elect a person who only wants best for their country, if we think objective , we need to elect people who want the best for the world. The world is one rock in space, countries are made up of all nationalities, American's are not even Americans, Americans are Europeans etc, you are the kin of other countries to begin with, similar with the Australians.
In saying that though, yes the person elected also has to consider their own country and people, although the world should not be divided.

We disagree as to the definition of truth then.

    Truth

    1. 1The quality or state of being true.

‘he had to accept the truth of her accusation’
      1. 1.1also the truth That which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.
        ‘tell me the truth’
‘she found out the truth about him’
    2. 1.2count noun A fact or belief that is accepted as true.
      ‘the emergence of scientific truths’
‘the fundamental truths about mankind’ https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/truth
    Belief

    • 1An acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.

      ‘his belief in extraterrestrial life’
with clause ‘a belief that climate can be modified beneficially’
      1. 1.1 Something one accepts as true or real; a firmly held opinion.
‘we're prepared to fight for our beliefs’
mass noun ‘contrary to popular belief existing safety regulations were adequate’
    • 1.2 A religious conviction.
      ‘Christian beliefs’
mass noun ‘the medieval system of fervent religious belief’

    • 2belief in Trust, faith, or confidence in (someone or something)

‘a belief in democratic politics’ https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/belief
Like I said, truth is not synonymous with fact. We will have to disagree here.

We disagree as to what constitutes a lie.

    Lying

    1.
the telling of lies, or false statements; untruthfulness:
From boyhood, he has never been good at lying.
    Synonyms: falsehood, falsity, mendacity, prevarication.
    Antonyms: truth, veracity.
    adjective
    2. telling or containing lies; deliberately untruthful; deceitful; false:
    a lying report. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/lying

I told no lie as how truth is defined depends upon the context in which it is uses, thus it is subjective. We will have to disagree here.

There is no fact that proves or disproves God hence I never argue God as a fact.

Says who and by what authority?

You should take that up with someone who is a member of a religion which I am not.

I see you have gone into straw man arguments.

I disagree, 2017 years proves there is no God. Religion has had 2017 years to prove a God exists , the notion belongs in the useless inventions book.

I can prove the bible was written by man, in fact I can prove all holy books were written by man. I can prove these books were taught around the word and prove the subjective of these books as been brainwashed into people. The writers of these books being narcissists who had their own subjective ideas which many ''sheep'' have fallen into their ''cults'' of religion.

    Says logic and rational thinking

No, a person in power such as Mr President should throw the constitution of the united states out of the window into a burn bin. They should then go on to inform the church etc that they are all stupid.

Absence of evidence is evidence of absence.

You should take that up with Christians as I am not a member of Christianity.

    Gibberish

It does not matter whether you are a christian , a muslim, a jew or any other religion, if you have a religion you have been subjected to the subjective of narcissists.

Another problem I see with the original premise is the small size of the group. Ten or fifteen percent of the population severely restricts the supply of competent persons for leadership.

I do not recognize you as an authority on the above thus I take your previous claims as to what constitutes "true atheists" as a subjective opinion.

    Good luck with that.

It only takes one person out of that 15% to have a bit about them in the logical sense. But I am sure if people realised about the subjectivity of religion, the 15% would increase.

Do you know the problem with axiom statements? they avoid the little lies, I do not have to be an expert in logic to make an axiom statement. A person has their own mind to observe if the statement is true or not.

Fact - religious books are written by man

That is an axiom statement for example.

Fact 2- The words written in religious books are from the authors thoughts.

Fact 3 - The ''stories'' in religious books are the subjective interpretation of the authors thoughts.
