RAP. Any and all of it. Today's pop music is horrible as well. It is like hearing the same song sung over and over on the radio by women singing out of their noses. The current batch of music will go down in history as the worst ever. Can anyone harmonize at all anymore?

Here. The bloody "All the Single Furries" sheit. I'm a Furry, but f*ck me is this just outright GARBAGE.

Worst music ever made, second only to Justin Bieber.

Enjoy the dread, misery and pain.

I dunno, I've heard some of the big pre-disco his of the 70s, and I'd take Lil Naz X level of bad over rubbish from Paper Lace or the Captain and Tenneil anyday. 1974 was a horrid year for music.

As for my personal suggestion for this list: Songbird, by Kenny G. This complete tosh topped the charts in 1987 and is absolute trash. Nasally sounding out of tune horn. :|

Oi I am not having that. South Pacific has 'Wash that man outta my hair' and 'Nothing like a dame' and Carousel has 'You'll never walk alone'!

Is it wrong to be a theatre kid that thinks Rodgers and Hammerstein were extremely overrated?

    *Ducks tomatoes*

Like, they created some real bops but far too often the whole was less than the sum of their parts....but that said, South Pacific is one that I think still holds ups kinda well.

    South Pacific? :roflol:

    Not a Chance.

Maybe South Pacific may be in the conservation for 3rd Place.

As far as Musical Theatre (and "Theatre Kids" in general):

Cabaret (1998 Revival/Marshall-Mendes) is My Fave.

Sung Through would be Jesus Christ Superstar

After that, I would probably go with West Side Story.:salute:

Not really music but I don't care for rap. I know because I hear it occasionally at traffic lights.

Back in the 70's "Dream Weaver" and "Alone Again, naturally" both made me cringe. Had to turn off the radio every time they came on.

A dying man fantasizes about killing his faithless wife

Country music is so cheerful and uplifting.

Heavy metal is such a wide genre that spans several decades. There is a lot of it I don't like but there is a lot that I do.

When Tiny Tim sang his version of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" back in 1968 I was certain there could never ever be another 'cover song' as bad as that. I was wrong:

I thought the Beatles were horrendous when I first heard them. They had a couple of good albums before splitting. McCartney and Harrison went on to make a lot of good music. I also couldn't stand Led Zeppelin. I preferred Santana, Aretha Franklin and southern rock.

    Anything after the 1970's

An example of where music has headed

Critics are already declaring Fiona Apple’s ‘Fetch the Bolt Cutters’ the album of the year

...Blistering, Emotional Triumph,” raves USA Today.

...... a Bold Show of Unprettiness,” proclaims the Los Angeles Times.

.....“an ideal album for this decisively odd moment,”

.... a “product of cabin fever” that “occasionally feels claustrophobic,”

,,, music journalists concede that it is hardly an easy listen.

....lyrics dealing with sexual assault, bullying, internalized misogyny, and depression

    And on and on

What happened to music making your feel GOOD, wanting to get up and dance to it, melody and harmony and structure on which improvisation can flurish?

Now a days a record seems to measured on how sinusoidal it makes the listeners feel. I heard all the raves about Billie Ellish and tried a couple songs and all I could think was how depressive.

The Beatles were ground breaking their earlier years, under the guidance of Sir George Martin of course, and set the stage and direction for future songwriters and arraingers for years and still today.
