I agree with most of what you've written... "Abbey Road" was the last album the Beatles recorded, but "Let It Be" (which I always considered to be quite inferior) was the last album they released: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...nna-argue-about-the-beatles-last-album-82944/

But, you're right in observing that Epstein's influence was sorely missed after his death in August 1967, although many of us consider that "Abbey Road" (1969) was the 'zenith' album in a constellation of releases that music historians will still be sifting through hundreds of years from now.

"Revolution 9" is a complex subject all its own, and I won't go off on a big tangent, except to say that George Harrison may indeed have had at least as much to do with its 'composition' and thematic origin as Yoko Ono: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolution_9

Let It Be gets a bad rap I reckon. Start with the title track, one of their top 5 songs, add in Don't Let me Down and Get Back, I'm also partial to Across the Universe.

It's a fine album. Certainly better than anything released by any of them as solo artists, except Plastic Ono Band by Lennon.

Abbey Road is a better album, but it gets too much praise compared with Rubber Soul through the White Album. In my opinion it's the weakest of those 5 albums.

Abbey Road is also one of those albums where I prefer the lesser known songs. My favorite is I Want You (She's So Heavy), followed by Something and Oh Darling.

Rubber Soul > Sgt Pepper = Revolver > The White Album > Abbey Road, in my view. Though all except Rubber Soul change around from time to time.

Honestly, I thought that "Let It Be" was pretty 2nd-rate for something from the Beatles, and quite a let-down from "Abbey Road", but I agree with you mostly about everything else. Interesting that you mention "Rubber Soul" which I dearly love to listen to to this day! Oh, and how we enjoyed smoking 'that stuff' and listening to Revolver when it first came out! I tol'ja, I'm an old guy.... :icon_jawdrop:
