Same here, minus the farm. ;-0 Our two never had ear infections, diaper rash or any other childhood diseases that run rampant in schools. You are absolutely correct. It's not a heroic feat to take the time to do it. I used to tell people "You will pay either way. Do you want to do it on the front end or on the back end with a ton of prescriptions, surgeries and chronic health problems?" Sadly, most just dismissed us as the neighborhood kooks.

Exactly that. There's also the price the children themselves pay, for failed parenting. Evidently some parents don't give a crap about that, since it's not going to impact them personally. Nice.

Wow, you were considered kooks for making your own baby food? That's horrifying :/

I don't really understand why people can't visualize the long-term implications of their decisions. It's always baffled me.

Well, not just that. We did natural births with a midwife (to ensure we weren't forced into interventions or drugs), cloth diapers (for health and environmental reasons) and avoided pacifiers, bottles and such. Of course, MIL had to bring SIX pacifiers, bottles, etc.

I find is shocking that people cannot just respect other people's decisions even if they don't agree with them. Live and let live.

Ironically I ride a bicycle less here than back in the states. The bicyclists are relentless and if you are a pedestrian and you hear the little bell then jump out of the way or commit your soul to God. :)

In Michigan where I grew up I am told the governor banned the sale of seed packages for fear people might spend time outdoors!?
