Interesting. So you can draw no conclusions from the FBI and CDC data. Fascinating, but sad our schools our failing our children these days.

There is some truth to what you are saying. For example ...

The population of Chicago is 2.7 million. The population of the entire state of Oregon is 3.5 million.

In 2016, Chicago had 762 murders. Oregon had 103. Chicago had over 7 times the number of murders that the entire state of Oregon had, even though the population of Oregon is 30% larger than the population of Chicago.

I have had to defend my self more than once. At a 100% for success for surviving, I am going with my numbers for me.

    I agree,
Those that want to throw crockery, mops, brooms, use assertiveness and crystal balls to avoid trouble, have at it.

I will keep my guns handy and my powder dry......
    And my whiskey neat.

I am not a fan of the whisky of the Scots, not caring for the peat flavor, but prefer Irish Whiskey with it’s triple distillation process and oak flavor; a product of having tasted it most of my life and the memory of the revenge Scotch took on me at an eavrly age of stupidity that left an indelible mark on my taste preferences (something that also happened to me with Vodka when I was in Russia a couple years later). But, I say, each to their preference of Ambrosia.
However, I would offer, when I have shared Middleton, I have never heard anyone express anything but amazement (even non whiskey drinkers) of it’s flavor and smoothness, particularly, the ‘69 batch which is on price par with Louis XIII, Interestingly, John Jameson was from Scotland and now Jameson is owned by the French (Pernod Ricard). Like Guinness, many of the distilleries in Scotland are no longer owned by the natives, but by Diageo, ironically, a British company; they couldn’t disarm the IRA, so they did the next best thing. More good Whiskey, less Drugs = less Crime.

I am a big fan of Glendalough single-malt Irish Whiskey too. I'm an equal opportunity consumer!

The US is almost a whole continent. Comparing it to smaller countries like those of western Europe is ridiculous. There are whole regions of the US with low murder rates. New England & the states that border Canada (with the exception of Michigan) come to mind. Many south eastern states have high murder rates. There are parts of Europe that have low murder rates, then there's Russia at 11.31 murders per 100,000. One can't generalize over a large area.

Hence the warning against ranking by the F.B.I. in the uniform crime report.

If you indeed seek a non partisan non political statistical analysis of crime, firearms, and criminals, demographically, the F.B.I. is the best source of facts.
