Aren't you supposed to be a pretend social democrat? Why the celebration of The Economist (a publication which some argue has celebrated neo-liberalism)?

You didn't answer the question. Why do you think a magazine that celebrates neo-liberalism is a 'go to' publication? Strange choice!

Because a publication that supports neo-liberalism cannot be used for worthwhile economic comment. Bit obvious really

Crikey, I agree with you. I find that uncomfortable.

I assure you nobody cares if you are comfortable only that you pretend to be a libcommie but cant defend it while pretending you could if ever you tried. Ever see a conservative who is afraid to debate? What does that teach you?

I would look at long-term trade deficits and the more affluent parts of the Continent being flooded with refugees and economic migrants from the Third World.

I'd also keep an eye on labor force participation numbers among the younger demographic (20 to 30 years of age) because that's going to give us advance foresight into what the future holds. Teens and younger people have been pushed out of many jobs they used to do 30 years ago.

Housing affordability is also going to be an issue as all these people cram into major population centers where job opportunity is. It may be that average families will no longer be able to afford living in Paris, London or Amsterdam and maintain a middle class lifestyle.

Of more import, have you ever seen a conservative using economics with validity? I can count them on one hand and I'm catching up on Methuselah.

It's true the common batch of conservative isn't too sophisticated with economics or nuanced social analysis; but what they lack in sophistication they often make up for in common sense, compared to the typical progressive; the progressive runs intellectual circles around himself to explain what he already accepts as truth.

(It's basically playing mind games so you can keep seeing things through a certain lens, and not see what you don't to)

Common sense says "know your economics". So you've gone off on one there!

sure Milton Friedman did and won a Nobel Prize. Care to try again?

Nobel prize? How very 'I heart Krugman' of you.

You'll be saying Friedman's vertical Phillips curve is valid next!

you said conservatives don't use economics well. I pointed out Friedman was a conservative and won Nobel Prize in economics. You realized you lost debate and tried to change subject.

By referring to the Nobel Prize you celebrated Krugman. I found humour in that.

Do conservative economists exist? Of course. They're obviously outnumbered by more reasonable figures. But, when we return to a general- "conservatives can't use economics"- you're the perfect poster figure. Your reactions are always according to your political bias. You do not embed it within any resemblance of valid economics. That is why you invent terms after all

You mean my reaction that West Germany did better than East Germany was caused by political bias? Cuba worse than Florida caused by political bias? See why liberals appear to be very very slow to us?
