Agreed that it's a complex societal and political issue. As long as these countries remain mismanaged, corrupt and poverty stricken agrarian cultures the need for more and more farm land will be necessary as the population grows as it always does in these places. As countries industrialize and become educated the birth rate declines and the need to turn more and more wild lands into agricultural wastelands also declines.

Baby elephants do have tusks in a similar way that humans have milk teeth. The first tusks fall out by about one years old and new tusks then grow at about 7 inches per year

 

Poor comparisons with no relation to wishing death on someone who causes death on an innocent. Anyone who could smile and take trophy pictures after killing a baby elephant needs to be removed from society

 

Ethically I absolutely agree. What can we do? The poachers want to kill all animals down to the last lizard for the exotic trade industry. The entire thing just confirms to me that this version of human beings is a disease.

For the life of me I dont understand why religious people are afraid of the plague that God will send some day...it's quite clear that plague is us.

What about those who wish death on other humans? Is that better or worse than wishing death on helpless animals? Worse, in my view. The Nazis were worse than the elephant hunters, and so are the people I mentioned.

My point is that would be a better solution than herding the last remaining elephants into smaller and smaller areas but yeah the reality is that sadly ain't gonna happen.

 

The country makes money off of the killing of the elephant just like the husband makes money from the insurance policy on his wife after the hitman he hires kills her. In both cases the country and the husband are culpable in the murder.
