    Strictly anecdotally, the hospitals I consult to for services seem to have a number of patients from states around California as there local areas have been full for a long time, and many California hospitals have had a larger base.

    Of course, patients from other states who die in California hospitals show up in California deaths, not Idaho or Utah statistics. I would have wanted to see a deeper into the death rates.

    These are some of the costs of inadequate staffing and resources.

    Any high contagious disease requires considerable resources, not just staffing, but space and infection control, a single closed rooms with significant postive pressure, HEPA filtering, air-locks, cleaning, so much else!

    And why any contagion is critical to minimize!

    This stuation of this pandemic and a terrible lack of supplies for PPE protection has turn more than anything else, I think, to shut down surgeries, cancer therapy, care than anything else - how can a debilitating therapy get started, which is going to greatly increase a patient's susceptibility to infection from cutting down immune system response? I am going suggest a doctor cannot initiate that if proper care cannot be maintained.

    Further, the inability to maintain PPE hygiene for patient and nurse means starting a program that could cause infection unless death was eminent, which is true about unable to breath, but usually is not true for cancer therapies.

    A whole ward is dedicated to COVID, a ward usually empty except for disaster problems, and even a kidney dialysis has been restricted to a different for infection control. To limit procedures is terrible, but can be necessary until America prioritizes healthcare.

    People might consider waiting a little longer before opening up mask and distancing freedoms before going wild, both to confirm a increasing decrease of infections, and our doctors and nurses could catch their breath!

    Oh, wait, Texas, California and others infection rates are INCREASING, especially just before the next holiday and party times for students, so I guess we get to see if the gamble that "everything is OK" pays off!!

    As I stated, Utah managed to miss the first Covid19 Wave, and their Summer Wave was relatively flat.....see graphs;

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/utah/

    And then, unexpectedly, their health care system imploded.

    We recently had another unexpected implosion; Texas power grid collapse.

    I had the opposite happen.
    My friend went in for serious surgery, caught Covid in rehab and died.

    I don't know why they didn't vaccinate the people in the rehab. But I sure wish he had waited 2 weeks when he could have gotten the shot.

    I wish I had an answer for you as well. I wish he had as well. That’s just awful.
