come on, were all warriors, were all in this together - that is what Trump says anyways, unless one has bone spurs, they need to go into battle

if that is true, then the virus was here late last year or the states with low case counts would have had much higher cases, and if that is true, then the Trump shutdown was not necessary and Trump ruined our economy for nothing

most important decision of Trump's Presidency, did he make the right one?

Enough tests by who’s standards? TO TEST 300 million people? NOT happening. For weeks now in south FL, I can drive up to a test site and get one in a few minutes. Haven’t needed to but they’re available. It’s being reported everywhere in the REAL NEWS that we have more tests then we have people willing to take them. Go Look it up.

we know the White House has enough tests as their employees are tested daily, not the case for most of America

Oh God! What nonsense! We do not have nearly enough tests! Tests do save lives!!!!

My God! Didn't the wingnut echo-chamber educate anybody on this pandemic? Even on the most basic facts?[/QUOTE]

Yes, the RW did a really masterful job of educating everybody on total misinformation. And they did this even though quite a few nations were doing exactly what they should and succeeding very, very well at it.

My own feeling is they did this because Trump and his immediate circle were hoping this would kill off all the old people and then they wouldn't have to pay any Medicare / Social Security. They thought the younger people would just say "**** 'em, they're old, we wanna go bowling" after a week or so of lockdown and then let the pandemic "burn itself out" as Trump had, in fact, suggested. Fortunately even most Republicans aren't that much behind the idea of killing off their own parents and grandparents just so some crazy galoot can build a Wall in Mexico.

Absolutely no argument there. The difference is, every state has difference medical scenarios. Every city/town for that matter. Which is why the government needs not to overstep its boundaries (state or federal).

I have no problem with officials using population density to determine how fast they will reopen.

That's what Florida is doing. Except for the theme parks and movie theaters (and a few others,) it's up to each county to decide, and then each city can decide within the county guidelines.

The governor has asked each theme park to submit their re-opening plan.

Oh... I dunno... scientific standards, I guess. Nothing that would convince a true Trump supporter, of course. They only care about science when it's convenient for them.

    Try!

On second thought.... don't! Knowing Trump supporters, they are liable to lie themselves into getting tested. Which would waste a test for somebody who really needs it

I sincerely wish this was as simple as just a person being irrationally afraid. If only life mirrored our desires.

In this case it is exactly as presented. In a nation built on freedoms and liberty, restricting the people is tyrannical yet allowing people the freedom to cower in their homes for as long as they like is just. Sad it took us months of destroying our country to figure it out...

This thread is presenting a false choice, one or the other. It’s both. We can either move forward with the most information possible or not.

This is the same ridiculous knowledge argument (whether it’s good or bad to possess it) playing out.

Desantis was on ****ing TV telling people there are no lines, contrary to what you may think or have heard, and they listed the sites and showed live video of people getting it done. If you need one you can easily get one. I live here:). I guess it’s fake and my local news is just spouting BS. Local news shows location almost every morning. Sheesh. Wake up.

STOP WATCHING CNN!!! It rots your brain.

I would bet that, if you took a poll of small business owners and asked them if they would be willing to get the virus if they could open up on Monday morning, the majority would say yes. The customers, of course, aren't required to patronize the businesses. They can stay home if they wish. It is a choice. But the power and control of governors now appears to trump choice.

Choice doesn't matter. We elect government officials to manage and lead the country, because we as citizens don't do that ourselves in a Republic. If you give someone a job, which has as one of it's requirements the responsibility to protect people, that person has to make decisions based on that requirement. But it's not just the moral obligation, there are financial, logistic, legal and even national security concerns that also play into it.

EVERYBODY wants things to be open and to get back to normal, myself included and I have generally supported lockdowns because of their necessity(with a few exceptions here and there). The difference is, some folks realize that's just not possible everywhere equally at this moment in time.

And remember, it's not just about keeping yourself from getting sick. It's also about protecting those whom you could spread it to. For me, that means my family and my coworkers. I am not a person capable of writing off my obligations as a citizen and a member of this society by telling myself that if folks are afraid they can just stay home. That's a cop-out. And kind of a bad one. Lets stop acting like people are expendable just so we can pretend things can go back to normal faster than they realistically can.
