"Democrats are "dead wrong" if they believe the White House overemphasized intelligence regarding potential threats from Iran, according to a top Republican senator," this according to Fox News.

Host Harris Faulkner asked Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman James Risch on "Outnumbered Overtime" whether Democrats' claims the Trump administration "exaggerated" Iran intelligence are grounded in fact.

"The Democrats are dead wrong on that," Sen. Risch, R-Idaho, said, adding that he and other top lawmakers have been following the relevant intelligence for some time. Yes, for over forty years. That is the whole point. What's new?

Fox continued, "Risch went on to say that the Trump administration has been taking responsible steps in return to handle the potential threats.

"The administration sent Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Joseph Dunford to brief lawmakers Tuesday on escalating tensions with Tehran."

Please note, Fox didn't answered the question.

"Risch said recent Iran intelligence shows that the "velocity" of certain events has increased." I see, so what exactly is Iran doing?

"Anyone who would say the Iranians were not turning up the temperatures in the last two weeks of April and the first week in May simply doesn't know anything about intelligence," Risch said."

Is this a dance? Risch didn't answer the question, either, proving the point I made two weeks ago.

Trump's fans making a fool of themselves to evade the issues in this thread, Trump's phony build up to war with Iran while being completely unaware of the consequences of such a dangerous game.

In a way I feel sorry for them. They stay loyal to Trump but don't know why and they are incapable of supporting him. That must be awful.

In fact, I would label him as a compulsive liar or sociopathic liar instead of a pathological one.

    Compulsive Liars
Compulsive liars lie for many different reasons. Unlike the pathological liar, compulsive liars are easier to figure out. Their stories don’t usually have a ring of truth to them. They also display obvious lying behaviors, such as breaking out into a sweat, avoiding eye contact, rambling or tripping over their words.

Some types of compulsive liar personality disorder are the habitual liar and the narcissistic liar. Habitual liars are people who lie all the time. In fact, lying has become a habit.

Narcissistic liars are people usually dealing with a narcissistic personality disorder. These are people who usually make up grand stories about themselves, are prone to embellishment, and generally, make themselves out to be the conquering hero in all situations. Most of their stories are unbelievable or seem a bit far-fetched.

    Sociopath Definition
Sociopathic liars can be difficult to deal with. Sociopaths lack empathy and do not care if their lies negatively impact or harm others. Sociopathic liars can be narcissistic, but this isn’t always the case. Sociopathic liars are master manipulators. They will tell you a story to get you to do what they want. Being the “target” for a sociopath likely feels awkward because it conflicts with a person’s sense of right and wrong. However, a sociopathic liar will continue to get you to see things their way until you given in to doing what they want.

Again, sociopaths do not feel empathy. So, if you tell a sociopath that you aren’t comfortable with something, the sociopath likely won’t care but will act as if they do.

Quite right - none of us are. Just offering our opinions. But interesting reading when comparing it to the actions and words of individual 1.

If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the United States again!

I don’t feel sorry for them at all. They are who they are, like Trump. There’s a significant number of people who just live for the end game, usually self satisfaction. I don’t mind sharing the world with them, but I would not expect much.

Selective responses from Sandy who doesn't answer a challenge to his post where he stated "What makes this even more strange is that Iran has not attacked anyone and not started a war in two centuries".

"What a crock of left wing bs! You ignore the FACT that the Iranians have been extreme aggressors throughout the middle east since 1979 - their history is one of war and death against perceived foes both foreign and domestic.

The Iranian theocracy is 40 years old and has been involved in dozens of conflicts and direct attacks:
I'll ignore the 8 year war between Iran and Iraq since both sides insisted that the other side started the conflict.
I'll also ignore all of the attacks the Mullahs have instigated against their own Iranian people.
What about all of the attacks the IRG has performed against Iraqi targets since Obama gave-up Iraq and paid Iran 150 Billion $ to keep the Mullahs happy
What about all of the attacks the IRG performed against the Syrian rebels?
What about the IRG fighting with the Southis against Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations?
Are you forgetting the Iran founded Hezbollah? That Hezbollah has been directly involved in conflicts all over the middle east and even in Bosnia.
The Mullahs have ambitions to build nuclear weapons and the delivery systems to send their A-bombs to Israel and the Untied States - we all know the nutty Iranian Muslim fanatics would do such a thing in the name of God."

I didn't bother to mention the 444 days the Iranian "students" held American hostages in the American embassy and I didn't mention how the Iranians "captured American sailors in January 2016 and how the Obama people punished the American sailors with never a response to Iran - other than Obama puckering up and kissing the Mullahs butts.

Jimmy Carter helped create the monster and the idiot Obama gave them a pallet containing 150 billion dollars in cash and allowed them a treaty that gave them a path to build a nuclear arsenal.

Your revisionist post gets a super fickle finger for being so obviously a cut and post of the lies spread by the NYTimes and WashPo.

    Sure you are ( sarc).
Trump is the anti Christ for all America stands for. Trump uses the words and will say anything, but lying, cheating, stealing are not what America is about. He’s a criminal several times over, from paying fines for his bigoted rentals to paying restitution for his scam Trump U and his bogus Trump charitable foundation. Six bankruptcies have driven him into financial dependence of international criminals. He’s right on the heals of Reagan for corrupt admistrations. That makes him a hero of the fans of the apartheid version of Trump follower’s version of America which the Republican Party has become. .

There are no winners in war. What you break, you own. We invaded Iraq, unleashed terrorism and ruined the economy. Meanwhile, we killed hundreds of thousands of non combatants including women and children. The problem with chicken hawks is, they never envision bein* on the receiving end because the worse, the Cheney’s and Boltins and Trumps, all claim to have bad feet. Shock and awe is really ? It becomes, s.h.i.t your pants if you really had to fight.

I bolded your quote in search for your answer that YOU seem to evade. You lack the understanding that if you proclaim your choice it may be easier to see exactly where you are coming from.

The secretive, imperial President is putting on a huge show to distract Americans from his multiple problems on the domestic front. Yesterday he personally destroyed what little was left of the effectiveness of the Trump government. Trump announced he won't attempt any further bipartisanship until the congressional investigations conclude. He is still on the hook with the Mueller Report, and every day his guilt ridden behavior continues. He has several problems with his tax and financial records, and he has lost two federal court decisions this week alone, suggesting he will lose many more. The courts want a President who will obey the Constitution.

So, arguably, Trump wants to change the subject. How better to do that than spread fear that this naive, militarily challenged President wants a dreadful Middle East war with Iran and its many terrorist proxies.

Trump is considering ratcheting up tensions with Iran by sending thousands of troops to the Middle East — a sign he may be preparing for a serious fight.

Or, is this just another meaningless threat to distract the American people? That is Trump's favorite ploy. He used the "exciting" tactic when he was the host of a reality show. He still uses it.

According to multiple reports, the Pentagon will brief Trump administration officials Thursday on a plan to increase America’s troop presence in the region. It’s unclear exactly how many service members might be deployed, but reports put the number somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000.

This clearly has to do with the weeks-long standoff between Washington and Tehran. Earlier this month, the Trump administration said it had intelligence showing that Iran planned to attack Americans in the Middle East. As a result, the US put an aircraft carrier, bomber planes, and anti-missile batteries in the region, though it’s not clear exactly where.

The Trump administration still hasn't told us what that intelligence was. It has not informed Americans what Iran has done to cause so much sabre rattling, leading many to believe Iran has not changed its behavior in the last forty years, and there are no new threats.

It is all Trump. As far as we know, only Trump is issuing threats, not the Iranians. No more than usual, anyway.

Those moves, National Security Adviser John Bolton proclaimed, were meant “to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

Of course, if Iran attacks the U.S. or its allies. That is a huge "if" because it would be suicidal. Bolton does not provide any Iranian threats. He just says there are some, an old trick of the Trump administration. Just saying it makes it so, and we mortals are supposed to believe it.

There are still a lot of unknowns about this scenario. For example, it’s still unclear who, exactly, Pentagon officials will brief in the White House. And no one knows if sending more of America’s sons and daughters to the Middle East is the preferred option, or if it’s a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency plan.

That says it all for the Trump administration. No one knows anything.

Trump will not want to get his hands dirty. He will not receive the briefing. Possibly his SecState and NSA will. Always it is someone else who does the dirty work. Trump stays above the fray. He foolishly thinks that absolves him of the responsibility of incredibly dumb policies -- like stirring up a Middle East hornet's nest.

This source helped me with this analysis.

The Iraq war gave republicans the opportunity to shirk their responsibility of capturing Bin Laden. That, like the recession, fell to Obama to clean up and bring justice to Bin Laden. That’s the way it has been for decades as one fk up after another by gop, having to be cleaned up by subsequent liberal admins.

Speaking of insanity, you got to see this to believe it. This is our revered leader.

    https://twitter.com/i/status/1131653010390695936

Trump then called on White House adviser Mercedes Schlapp, who described the president as “very calm” and “very direct.”

Next up was White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow. “You were very calm, and you laid out the case.”

And finally, as befit the whole ridiculous affair, Trump called on Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders who said, “Very calm—I’ve seen both and this was definitely not angry or ranting. Very calm, and straightforward, and clear that we have to actually get to work and do good things for the American people.”

Soon after that Trump proclaimed himself to be an "extremely stable genius."

I was laughing my head off after watching all this. You will, too.

Was this a comedy act. No, Trump was serious. This all took place while Trump was handing out $16B more welfare to farmers seriously hurt by his tariffs.

This all began a couple weeks ago. It was new, strange even by Trump's standards. The President is threatening a war with an adversary and the American people have no idea why.

The American people were being told nothing. Are we going to war without knowing why? What is our government hiding from us?

The briefings came amid fears of “credible” and "urgent" dangers to U.S. interests by Iran, Republican Senators said. But Trump and the Republicans will not tell the people what those "credible and urgent dangers" are.

What makes this even more strange is that Iran has not attacked anyone and not started a war in two centuries.

Yet Trump wants us to believe that Iran will break that trend and attack the most powerful military force on the planet and is outgunned in every department, warships, warplanes, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and outnumbered in troop levels. Trump wants us to believe that the Persians are suicidal.

Well, it turns out it was all farce, a big show from Trump Productions. Trump thinks this is all a game, and his fans love it when he pisses off everyone. Of course, that makes him the least popular President in modern American history, but they don't care. Neither does Trump.

There was no threat from Iran. All the phony threats reported here were just that, phony, and most were quite humorous. Now it is all about deterrence, the Trump administration was forced to admit.

"We do not want the situation to escalate," Shanahan said. "This is about deterrence, not about war, we're not about going to war."

Sen. Chris Murphy said it best. "There are clearly threats to US interests in the region, but those threats are predictable. Multiple administrations, Republican and Democratic administrations, refused to take the steps that the Trump administration has taken because they knew it would result in the Iranians looking at US assets in the region as targets."

It is no wonder that most of Trump's fans have avoided this thread. Their hero was proven to be a two-bit fraud.
