Religious leaders across Tennessee are denouncing white supremacy ahead of White Lives Matter protests in Murfreesboro and Shelbyville..... Scores of clergy have signed their names to statements opposing the white nationalist groups’ values. The SPLC is respected? LOL, not for years, they are a shill for the "progressive" propaganda machine.
The SPLC has discredited itself by its own partisan and dishonest actions. The SPLC has become a joke, even the "progressives" are distancing themselves from it. And it has done that all by itself, so who I am is irrelevant (or do you need someone to tell you what to think? Is that it, you follow whoever has the right credentials rather than think for yourself?)
You don't get any more conservative than Southern Baptists. Good for them! These are the first Christians I've seen acting like Christians in a long time! The churches need to be vigilant and exorcise their own ranks. KKK types have laid claim to their faith. White supremacists think they are Christians, when at best they are in name only. White supremacists have blurred the line between racism and faith... Turn the other cheek has turned into guns and bibles. CINOs Anyone who touts their guns and bible is no Christian. They don't know the first thing about Christianity.
Then you must be disconcerted they aren't purging themselves of radical leftists and black and brown racists and supremacists. I assume you also demand that black and brown clergy sign documents denouncing racists of their own as well, right? I would imagine that a true anti-racist stalwart would be deeply bothered that only white people are expected to denounce racists of their number, because such a double-standard is indicative of a self-serving political motivation and not a legitimate moral one. Really? Can you lead us to the relevant Biblical passages? And what exactly does it mean to "tout" guns and Bibles? tout (tout) v. To solicit customers, votes, or patronage, especially in a brazen way. v. To obtain and deal in information on racehorses. v. To solicit or importune: street vendors who were touting pedestrians.
The Southern Baptist Leadership has its liberal and ultra-liberal leaders. Davis is in regional leadership, and does not speak for the Southern Baptist Convention - and the SBC a few months ago voted against condemning "white supremacy groups" preferring to remain outside of the political quagmire. Davis can speak for himself all day, he is not speaking for the SBC. But you have not read the Bible, so you don't know what a Christian is. You don't understand the "turn the other cheek" lesson, it does not mean a Christian meekly accepts all abuse, tolerates all enemies, and is just a passive little mouse. Jesus became physically violent when he was confronted with abuse, he was verbally antagonistic many times. You don't want Christianity, you want a spineless religion that agrees with everyone and has no principles..
