Three different doctors told a woman that the baby inside of her had a chromosomal abnormality, and that, if the baby did survive, it would most likely be born blind, deaf, and with cerebral palsy. They told her she needed to have an abortion.

In some cases the doctors aren't always right. Rachel Mary, now 19 years old at the time of this video, describes how she was almost aborted.

Once again, and off topic thread with no point except doctors make mistakes.....

Why don't you go to the "Doctor's Make Mistakes"" Forum where no one is surprised by this amazing and irrelevant revelation...

I wonder how many perfectly healthy normal fetuses (that are also wanted by their mothers) have to be aborted so that they can prevent babies with health issues from being born who "shouldn't be brought into the world".

They were going to abort her at 22 weeks. That's definitely in baby territory. (in my opinion)

If you abort a baby based on a diagnosis, there's always the small chance that diagnosis was wrong and the baby's quality of life wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad as predicted, or in some cases the baby may even have turned out to be completely normal & healthy.

Of course we'll never know in the vast majority of cases. Once you abort you don't see what would have been.

(And they virtually never perform an autopsy on an aborted fetus to comfirm whether the diagnosis was correct)

"Three doctors tried to abort me." Glad you cleared that up. I wondered if two doctors held a woman down while a third assaulted her womb with tools and failed.

    It's not a diagnosis but a prognostication.

Funny how so many of your posts inspire a big "So what?"

There's always a chance that ANY diagnosis could be wrong.

    Again, you have NO POINT.

There’s a small (sometimes not so small) chance of that with any diagnosis or informed prediction doctors make is wrong. You’ve not established what you think should change because of this simple fact of life though.

The implication seems to be that we shouldn’t perform any abortions in these cases because there is a chance, however small, that the doctors are wrong. The problem is that there are countless other medical procedures that could have massive negative impacts on a patient, even death, if the doctors are wrong about the need for them. Wouldn’t the same principle apply to them too?

If they did, you’d be posting threads moaning about them needlessly hacking up the bodies of the poor tiny babies.

    Rev. Clenard Childress essay:

    "#1 –
1,786 African American children are killed each day by abortion.

#2 – Abortion is systemic and deliberate, and the leading provider of abortion in America is Planned Parenthood.

#3 – 52% of all African American pregnancies end in abortion.

#4 – Abortion is the most performed operation on a woman. It remains the least regulated medical procedure and is often completely ignored by health regulation enforcement.

#5 – Since the beginning of the eugenic plot to fraudulently produce the case of “Roe VS Wade” to the Supreme Court in 1973 – where ironically five white males claimed “…they didn’t know where life began…” – a holocaust where over 20 Million African American children have been systematically annihilated by abortion and thus denied access to the American Dream.

But where did this eugenic holocaust and denial of the American Dream begin? It began with Margaret Sanger, the founder and chief facilitator of the eugenic and systemic plan of abortion. She was an avowed White Supremist and was quoted as saying, “…colored people are human weeds and need to be exterminated… reckless breeders… spawning… human beings who never should have been born…” Margaret Sanger, “Pivot of Civilization.” Sanger, was in her time, the leading advocate of the eugenics movement, specifically of negative eugenics, which promoted the reduction of sexual reproduction and sterilization of people with undesired traits or economic conditions. She wrote, “The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” Margaret Sanger, “Women and the New Race” (Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)."

All that crap about Sanger ( who is long dead) has been debunked over and over.

No, abortion did NOT start with Sanger nor did it start in 1974...how silly to think either...

If every black women who wants an abortion gets one, the numbers are perfect.

Why do you think black women shouldn't have the same rights as white women?

What has any of that got to do with the OP?...…….. NOTHING.

You are correct of course that the grisly procedure has long been practiced, sometimes of necessity in a breech birth, sometimes as an elective option:

"Among surgeons tools there is a certain instrument that is formed with a nicely adjusted flexible frame for first of all opening the uterus and then keeping it open. It also has a circular blade, by means of which the limbs within the womb are dissected with careful but unflinching care. Its last appendage is a blunted or covered hook, by which the entire fetus is extracted by a VIOLENT delivery. There is also a copper needle or spike, by which the actual death is brought about in this TREACHEROUS ROBBERY of life. From its infanticide function, they give it the name, "killer of the infant," which infant, of course, had once been alive." Tertullian, c. 220 A.D.

But the difference is that all these other medical procedures are performed with the intention to save life.

For every life accidentally taken, three lives are saved, so to speak.

When we're talking about terminating life because we don't think the quality of that life will be all that good, that's something else different entirely.

Sometimes, but they're just as often about quality and/or length of life, just as abortion can be. Abortion can also be about the health and welfare of the mother too. It's undeniable that your argument you apply in at least some other circumstances.

You've also not addressed the aspect that you assume because doctors could be wrong in an unmeasured proportion of cases, their opinion should be automatically dismissed in all cases. That approach presents issues across medicine, regardless of the significance of the condition and potential negative consequences of treatment.

We're talking about specifically terminating life because the prognosis for the majority of those lives is believed to not be good, not incidentally terminating life as a side effect of trying to save lives.

I would say that saving life is a vastly superior justification for a few undesired deaths than wanting to preemptively terminate life that is undesirable.

I thought you were talking about doctors’ prognosis being wrong, as was apparently the case covered by the OP video. You now seem to be shifting to the (legitimate) questions about the consequences of likely correct prognoses. It seems to me that doctors giving their honest professional assessment and opinions and the patient (the mother in this case) making the informed decision over how to proceed on that basis it the only reasonable way for this to work.

My mother got pregnant with the coil in in the late 70's with me and the doctors recommended aborting me as did both my Grandma's.

I'm glad she didn't obviously although a few fellow members here would disagree lol.

I don't think the doctors were deliberately malice here they gave their honest opinion, luckily the mother decided she knew best and in this isolated case she was right.

How isolated is it really though is the question and how many wanted children who were healthy have been aborted because of Eugenics.

At what price though? Are you willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep a “baby” alive even if that baby has no quality of life? When that same amount of money could go to saving a child with a chance?
