coal fired plants are expanding, contrary to the scare monger's retorts

(carbon brief is a left leaning organization, however their own data proves coal is here to stay for decades)

First of all I have to give you all the kudos in the world for actually reading the data and making a cogent response. It is actually quite rare that people actually take the time to study and understand the data.

That is my whole purpose in posting in threads about climate change where I know responses tend to be emotional and get personal. As a species we need to spend money and resources to clean up the mess we have made of the planet because it is going to be no fun to live here if the current rate of species extinction continues. This is going to take money, resources and a global effort. There is just no way around that. And it has to start soon!!!!!

I agree with you 100% that the sun has a role in climate. I would argue that orbital mechanics such as obliquity, eccentricity of the orbit and precession of the equinoxes plays a larger role simply because they effect the amount of surface area that is exposed to the sun over time - but that is for another thread.

Here is the thing though. We have just been through what's called a Maunder minimum in solar irradiance. The sun actually has a 11 year sunspot cycle which effects the amount of total irrandiance that reaches the Earth in Wm^2. So there is no way that the sun can account for the current warming trend. Actually the sun is behaving a little strangely now in that regard but that is another thread. Sorry for boring you with more data but I want to provide material to back up my claim:

So once this minimum in the cycle is over, the sun certainly can play a role in future warming - which is a pretty scary thought in itself considering the warming we are seeing now without the sun.

Anyway. your last post was a great one and I respect your openness to new ideas. Refreshing.

    How about some logic:

Many noticed that the sun isn't rising at the same place as before. This probably has to do with the earth shifting during the earthquake at Indonesia and later on in Japan. If the earth shifted as it did, and its axis tilted even slightly, wouldn't this automatically make the winters colder and the summers warmer? (Take a globe and check it out).

Also if there are more earthquakes than before, and there are more volcanic eruptions it means the earth is heating up inside. Since there are hundreds of thousands of volcanos in the oceans if not millions, wouldn't that have an affect on the temperature of our oceans and wouldn't that have an affect on our climate?

This of course makes the whole issue of man being the cause of climate change ridiculous. Better I think we start paying attention to all the plastic in the ocean, since it's something we can control. As for the 'climate, the best we can do is adjust to it - something man has done throughout history.

Who noticed this? Can you provide some evidence that the sun isn't rising in the same place or that the Earth shifted during the earthquake?

Yes we should clean up the plastic in the ocean but never in the planets history have there been a society of 7 billion people and growing dependent on a stable climate for production and living space.

It would behoove us to bring under control the carbon emissions we know are warming the planet rather than worrying about volcanoes or earthquakes - no?

It seems you are just making another excuse to do nothing.

Here are some references for what I said about the earth heating up from the inside:

Ice in Greenland is melting partly because of heat from the Earth's mantle, according to a team of international researchers.

The group claims that they are the first to find a connection between melting of the Greenland ice sheet and the high heat flow from the Earth’s mantle.

The findings, they suggest, could have implications for future predictions on climate change and the reasons behind ice melt in the region.

Here's something on the earth's tilt with the Japanese quake. The Indonesian and Chilian quake also tilted the earth but to a lesser degree.

I'm watching your videos as we speak. Entertaining but do you think youtube videos on the internet from highercalling88.com are good interpretations of science?

I wish the Daily Mail article had a link to the actual study in Geoscience Today. Still, they are not claiming there is no AGW just that we may be underestimating geothermal forces.

I would have to see the actual study to comment further.

Sweet Greta has not in vain
    run an inspiring campaign...

    Bezos from Amazon
has pledged more than a ton...
    a whole ten billion
    or ten thousand million,
    to fight climate change
    on a massive range!

Amazon chief Bezos, who is considered the richest man in the world with a net worth of some $130 billion, earlier said his company was determined to become carbon-neutral by the year 2040.

I am looking forward to Jan 3 next year when she turns 18 and it becomes acceptable to not just accept whatever she says without criticism.

Lol, you'll probably still get criticism. There is no problem with criticizing her. It is the personal attacks and venom directed at a child that comes off as repugnant lacking class or decency.

But that has been going on against climate scientists for years.

Is this data from the deep state? Let me guess, it's written in the margins with a sharpie. LOL

Humans are going to change the planet because the human population grows exponentially over time. We can either piss and moan about "saving" the planet or we can adapt to the changing environment like humans have done for millions of years. Newsflash people, you can't "stop" climate change any more than you can slow the rotation of the earth. Its complete fallacy to think we can.

Well, apparently we have already destroyed one planet - Maldek.

"We exploded a hydrogen bomb and completely destroyed our planet Maldek and murdered the whole populace in one blinding flash of searing flame. All that is now left of that beautiful planet is the asteroid belt."

Yes, we did that because of greed and strife for power! I see us standing again divided playing with the atom bombs for ultimate power. Will an innocent child get through to us? Not to Trump, as he has already demonstrated to us!

Cleaning up our planet together could be such a wonderfully unifying undertaking for all the many countries and their citizens. I am in!!

I don't have any interest in personal attacks. I just think her proposals are not in any way politically viable.
