There were literally dozens of them. I would not be at all surprised if you were not one of teh ones who pushed their meme by liking and sharing many of the fake news websites that inevitably contained a made up story designed specifically to pander to the restentment of the angry white man audience. These would appear on social media and get pushed by Trump supporters at the rate of two or three a week. Inevitably, the sites themselves would be either one page sites deliberately designed to look like a legitimate news source or right wing blog (far right wingers NEVER question the latter). They would appear one day, and be gone two days later.

In this manner, strong Trump supporters were played for useful idiots and counted on to deliver the Russian message throughout the social media world.

Since the direct advertising alone (not even the fake sites) reached 130 of the 160 million people who voted, and since Trump's plurality depended on less than 70000 votes, they only needed a hit rate of about .05% to do the job. Considering that the least effective advertising out there, direct mail, has a hit rate of 2 to 3%, the Russians only needed 1/40th of that rate to be successful. There is probably no way to prove that they swung the election, but the statistics suggest that is indeed quite possible. Of course, there was no way to know of this outcome in advance.

But the issue is that they tried, on a massive and systematic scale over the course of several years.

The other issue is that there is no doubt that the Trump campaign was eager and willing to collude.

If the Russians did not collude with the Trump campaign, it certainly was not for lack of interest or enthusiasm on the part of the Trump team.

And that should be an issue that any patriot should be justifiably concerned about.
