That doesn't mean it is for anyone else.

Why would you need to use hyperbole?

If souls are eternal, and exist before we're born, we are getting our turn. Seems right to have children and help them have a wonderful turn themselves.

If "souls" are eternal why do we need more?

Cuz in theory, there are souls floating around bored out of their skulls waiting for their turn to experience life. And we'd owe them their turn. And do our level best to make their turn spectacular.

How does anyone know what "souls " are thinking?

WHY do "we" owe them anything?

We can intuit their status. I know I'd be bored silly. And we're getting our turn. They should get theirs. And we are the ones that can give that to them. Seems only fair.

So you determine what these mindless, imaginary entities "think" ? That's some "intuition" !

Oh, yes, many, if they comeback, will get theirs.

Then how many thousands of millions of kids have you had? Seems only fair that you bring back as many as possible ?? Right?? :)

...AND, where do "souls" come from?

Where does anything come from? Why is there something instead of nothing? And I at least had replacement kids. Just lucky, one girl, one boy.
And who says they are mindless? Some think babies are just about to be born knowing everything, when an angel puts a finger to their lips and says, "shhhh" leaving a dimple under the nose. They then forget everything so they can experience it all fresh.

Someplace. Allegedly humans get souls …….are they "souls" before birth, too?

:) At least ??!!! Only two? Hardly seems FAIR to the billions of other souls....

Unanswered:WHY do "we" owe them anything?

    Not I.

But whether they have minds or not, , YOU cannot read them.

Uh, pardon me, but I prefer the real world and facts not wishful thinking and fairy tales...

The Angel story is as real or not as just about any mythology.

And yes, for instance, they are souls before birth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guf

We owe them a turn because we have had our turn. It's just polite.

    Notice it isn't called factology.

    Prove it.

    No, we don't.

Do show me the law that says we owe people who don't exist anything.

    No, it's silly

I hope the final years of your life are kind to you, and I mean that. I can't imagine not having family at that point.

And a large number are far more interested in travel than in the damage travel does to the planet. Until they get that little hypocrisy under control, any 20 year old musings on the wisdom of children can probably be ignored.

Unfortunately, that is the reality. Having at least two children is a necessity to prolong not only the species but your "race" and "lineage". The planet worries about nothing. Meanwhile we worry about setting up a colony on mars. The planet has plenty of time and we are amazing at adapting.

Colonizing mars would be great if we had an idea how to terraform mars, things that we don't know how to. Another problem is that the gravity of Mars is two times the one of Moon, but still 3 times the one of earth. As far as I know, we don't know the consequences of lack of gravity on life, especially during pregnancy. I'm not even sure there is even a theorical possibility of changing the gravity of a planet, so I doubt we could colonize it at all.

We can adapt to gravity, the problem is the radiation. We would need some kind of radiation shielding. Caves or some other sort.

I have two children, I have done my part to protect the species and pass on something for the future.

There's nothing nonsensical about this at all. Over-population is the behind-the-scenes driver of most, if not all, of our major problems. It's also one that will likely never be actively dealt with because of the implications to personal freedoms and choice. But mostly because human beings will not be able to use common sense to overcome the evolutionary, biological, physical, and mental pull to reproduce. Normally other mechanisms keep population growth in check but we have figured out how to control most everything to some extent. So this will be a new experience for the planet Earth. A species that can stave off it's own negative effects of overpopulation, at least with some degree of success for the time being.

NASA's magnets in orbit could restore the planets radiation shielding and enable the atmosphere to revive. Some frozen water remains there now.

Yeah, let screw up our planet and then go find a new one. That's just great, isn't it?

Our planet will be fine. Mankind, it's less likely. I'm in my misanthropic days, so I tend to think it's not a huge loss.

Yeah, that's right - planet Earth will survive, humanity - not so much. With that attitude at least.

We made up our minds long ago to be child-free. But, remember -- being child-free doesn't free you from having to pay LARGE property taxes to support public schools for other peoples' children. And you being child-free doesn't free you fro having to watch a lot of your income and other taxes get shelled-out by the government in a dozen different handout-welfare programs to support other peoples' kids, too.

You're child-free? Congratulations.... Then as far as the government is concerned, you are helpless 'low-hanging-fruit' to be plucked for the benefit of people who do have children, whether you like it or not.... :buggered:
