Congratulations to you for being ignorance free. What does it feel like to know all there is to know? We will expect great things from you.

I think you may have misread my last post. Might want to read it again after shelving your hostility.

No hostility on my side. You can read again without assuming any hostility.

I have repeatedly stated what the definition of 'proof' is. If memory serves me correctly, I think I have given it to you also. Anyway, here it is again:
"The evidence or argument that compels the mind to accept an assertion as true." source = www.tfd.com/proof ; definition #1.

apparently you are incapable of comprehending a rhetorical device.

It was a statement that this notion of repenting ones sins and opening one's heart to Jesus before death explains why so many so called Christians do not behave like good Christians until the end is nigh.

its a free pass for all their sins.

Perhaps you can point out where my logic fails.

Your logic fails because your premise is based on an assumption. Assuming that it would be a 'free pass'. God knows the intent of the heart. If the belief was never there, God would know. Remember the term Omniscience.

Then you have never proven a god exists.

No, my logic does not fail.

Simply repent and accept and every dastardly sin you committed is washed away.
If hitler or Pol Pot or Atilla were to repent and accept they would have been welcomed into the loving arms of jesus. that is a free pass if ever there was one.

Funny how Christians are completely comfortable with this kind of free pass, yet excoriate muslim shaheeds who wish to die in defense of Islam so they can go directly to paradise and their "just rewards".

And your point is what? You have never proven that the alleged super computer involving quantum mechanics actually works.

The OP is not about the Bible. A person with a view you don't share brought up the Bible. Apparently, their is such an intolerance to that post---that you can't stick to the op.

If that is what you desire to believe, then believe it.

    GEE... do ya think?

Then do you think I might possibly be addressing this part of the thread?

I have no comment on the OP... however I do have a comment on this part of the thread discussion. Sorry you don't like the part of this thread I find interest in, perhaps you should try focusing on the parts you do like!

Ok....well like I said--it shows how intolerant atheists are and how obsessed they are with picking on the beliefs of others.

    But that's fine---obsess away.

There are a lot of assumptions in the above quote of yours and to be honest I feel I'd just be wasting my time if I pointed them out to you. So I'll just let you assume away.

I think we should all be free to "assume away"... that way no one can be wrong.

Does CKW invite you to fight his battles for him or do you just assume everyone needs your help?

As you assume a lot I'm not surprised you would believe assumptions = truth.

Actually ckw and I have not developed an understanding as yet... so there is little communication between us. However, I don't see where my comment was affecting ckw. In fact my comment was merely in favor of what you were willing ckw to permit. If you don't want people to engage in the permissions that you hand out, then you shouldn't make them public... especially on a public forum where everyone is automatically invited to interject any comment that they desire to make as long as it is in context to what is being written about.

No, you said it would not work if the internal workings were observed.

I think if god exists, it is unknowable. And I did say IF.

But I am speaking just to the idea of randomness, creating marvelously complex systems, which to me is absurdity, utter nonsense. Since it cannot be proven, it is nothing more than a faith. Now, it might be a better faith, more credible, than a faith in a god that looks like humans, with our shortcomings, but it is a kind of faith, nonetheless. For faith is thinking something exists, without hard evidence.

Personally, I do not believe in a god, but I do feel, that intelligence is in operation, at some level, when it comes to this universe and the life that is in it. I feel like KNOWING this force, is impossible, and it can only be inferred. For me it relies upon occams razor.

But I am not a materialist either. I don't think matter is the foundation of reality, but consciousness is. I think materialism is just a way our brains can use to understand in a very limited fashion, in how matter operates. I am assuming consciousness is the ground, as materialists assume that matter is the ground, and all that there is. But unlike most materialists, I recognize I am assuming, and would never say it is a fact. The trouble with materialists, is they either don't know of the assumption involved, or they stupidly deny the assumption involved.

I would never be accused of scientific thought. LOL. I do respect logic, reason, and rationality though. And neither of these can negate my non materialistic views of reality. I respect the science, the hard science of physics, and mathematics. I do not respect the soft sciences though, for there is too much conjecture involved in those sciences. Too much room for dreaming up ideas, without a way to test them, using the scientific method.

Good posting One Mind. I suppose I should have recognized your foundation by the mere presence of the screen name. I do like your style of writing, as it is clear and concise, while at the same time explaining enough to make a person aware of your position. All in all, I was delighted in reading these comments of your. There is one concern however, and that is found in your closing statement. "Too much room for dreaming up ideas, without a way to test them, using the scientific method. " With the scientific method being founded upon assumptions, I cannot see where the scientific method has a firm foundation.... considering that the methods foundation has not been proven to be true... ie.. its foundation is assumption.

Reminding you... You did a good job on that posting. Congratulations.

Wrong again I never said that you really need to focus on who you are conversing with and stop confusing one poster for another!

None whatsoever. I am only interested in understanding what other people believe ane why they believe it. What is there to be hostile about? Any hostility you see from me is your own projection.

I hope you don't mind, but I neither require nor desire your consent to believe what I believe.

I do find it interesting that this central Christian concept of repenting/accepting is perfectly acceptable to Christians but is utterly abhorred when it is demonstrated in another religion, even tho its the very same god.
