Already answered that.....there was no pandemic panel in place for him to shut down. We have better science in dealing with it....but Trump and the GOP think it’s too hard and shut it down.

Dufus Moscow Mitch gives his stock reply like most republicans. He says the science disagrees. Well, not his science in his own government when it comes to pandemics and AGW. They just choose to disregard it. You guys are doing it now as we speak.

You mean the Kansas Flu which killed more then 20 million world wide ?
Btw, the first wave started in Kansas. Why aren’t we calling it the Kansas USA flu ? Do you think it was the result of chemical weapons experiment gone astray ? Gee, you want to blame Chima even when Trump said, China is doing a great job ?
According to him, they were till it interrupted his golf game.

I’m glad to see you admit openly wasting millions of dollars on things known to be of little or no value is “nothing of substance”. Very telling.

It’s also fascinating you are opposed to research to better understand the virus’s effects on the respiratory system as a way to save lives. Perhaps your idea is to rattle some bones over patients while chanting something unintelligible? Or maybe bleed them and administer arsenic? Simply unbelievable. I’d say nonsense like that is a much bigger threat.

If you are not going to pay attention there is nothing I can do about that:
“(2) maintain an adequate supply of such supplies in each State and in the strategic national stockpile.

“(c) Grants to States.—The Secretary shall award grants to States to enable States to establish an entity which shall—

“(1) serve as a statewide repository of the supplies referred to in subsection (a); and

“(2) provide for the tracking of the inventory and movement of such supplies using a private blockchain."
    https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/6607/text?r=192&s=1

If the States were doing their job, they wouldn't need that legislation.

Compulsory simple masks like those used by all in the Far Eastern countries would have drastically reduced number of infections and deaths. But hey, no one tells me what to do!

The thing that makes me so mad, they told people coming to buy my trailer (bought at 17.5 percent interest Cotter Pin era rates) that they would have to remove it (so I had to fight), they tell me what size house I can build myself in the pasture (denied 850 Sq Ft), they tell me I can't build on stilts in a watershed but it could be a ranch, they tell me what size fence I can have (can't exceed 4 Ft), they tell me what approved colors I can paint my house, and then whine like babies if someone ASKS them to put a mask on their Squat to Leak hypocrite face.

I agree. I just don't get it. It's only a mask. If my government (UK) had said at the beginning there will be no lock down but everyone must wear a mask when outside of their accommodation I would have been ok with that. Some obvious caveats would have been needed such as if showing symptoms then self isolation would be advised, which is really no different to what people do if they have seasonal flu

they are folks who are not Branch Covidians such as yourself who worship whatever you are told on MSNBC about the virus. It's become cult-like with folks who mask up with useless home-made masks and believe themselves to be morally superior.

I guess this jackass is your kinda guy.

I remember you saying derivatives and mark to market asset valuation were responsible for the 2008-2009 recession.
You "explained" mark to market to someone who taught accounting and economics? Hohhhh-Kayyyyy.
You were wrong about that, too.
Both. We need to keep small and medium business alive, and we don't need millions of unemployed, hungry Americans out looking for food and a job.
    You're wrong, again.

    F81D3C6E-D1B9-48A4-88A0-1812432678AD.jpeg

"Meanwhile, the vast majority of Americans are engaged in extreme social distancing and express hesitance about returning to their normal routines anytime soon, preferring to wait until there is minimal risk of contracting the coronavirus.

Within this context, it is understandable that more Americans say they are worried about getting COVID-19 than fear experiencing severe financial hardship stemming from the disruption to society. This mindset may continue while thousands of new cases and associated deaths occur each day, but it could change as the disease comes under better control and the economic fallout is more apparent."

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/308504/fear-covid-illness-financial-harm.aspx
You'll be standing over the wreckage of the economy while you wait for herd immunity, especially if COVID-19 immunity is weak and/or short duration.
Well, that's you. I think the Republican Senators, led by this jerk...

    56A9201E-4FEF-48AA-A852-CFC5285FFE71.gif

... are wrecking the economy. Even the Federal Reserve Chair was moved to appear on 60 Minutes to push for more government spending.

BC is a better choice because there's less COVID-19 around.

That's why knowledgeable investors position themselves according to the political and economic decisions of the day. For example, if the choice is inflation to clear debt, investors switch to real assets, from property to precious metals. If the choice is socialism, investors move their assets overseas.

Why are you so locked into the states stockpiling supplies when it means the total supplies needed will be higher and the feds end up financing their purchase?

Doesn't mean that they stop viruses.

Then stop fear mongering and there WOULD be adequate supply. Stop fear mongering and people wouldn't feel the need to hoard such supplies.

None of those things fight the spread of the virus. None of those things stop a virus. Immune systems and UV light stop viruses. THOSE are the tools we have to fight it.

This is not a war. This is not even a situation.

You sure did. You said that the "moral aspect of it" is that "science has shown that..."

Such as homosexuality? Science tells us that (for humans, anyway) it takes a male and a female to reproduce.

Science is NOT "medical experts". Science is a set of falsifiable theories (or, if you prefer, "a set of falsifiable models that predict nature").

Going out in public AT ALL "puts others at risk"... Does that "bring issues of ethics and morality"?

There is nothing moral or immoral about wearing or not wearing a mask, dude...

randU Fallacy. You are just making up numbers... There is indeed disagreement, or else you wouldn't be hearing opposing voices. And just because mainstream media attempts to censor out opposing voices doesn't mean that those opposing voices don't exist. Remember the doctors in California who got censored off of YouTube?? They don't agree with this nonsense. They think the US should be operating as normal.

Nah, I’d fight and die for a business’s right to manage it the way they see fit. I actually believe in freedom and personal responsibility.
Without them the way they were handled that recession would not have happened.

Yes. I explained how changes in accounting methods helped snowball the collapse. I provided information verifying the Obama administration reversal to mitigate the meltdown.

I see this a lot with self proclaimed teachers/professors on this board. They believe they have some kind of monopoly on knowledge so stop learning and rely on appeal to authority in their arguments. As a result, they know only what they were taught maybe 50 years ago. Then they mix outdated knowledge with misinformation from media and politicians and they have no understanding of realities unfolding around them. To be fair that’s a tendency of the aging process in most humans. An inclination to hold on to the past and not examine the present as well as they once did.

Nope. I laid out all the facts and nobody including you could present any information indicating I was in error. You still can’t because I presented verifiable facts.

Thanks. I agree with a caveat. I don’t think business favored already by arbitrary shutdown policy should be subsidized the same as businesses who were shuttered. Thoughts?

I love when people make a silly claim and then provide information proving themselves wrong. Where do you think the people not worried at all and not too worried live? Mars? What a ridiculous thing to post after categorically stating I’m wrong. LOL
We shall see. An effective vaccine in short order is the only other option and that’s statistically very improbable.

BC is a better choice because of population density. :)

Agreed. I suspect at this point you do a better job of that than me. I’m a bit heavy on ag real estate! :)

There would have been a recession because of the housing and asset bubbles.
Mark to market (the way it was done) and poorly regulated derivatives contributed to the recession, but that's about it.
Haven't seen it. You must have an inferiority complex.
Yeah, sure--you think you know, but you don't.
I don't think you're prepared to accept reality. A significant number of Americans are unwilling to go to the mall, dine out, take a flight, etc.

Where I live in Oregon has less density than where I live in Canada.

Not a bad investment overall given an increasing world population and eating hasn't gone out of style. That said, I might be concerned about the availability of water for some properties.

    3A946F6C-7BC6-4275-A073-B5286663EB3C.png

British Columbia is the key to bringing water to the lower-48...

... and I doubt the people of BC are prepared to make the sacrifice to bring water to the West because we keep screwing them around over lumber.

    Absolutely.

But, that doesn't mean science is addrssing the moral issue. Science describes a relationship between cause and effect. When we choose the path of action that harms others, THAT is the moral issue.
BFD. We all know how babies are made.
False. Wearing a mask is stated by medical experts the world over as one of the few ways we have for combatting the spread of this virus.

When you ignore that, you are doing YOUR part in increasing the severity of this pandemic. And, THAT is a moral issue.
I didn't give any "numbers". Maybe you're thinking of some other post.

There is disagreement. There are those who reject medical science. There are those who think it is just too much to ask people to wear a mask!! There are those who aren't upset by 100,000 Americans dying, or about the lost of life among medical staff who are dedicated to treating COVID patients. There are those not concerned about wage earners losing medical coverage due to this crisis, leaving them and their families uncovered as they face this contagion. There are those not concerned about the mounting likelihood of mass evictions due to nonpayment of rent by low income workers out of work. I KNOW there are people who are not concerned - many millions of them, amazingly enough.

The banned doctors also were promoting conspiracy theories. Please be more careful with what you claim. As if it matters, these doctors also were not experts in the issues related to best practice for contagious disease.
