The last thing the UK media promotes is anything extreme left. It is far more likely to 'propagandize' right wing viewpoints.
I might be mistaken because the American take on what is extreme and left wing may well be different to the UK take on such stuff.
I often imagine that the US sees our NHS as some kind of communist conspiracy, whereas here in the UK we see it as an expression of love and care for the whole community, and are willing to club together to pay for it.

What a sweeping statement. 'British Drama is all social lessons with mediocre acting and unapologetic plot holes' and that is said by somebody who avoids watching them!
Try watching the historical Drama 'Gentleman Jack' which is based on the diaries of a woman living in 1834, we may have different opinions as to it's merits, but personally I think it is wonderful stuff where the British acting is as good as anything ever produced by America.
Incidentally I believe the classic 'Simpsons' is a work of unadulterated American genius, and I thank you for creating that particular television series.

Oh agree with your sentiments entirely, however, that wasn't the issue. The narrative was pointing out an issue taking place in prisons in that....
...okay. So in order to highlight the problem within the prison system the narrative is created. It is based on a real problem within not only the UK prison system but indeed many. By taking this issue and bringing it into the open; into the context of a soap opera it highlights what happens and how the radicalisatiln process progresses in order for people to understand and look out for it. I would argue that the OP is dealing with the exact issue which if you read and understand as highlighted in your comment....
...the basis is the exact opposite to what you think. The vector being used to hightlight the problem of radicalisation is the soap in order for it to gain maximum attention. Once these issues are in the open they can be addressed by the various agencies involved. The "Independent" article will probably not be read by the same audience as would watch the soap, thus by fictionalising the problem in terms that can be understood by that demographic they then become involved in the fight against the effects of radicalisation and those doing the radicalising. The soap narrative, it seems, the opposite to your thinking; is not about radicaliastion per se its about the prison system and how to recognise what is happening within it. Read the article further....
so you can see that the soap narrative fits with the commissions aims.
I think the issue on this thread is read and understand before firing off on a tangent.
