Congrats are in order on your humanity, as a society we do the usual faux hand wringing for a couple of days for a given mass shooting and then go back to acceptance of these things as all american statements on our collective fweedumb.

That's how it always is with you people. Make an uncomfortable observation, earn a label from the swallow-n-follow crowd.

If that very idea warms the croggles of your heart as you swill brandy, by all means entertain youself, you and the defenseless gunless pantywaist society you aspire to and would eventually reduce everyone else to.

Ironic, given your baseless reaction to the level of gun crime in the US.

    1) the only "toy" guns I have are dummy guns used for teaching students safe gun handling and safe disarming tactics

    2) Obama was thwarted by two things

    a) Dirty Harry didn't want happening to him what happened in January 1995 when the Democrat senate majority leader and Democrat SOTH lost their offices because the clinton gun ban cost the democrats both houses.

    b) after the GOP got control back, that meant anti gun bills were DOA

I wouldnt have thought you needed the dots connected for you...

If leftists were thinking clearly, they would be promoting gun safety education in schools. Just like with sex and drugs, merely teaching kids 'stay away' (abstain) has never been an effective educational platform. With sex and drugs, we teach 'don't do it, but since some of you are going to, heres what you need to know.' But not with guns.

Like sex and drugs, some kids ARE going to encounter and even seek out guns. Refusing to prepare them to do so with some knowledge is the result of the cognitive dissonance that the anti-gun agenda has instilled in the left. The beleif that guns create criminals, as perpetuated by folks like in the OP, results in kids being deprived of knowledge that could easily save lives.

I'm a fan of validity. You used the term without thought.

I can stop you there. Cognitive dissonance would refer to the difference between rational behaviour and rationalising behaviour, the latter created by the need to select convenient information flows. Where's the relevance to this example, given we just have a reference to preference creation?

Cognitive dissonance- sex and drugs are dangerous for children, so we educate them to reduce the danger. Guns are dangerous for children, so we shelter them from knowledge to reduce the danger.

    -two simultaneous yet conflicting beleifs.

We can determine two facts from that. Fact 1, you haven't a clue what cognitive dissonance means. Fact 2, you will say anything to support pro-gun guff.

    I hoped better from you

Cognitive dissonance refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors. This produces a feeling of discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance, etc.

I've already informed you what it means. The classic example is smoking (e.g. I'm an addict they say, but my smoking is fine as my chain smoking dad is alive and in his 90s). You haven't referred to cognitive dissonance at all. You pretended to do. Puff chesting is a little childish!

Well since you live in England and are Master of all you survey, why not enjoy tea and as much gun control and restrictions that must give you joy unbounded as you realize the Utopianism and total harmonies only possible under a benevolent Crown that metes out priveledge and boon and bounty to loyal water buffalos, servants to the Crown.

Well done in your inanity. Shame you couldn't say "I've got an empirical study that shows...". Try next time and stop with the sheepishness

That won't work either, given the cowboy population of Mexicans and blacks. Shall we just conclude something more 40s German?
