My husband's boss had to fly to India to attend his mother's funeral. Now his entire extended family has it, plus who knows how many friends.

He's back in the states; quarantining at home. When my husband talked to him yesterday, he was sounding short of breath. He advised Mr. Boss to get himself to the hospital. He still hasn't gone.

I'll update as there is more news. One funeral = 20 more cases.

I am truly sorry to hear of this. Please feel free to keep us informed over him and his health.

How is your husband doing with this? Do this have influence on daily ins and outs of his job?

It's a brand new boss, who hasn't even completely figured out his own job, let alone my husband's model forecasts. Nerd's just kind of doing his own thing, until instructed otherwise. It's weird. We've no idea if he's gone to the hospital.

PERMANENT DISCLAIMER -AND- 4-RUBRIK WORKSHEET IN LIEU OF WALL-OF-TEXT

There were some important analyses from and including the last worldwide analysis to this one:
    Worldwide EOD analysis for 2020-09-016, posted 2020-09-017, 09:51 GMT +2, #12373.
    USA EOD analysis for 2020-09-016, posted 2020-09-017, 10:08 GMT +2, #12374.

    COVID-19 worldwide statistical analysis for Thursday, 2020-09-017 (GMT +0 - Greenwich = 20:00 EDT):
    ֍֍֍ 30,342,039 ֍֍֍

+315,579 new C19 cases over the day before, more than the Thursday before, heaviest Thursday on record.
For the 1st time ever, SIX nations reported more than +10,000 new C19 cases.

    TOTAL C19 cases: 165 nations with 1,000+, 94 with 10,000+, 55 with 50,000+, 34 with 100,000+, 4 with 1,000,000+.

There have now been 950,280 COVID-19 deaths worldwide, +5,561 of them were on this day.
INDIA has reported more than +1,000 deaths per day for 17 days in a row and for a total of 21 of the last 24 days total.

Worldwide 7-day-rolling averages: a record shattering +289,195 new C19 cases per day / +5,284 deaths per day
    +1,174 Indian, +865 US-American, +857 Brazilian, +344 Argentinia & +300 Mexican new deaths were recorded.
The number of serious/critical (ICU) cases worldwide: 61,349 (+136 over the day before)

    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:
    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 000.png

The big news right off the bat is that the huge number of +cases we saw on Monday continued into Tuesday and again into Wednesday and Thursday, but this time, on Wednesday, the world already broke the +300,000 barrier (in the week before, it first happened on Thursday), which grew on Thursday. At +315,579, this is far more than any Thursday we have seen until now in COVID-19 history. The 7-day rolling average in +cases = +201.3 fresh C19 cases per MINUTE, every minute.

The fact that India has crossed over 5,000,000 total C19 cases is less big news, as we have been seeing these astronomic daily figures coming out of India for weeks on end now. Currently at 5,212,686 total C19 cases, India, which just passed Brazil in total cases a little more than one week ago, is now +755,243 (the day before: +694,707) ahead of Brazil and,-1,661,910 (the day before: -1,712,408 ) behind the USA. Right now, it is more behind the USA than it is ahead of Brazil. Likely, by the middle of next week, that statistic will be turned inside-out. Stay tuned....

An extrapolation that I have running at the USA analyses projects that the USA will hit 250,000 deaths by 2020-11-018 (we are currently 5 days ahead of the projections) and 300,000 deaths by early January, 2021.

The number of worldwide daily deaths (5,561) for the day currently being analysed was less than the Thursday before (5,988 ).

By clicking on the hyperlink (in the title), you can learn to interpret the worksheet. Almost all of the text below this will now disappear. There was/were 0 nation-rubrik-jump(s) on this day.

It could be helpful as the week develops to look at Monday for each rubrik and then, later in the week, jump to the day being analysed to see the mathematical difference in the number of countries that have joined that particular rubrik during this week.

Total cases per country, descending (this time, countries with circa +500 C19 cases and above):
    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 001 -total cases.png

In terms of the countries with the most new cases:

    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 006 -new cases.png

5 of the top 10 nations are from the Americas.
Israel was rank 10 one day before that nation goes back into national lockdown.

In terms of total deaths per country, descending:
    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 007 -total deaths.png

    The top 4:

USA, total deaths: 202,213 / 21.28% of worldwide deaths (21.31% the day before). The USA is currently expected to hit 250,000 deaths Mid-November, 2020.

Brazil, total deaths: 135,031 / 14.21% of worldwide deaths (14.20% the day before, for the 2nd time). Extrapolated 200,000 death date, based on the daily average of 711 per day, from 2020-09-013 = +96 days from now: 2020-12,020.

India, total deaths: 84,404 / 8.88% of worldwide deaths (8.81% the day before), -16,770 from the 100,000-death-line. Extrapolated 100,000 death date, based on the daily average of 1,167 per day, from 2020-09-015 = +15.3 days: 2020-10-001. India overtook Mexico in total deaths on 2020-08-028.

Mexico, total deaths: 71,978 / 7.57% of worldwide deaths (7.59% the day before). No extrapolation for 100,000 deaths quite yet.

Combined (493,635), the top four nations currently represent 51.94% of all total deaths in the world to-date (was also 51.91% the day before).

In terms of the countries with the most daily deaths:
    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD Worldwide 008 -new deaths.png

2020-07-028 (Tuesday) was the first time ever that 2 nations simultaneously reached a rolling daily death average of over +1,000, reaching a new, unwanted milestone in C19 history: USA and Brazil. Brazil has fallen in and out of the statistic now and then. It's only a matter of time before the three -or four- largest C19 countries will have continuous daily death averages of +1,000 or more. The USA had over +1,000 daily deaths on the average for 31 continuous days. That streak was broken on 2020-08-028.

India reached a rolling 7-day death average of +1,000 (or more) for the first time on 2020-09-005 and has maintained it until current.

In terms of Total Tests administered per country:

57 nations have now administered more than 1 million tests apiece; of those 57, 10 nations have performed more than 10 million apiece: China, the USA, Russia, UK, India, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Italy and France.

END-FACIT: on 2020-09-017, the world travelled from 30.03 million total C19 cases the day before, hopscotching over 30.1, 30.2 and 30.3 million to land at 30.34 million. At this trajectory, the world will likely go over 31 million confirmed COVID-19 cases on 2020-09-020. Wait and see.

There were a number of important analyses between -and including- the last USA analysis and this one:

COVID-19 in the USA: statistical analysis for Thursday, 2020-09-017 (GMT +0 - Greenwich = 20:00 EDT):
    ****** 6,874,596 ******

+46,295 new COVID-19 cases, considerably more +cases than on the Thursday before.
There are now 202,213 total COVID-19 deaths in the USA, 865 of them were recorded on this day.
USA 7-day-rolling average = 40,919 new infections & 841 deaths per day. +New infections are on the upswing again.
14,227 C19 cases in the USA are listed in critical care (+70 over the day before).
TOTAL PERFORMED C19 tests: 95.2 million

    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:
    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD USA 000.png

We can see that from the last weekly average (Sunday, 2020-09-013), both major metrics of +new cases and +daily deaths are on the upswing, although by the end of this week, hopefully, the average daily deaths will have leveled back off to the levels of the week before. Wait and see.

    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD USA 004 - total deaths.png
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FACIT: we ended the day analysed with 202,213 total US deaths from COVID-19.

This means that we have currently lost the equivalent of slightly more than the the total population of FAYETTEVILLE, never to get it back again.

As of 2020-08-001, I adjusted the extrapolation upward from an estimated average +700 deaths per day (from 2020-06-001 through 2020-07-031) to an estimated average of +850 deaths per day in the USA. Here the current projected milestones:

2020-09-020: 200,000 deaths (the old extrapolation projected: 2020-10-013). 200,000 deaths were reached 5 days before, on 2020-09-015.
    2020-11-003 (Election Day): 237,500 deaths
    2020-11-018: 250,000 deaths
    (the old extrapolation projected: 2020-12-023).
2020-12-031: 286,697 deaths on New Years Eve, 2020 going into 2021.

    At current:

    2020-09-017 COVID-19 EOD USA 006 - extrapolation.png

This means that we are currently at +4,666 deaths over the extrapolation, which puts us also currently 5.5 days ahead of the milestone-projections. This value is lower than the corresponding day in the week before (+4,731), to note. As you can see, the USA hit the 200,000 death mark five days ahead of the milestone-projections.

I know it may be tiring to see these statistics all the time, but I do think it's important to follow the data-path every day and to put it in print, for posterity's sake, so that the naysayers cannot say nay without looking totally ignorant.

IN CONCLUSION: mitigate! Don't be fooled and don't be a fool: wear a mask. Wash your hands. Avoid large crowds. Think before you decide to demonstrate about anything right now: is it worth your health to do it? Get lots of good sunlight in open spaces. Respect the space of others. Stay healthy. We DON'T want the US-death extrapolation, which was adjusted on August 1st, 2020, to happen.

So, folks, this evening begins Rosh Ha'Shonah (the Jewish New Year) and I literally work the day through until the beginning of Synagogue services. At Rosh Ha'Shonah, all forms of normal work, including writing, are prohibited. Reading is not prohibited, of course, because one should read from Torah at Shabbat and all other holy days. It's not all that often that Rosh Ha'Shonah falls concurrent with the beginning of the Sabbath, so the services are a little longer and maybe, a bit sweeter.

I still haven't decided whether or not to actually attend services at a Synagogue or just zoom into a service - usually, the use of electronic instruments is forbidden at Shabbat and Co., but even in Israel, many are tuning in so. Wait and see. At any rate, I won't be on here until sometime on Sunday.

On top of that, I am getting a cold, which makes me VERY groggy. G R O G G Y.

So, for the first time since the inception of this thread, I am going to miss a day of reporting. The reports on Sunday will be for both Friday and Saturday combined. It's easier that way. This will happen again in 10 days from now, on Yom Kippur, as well.

Have a good, safe, healthy weekend, y'all!

Given that you have a cold I recommend that you be selfish and NOT share it with the rest of the congregation at the Synogogue. ;)

Good morning, PFers, and a happy Sunday to all of you.

I had a major cold yesterday and for the first time ever, I stayed at home during Rosh Hashonah. Was a bummer, but I didn't want to spread my germs to other people. Sometimes, I sneezed so hard here, even my dogs took refuge under the sofa!!

Before I get to today's analyses, which will cover 2020-09-018 and, 2020-09-019, first the Excel table excerpts for the worldwide figures and the top four nations:

    Worldwide

    Russia

You may note that for a nation that claimed to have a C19 vaccine that is now being called into question, Russia's +cases are again rising and so are the daily deaths.

It could be helpful as the week develops to look at Monday for each rubrik and then, later in the week, jump to the day being analysed to see the mathematical difference in the number of countries that have joined that particular rubrik during this week.

    The top 4 for 2020-09-019:

USA, total deaths: 203,824 / 21.21% of worldwide deaths (21.26% the day before). The USA is currently expected to hit 250,000 deaths Mid-November, 2020.

Brazil, total deaths: 136,565 / 14.21% of worldwide deaths (14.21% the day before, for the 2nd time). Extrapolated 200,000 death date, based on the daily average of 711 per day, from 2020-09-013 = +96 days from now: 2020-12,020.

India, total deaths: 86,774 / 9.03% of worldwide deaths (8.96% the day before), -16,770 from the 100,000-death-line. Extrapolated 100,000 death date, based on the daily average of 1,167 per day, from 2020-09-015 = +15.3 days: 2020-10-001. India overtook Mexico in total deaths on 2020-08-028.

Mexico, total deaths: 72,803 / 7.58% of worldwide deaths (7.55% the day before). No extrapolation for 100,000 deaths quite yet.

Combined (499,996), the top four nations currently represent 52.03% of all total deaths in the world to-date (was also 51.98% the day before).

    And.....

    The top 4 for 2020-09-018:

USA, total deaths: 203,167 / 21.26% of worldwide deaths (21.28% the day before). The USA is currently expected to hit 250,000 deaths Mid-November, 2020.

Brazil, total deaths: 135,857 / 14.21% of worldwide deaths (14.21% the day before, for the 2nd time). Extrapolated 200,000 death date, based on the daily average of 711 per day, from 2020-09-013 = +96 days: 2020-12,020.

India, total deaths: 85,625 / 8.96% of worldwide deaths (8.88% the day before), -16,770 from the 100,000-death-line. Extrapolated 100,000 death date, based on the daily average of 1,167 per day, from 2020-09-015 = +15.3 days: 2020-10-001. India overtook Mexico in total deaths on 2020-08-028.

Mexico, total deaths: 72,179 / 7.55% of worldwide deaths (7.57% the day before). No extrapolation for 100,000 deaths quite yet.

Combined (496,828), the top four nations currently represent 51.98% of all total deaths in the world to-date (was also 51.94% the day before).

In terms of the countries with the most daily deaths:
    2020-09-019 EOD Worldwide 008 - new deaths.png

END-FACIT: on 2020-09-019, the world travelled from 30.43 million total C19 cases over 48 hours before, hopscotching over 30.5, 30.6, 30.7, 30.8 and 30.9 million to land just under 31 million: 30.97 million. The world will likely go over 31 million confirmed COVID-19 cases early in the day on 2020-09-020. As a matter of fact, I just checked: it already has before I could finish this analysis.

    COVID-19 in the USA: analysis for for Fri-Sat, 2020-09-018 & 019 (GMT +0 - Greenwich = 20:00 EDT):
THE USA IS POISED TO GO OVER 7 MILLION COVID-19 CASES ON SUNDAY, 2020-09-020

    ****** 6,967,403 at EOD 2020-09-019 ******
    ****** 6,924,870 at EOD 2020-09-018 ******

+42,533 new COVID-19 cases 2020-09-019 over 2020-09-018, more than the Saturday before.
+50,274 new COVID-19 cases 2020-09-018 over 2020-09-017, more than the Friday before, highest +case load since 2020-09-004.

There are now 203,824 total COVID-19 deaths in the USA.
+657 of those deaths were recorded on 2020-09-019, +954 of them were recoded on 2020-09-018.

USA 7-day-rolling average = 41,543 new infections & 814 deaths per day. +New infections are on the upswing again.
14,084 C19 cases in the USA are listed in critical care (-193 over 48 hours before before).
TOTAL PERFORMED C19 tests: 97.3 million

    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:
    2020-09-018 and 019 EOD USA 000.png

I just want to say that the rise in cases probably does not have anything to do with the Labor Day weekend yet. Those rises are probably more because of a rise once again in total reported testing. The fall wave has not really begun yet. When it does, we will all notice it.

Sunday one week ago, the USA accumulated +31,857 new C19 cases. In order to the USA to go over 7 million cases today, it only needs to add +32,597 and considering that the USA has seen more daily cases every day this week thus far over each corresponding day in the week before, the probability is very high that the USA will just go over 7 million cases today, Sunday, 2020-09-020. If not, it will just barely miss 7 million today and easily go over that number tomorrow

Wisconsin saw a large jump in +daily cases. Also, both Arkansas and Utah made the +1,000 list, but so did New York.

And BTW, when Trump said a number of days ago that "when you remove the blue states, we are doing wonderfully", look at all the states with +500 or more cases. That's 28 states. 20 of those top 28 states cast their electors for Trump after the 2016 general elections.

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, total deaths:
    2020-09-019 EOD USA 004 - total deaths.png
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FACIT: we ended the 48 hour period analysed with 203,824 total US deaths from COVID-19.

This means that we have currently lost the equivalent of slightly more than the the total population of FAYETTEVILLE, but slightly less than the population of MORENO VALLEY, never to get the one or the other back again.

    At current:

    2020-09-018 and 019 EOD USA 006 - extrapolation.png

This means that we are currently at +4,577 deaths over the extrapolation, which puts us also currently 5.4 days ahead of the milestone-projections. This value is lower than the corresponding day in the week before (+4,831), to note. As you can see, the USA hit the 200,000 death mark five days ahead of the milestone-projections.

I know it may be tiring to see these statistics all the time, but I do think it's important to follow the data-path every day and to put it in print, for posterity's sake, so that the naysayers cannot say "nay" without looking totally ignorant.

Just noticed that although TX has FEWER cases than CA it has now OVERTAKEN CA with number of Deaths.

    CA Cases 783,657 Deaths 14,987
    TX Cases 720,281 Deaths 15,172

TX currently at 523 deaths per 1M pop, 82,600 active cases.

Prior to Memorial Day, Texas had 58 deaths per 1M pop, and the above-average intelligent know what happened.

    Good catch!

CA is only at 379 deaths per 1M while FL is at 619 which is even higher than TX!

I've been absent from this thread since the start of our own Second Wave here, preferring to give my COVID energies to that daily horror story. Since it's somewhat settled now (thanks to our awesome protocols and good compliance), this seems as good a place as any to hang about waiting for numbers :p

    COVID-19 worldwide statistical analysis for Sunday, 2020-09-020 (GMT +0 - Greenwich = 20:00 EDT):
    ֍֍֍* 31,229,795 *֍֍֍
The WORLD goes over 31,000,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases
The USA goes over 7,000,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases

+253,174 new C19 cases over the day before, more than the Sunday before
    TOTAL C19 cases: 165 nations with 1,000+, 95 with 10,000+, 56 with 50,000+, 36 with 100,000+, 4 with 1,000,000+.

There have now been 964,762 COVID-19 deaths worldwide, +3,890 of them were on this day.
The world is now just over 35,000 away from 1,000,000 COVID-19 deaths.
INDIA has reported more than +1,000 deaths per day for 20 days in a row and for a total of 24 of the last 27 days total.

Worldwide weekly rolling averages: a record shattering +293,477 new C19 cases per day / +5,254 deaths per day
+1,135 Indian, +455 Mexican, +330 Brazilian & 294 US-American new deaths were recorded on this day.
The number of serious/critical (ICU) cases worldwide: 61,468 (+105 over the day before)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:
    2020-09-020 EOD Worldwide 000.png

From EOD Sunday, 2020-09-013 through EOD Sunday 2020-09-020 (8 days), our world jumped 2 million cases (+2,054,341, to be exact), from just over 29 million to just over 31 million. For historical context: it took our world 4.5 months to get just over 2,054,000 total cases (2.73 million), on April 15th, 2020. What took us four-and-one-half months to do at the beginning, we just accomplished in only eight days time. Very sobering, indeed.

A lot of important things pertaining to C19 history happened in this week, apart from the world jumping the million mark twice (30 and 31 million):

The world experienced three days in a row of more than +300,000 new C19 cases and what could have been a fourth day ended up just under +300,000 (+291,000).

On Tuesday, 2020-09-015, India crossed over the 5 million mark.

For the second week in a row, India had over +90,000 daily cases for 5 consecutive days, this time from Tuesday through Saturday.

The USA crossed over 200,000 total deaths on Tuesday, 2020-09-015 and it crossed over 7 million cases on 2020-09-020.

Israel was the world's first industrialized nation to go into national lockdown for a 2nd time because of COVID-19, starting on Friday, 2020-09-018, which also happened to be the beginning of Rosh Hashonah.

The fact that India has crossed over 5,000,000 total C19 cases is less big news, as we have been seeing these astronomic daily figures coming out of India for weeks on end now. The bigger news is that it is only a matter of time before India overtakes the USA in total C19 cases. Currently at 5,485,612 total C19 cases, India, which just passed Brazil in total exactly two 2 weeks ago, is now +940,983 (the day before: +869.883) ahead of Brazil and at the same time, -1,519,156 (the day before: -1,573,793) behind the USA. Right now, it is more behind the USA than it is ahead of Brazil. Likely, by the Thursday or Friday of the week starting today, that statistic will be turned inside-out. Stay tuned....

An extrapolation that I have running at the USA analyses projects that the USA will hit 250,000 deaths by 2020-11-018 (we are currently 5 days ahead of the projections) and 300,000 deaths by early January, 2021.

The number of worldwide daily deaths (3,890) for the day being analysed was minimally less than the Sunday before (3,906).

    2020-09-020 EOD Worldwide 009 -rubrik worktable.png

By clicking on the hyperlink (in the title), you can learn to interpret the worksheet. Almost all of the text below this will now disappear. There was/were 2 nation-rubrik-jump(s) on these two days: Morocco and Belgium. For the entire week, There was/were 8 nation-rubrik-jump(s), most in the rubrik of total cases, but also one in the rubrik of total deaths. Belgium, which just went over 100,000 total C19 cases, is just about to go over 10,000 total deaths as well, it stands currently at 9,944. Belgium's mortality rate (total deaths/total cases) at current is therefore: 9.87%.

6 of the top 10 nations are from the Americas.

Israel was once again rank 10, just like the 10 days before..

    The top 4 for 2020-09-019:

USA, total deaths: 204,118 / 21.16% of worldwide deaths (21.21% the day before). The USA is currently expected to hit 250,000 deaths Mid-November, 2020.

Brazil, total deaths: 136,895 / 14.19% of worldwide deaths (14.21% the day before, for the 2nd time). Extrapolated 200,000 death date, based on the daily average of 711 per day, from 2020-09-013 = +96 days from now: 2020-12,020.

India, total deaths: 87,909 / 9.11% of worldwide deaths (9.03% the day before), -12,091 from the 100,000-death-line. Extrapolated 100,000 death date, based on the daily average of 1,167 per day, from 2020-09-015 = +15.3 days: 2020-10-001. India overtook Mexico in total deaths on 2020-08-028.

Mexico, total deaths: 73,258 / 7.56% of worldwide deaths (7.58% the day before). No extrapolation for 100,000 deaths quite yet.

Combined (502,180), the top four nations currently represent 52.05% of all total deaths in the world to-date (was also 51.98% the day before).

In terms of the countries with the most daily deaths:

END-FACIT: on 2020-09-020, the world travelled from 30.97 million total C19 cases over the day before, hopscotching over 31.0, 31.1 and 31.2 million to land at 31.23 million. The world will likely go over 32 million confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday 2020-09-023, or on Thursday, 2020-09-024 at the latest.
