Today, 2022-01-028, Russia has reported in with +98,040 fresh C19 cases, which means that it is very likely that by next week, Russia will also be clocking over +100,000 new cases per day.

Also, today, 2022-01-028, Japan has reported in with just under +74,000 and is also working it's way toward a steady +100,000 on a daily basis.

And if you think that the Omikron wave is abating in places like Denmark, Belgium or the Netherlands, think again. Denmark has already clocked-in today with +50,392 cases, setting a new record for a nation of only 5.8 million people, while Belgium has reported +68,285 and Netherlands has reported a whalloping +74,019 such cases. Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are often called collectively the "Benelux nations" so with numbers like these out of the larger 2 of the 3, I will be curious to see what little Luxembourg reports today. More on this later.

As you've alluded to, there's a strong correlation between the frequency of testing and high numbers of cases. In other words to everyone else, the more testing the higher number of cases. In other words, many people have Covid and don't know they have Covid unless they're tested.
Not a higher mortality rate or higher causalty rate with frequency of testing but a higher cases rate.

I think it's time to stop worrying about number of cases. I think it's time to let natural immunity take over. I think it's time to quarantine the elderly and those with multiple co-morbidities and let everyone else be protected by their natural immune systems. In other words, it's time to get back to normal. To live life with Covid. It's time to stop the multiple jabs which experimentally change our immune systems with every jab (with no studies of the effects of multiple jabs on the immune system). It's time to stop the multiple jabs which prevent natural immunity due to the immune system being experimentally changed with every jab.

Imagine doing more rapid tests and finding more cases. Crazy!

Imagine reducing the number of tests so that there are fewer cases.

I am not really sure to whom you are talking here, but first, welcome to the thread. Second, many many many times in the course of this thread we have discussed the topic of average daily tests vs positive test values. Third, if you know anything about Germany, then you would know aoready that the RKI publishes numbers that are 9-11 days old because they have a very, very stringent method of double, triple and quadruple checking anything before releasing data and therefore the RKI already knows well in advance how the numbers are going to look. Fourth, actually, in Germany, the testing has been on a more gradual increase and I can prove it through the numbers. Fifth, if you want to make a point, then make a point instead of posting a smartass comment that does nothing to further communication.

And sixth, in other words, everyone is welcome here, but trollish behaviour is not. LEARN FROM THIS MOMENT, IF YOU CAN. Or go swing from the trees and beat your chest elsewhere where trolls can thrive, but they do not here on this thread.

And thank you for your future QUALITY participation, nöööööö

You're going to need to quarantine the unvaccinated as well then since they are now the vulnerable.

The figures for Wednesday, 2022-01-026 and Thursday, 2022-01-027 are both final, both using the "2 days ago" function from WorldOMeter. First the excel calculations:

    2022-01-026 & 027 WORLDWIDE 000.png

Worldwide the +case figures for Wednesday and Thursday are less than the corresponding weekdays one week before but the avg. daily cases are still higher? Why, because the weekend values from last weekend were considerably higher than the week before that. On the +deaths front we are seeing a rise from Wednesday and Thursday vis-a-vis the corresponding weekdays one week before, by about +800 more deaths per day. That's a statistically significant rise, but not a huge rise and could also just be a temporary blip. Time will tell.

    In the USA:

    2022-01-026 & 027 USA 000.png

In the USA the +case figures for Wednesday and Thursday are considerably less than the corresponding weekdays one week before and so are avg. daily cases On the +deaths front it's looking like a plateau vis-a-vis the corresponding weekdays one week before. Testing in the USA has verifiably fallen by about -800,000 tests per day over the corresponding weekdays one week before.

Here the raw data, by +cases:

    2022-01-026 Worldwide 005 -plus cases.png 2022-01-026 Worldwide 006 -plus cases.png 2022-01-026 Worldwide 007 -plus cases.png

    2022-01-027 Worldwide 005 -plus cases.png 2022-01-027 Worldwide 006 -plus cases.png 2022-01-027 Worldwide 007 -plus cases.png

All in all, as I mentioned yesterday, it's looking like a plateau forming, but that plateau may be short-lived. Yes, there are less +cases in the USA, but +cases are on the rise in other place, most notably Germany, Russia, Brazil and India.

Here a quick overview of the prelim figures from yesterday, Friday, 2022-01-028:

    2022-01-028 - Worldwide 005 - plus cases (prelim).png

On Monday, 2022-01-031, I will do a "2 days ago" pass in review for both Friday and Saturday (today) of this week.

Today, Saturday, 2022-01-029, two Covid-19 events have already happened that I predicted in the last days would happen in short order:

2022-01-029 - Worldwide 001 total cases (escerpt with emphasis on Russia and Ukraine).png

As projected would happen, Russia has now joined the +100,000-case-club. This is the very first day in Russia's Covid-19 history where this has happened. For those who have been watching the Russian numbers with me, you know that Russia very carefully controls the flow of their numbers, the numbers have been, until now, way too evenly spread out, but after hitting just over +98,000 cases on Friday, Russia has jumped to over +113,000 on a Saturday, unusual for that nation.

And sadly, Ukraine has now surpassed 100,000 total Covid-19 deaths. It is the 16th nation on Earth thus far to have reached this gruesome marker.

What a way to begin the weekend.

Oh, and cases are rising in Iran yet again. Iran was almost looking like a success story there for a while. This is also Iran's SIXTH wave. That country appears to be a different universe, or something...

You don't need to quarantine the unvaccinated who aren't highly susceptible to Covid...The non-elderly and the non-multiple co-morbidic because their natural immunity will protect them.

On Friday, 2022-01-028, Luxembourg reported +2,552 cases. Doesn't seem like much compared to the other 2 Benelux nations, until you also factor in that only 642,000 people live in little bitty luxurious Luxembourg, which means that yesterday, 0.4% of their population was reported as newly C19-positive. This now brings the small nation to a total of 153,435 cases, which is 23.9% of their total population.

The Germans have a phrase to encapsulate this: "Kleinvieh macht aus Mist." ("Small animals also crap on the ground"), meaning, it all adds up.

Washington trooper who defied state vaccine mandate and told gov to 'kiss my a--' dies from COVID-19 | Fox News

    RIP Trooper Robert LaMay

    2022-01-029 - FOX - state trooper dies from C19.png

I am not sure which surprised me more: the headline itself or the "news" network willing to print it.

Anyhow, had this guy not acted like such a dick, we would never have known his name.

What a shame, because it ends up he was a really good cop and respected and what a shame that he swallowed the propaganda and the propaganda killed him.

There is just no other way to put it. Had he been vaccinated at only age 51 and obviously very fit, he would very likely still be alive to stay.

His own stubbornness did him in.

    What a shame.

    "While you were sleeping..."

Slovakia is now at 987,083 cases and added +15,118 cases out of them today, Saturday, 2022-01-029.

Slovakia ended 2021 with 841,733 cases and had been moving slowly throughout 2021, but the last 2 weeks have seen a veritable explosion of cases in this country.

I have to admit, I didn't see this one coming up so strong and so fast.

Most likely, Slovakia will exceed 1,000,000 total Covid-19 cases tomorrow, 2022-01-030, end of CW4 of this year and if not tomorrow, then on Monday at the very latest. Slovakia will go into the history books as the 50th nation on Earth to exceed 1,000,000 total Covid-19 cases.

Either way, we will end the month of January 2022 with our world having seen 8 nations jump over the 1,000,000-case barrier.

SLOVAKIA EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2022-01-030, 50TH NATION TO DO SO

Today, Sunday, 2022-01-030, Slovakia jumped over the 1,000,000 mark in total C19 cases:

    2022-01-030 Slovakia goes over 1,000,000 - worldometer closeup.png

    2022-01-030 Slovakia goes over 1,000,000 - worldometer.png

The Slovakian values may or may not change a tad by tomorrow morning, they are therefore currently semi-final.
Because Slovakia went over 1,000,000 cases on a Sunday, I can screenshot the excel table:

    2022-01-030 Slovakia goes over 1,000,000 - excel table.png

Here you can see a massive 2-fold jump in +cases in CW4 over CW3, also a more than 2-fold jump in +cases in CW3 over C2.

With Slovakia's entrance into the million-club, that makes for the 8th nation that has crossed over the million mark in 2022 and the 50th overall. The first 42 nations crossed over that line in 2020-2021.

Here the updated millions club table:

    2022-01-030 Slovakia goes over 1,000,000 -millions club.png

The month of January 2022 has set by far a new record for the number of nations to spring over the million-fence in just that month, namely, 8.

5 nations directly under Slovakia in the rankings have broken over 900,000 cases (Nepal, Bulgaria, Croatia, Lebanon and Tunisia) and in the 800,000-900,000 range, South Korea is moving faster than any of those five. It is entirely possible that even more nations will break over the 1,000,000-mark in February 2022 than did so in January 2022 and interestingly enough, 4 of the 5 above 900,000 had been moving so slowly in November, 2021, I had practically written them off. In fact, both Bulgaria and Tunisia were removed from the official tracking for a while and then returned to said tracking.

BTW, the 10,000,000-club is going to grow by two early in the coming week: Spain and Germany. And France will also enter the 20,000,000 club this coming week.

    Life comes at us fast.

Friday, 2022-01-028 and Saturday, 2022-01-029 set no records and clearly show the Omikron-wave plateau'ing worldwide right now, while steadily going on the downslope in the USA:

    2022-01-029 WORLDWIDE 000.png

    And the USA:

    2022-01-029 USA 000.png

Here the raw data, Worldometer, by +cases, for both days (final stats using the "2 days ago" function, respectively):

    2022-01-028 Worldwide 005 -plus cases.png 2022-01-028 Worldwide 006 -plus cases.png 2022-01-028 Worldwide 007 -plus cases.png

Throughout the month of January, 2022, in spite of moving to a calendar week system, I continued tracking the daily worldwide and USA values as the omikron wave exploded, but now that it is abating, after today, 2022-01-031, I will not be doing that anymore and simply recording all values for the worldwide composite and (currently) 74 nations just once a week.

    NO Critical Thinking here....

What about our hospital, Nursing Homes, LTCF, and Old Age Homes WORKERS/STAFF?

If infected, should they isolate, or keep working?

You asked for (and advocated for) the very same things I advocated for in my post you quoted.

Nursing home staff and nursing home occupants should be quarantined, for example.

REFERENCE LINK, 2022 EDITION (new standing disclaimer as of 2022, written December 31,2021, online libraries, screenshot overflow links) / Also: OLDER EXCEL TRACKING DATA (2020-2021)

COVID-19 WEEKLY concise analysis: 2022-01-024 (Monday) through 2022-01-030 (Sunday)
(UTC +0, Greenwich = 20:00 UTC -5, East Coast of the USA)
    CALENDAR WEEK 04
Worldwide and 'dreadnaught' nations from 10,000,000 COVID-19 cases upwards

THE SIG-FILE EXCEL TRACKING CURRENTLY ENCOMPASSES WORLDWIDE FIGURES + 74 NATIONS
Currently, the figures for worldwide composite figures and 8 of the 74 tracked nations are published here as screenshots on a weekly basis.
Spain and Germany will join the weekly analyses at the end of CW 05.

    WORLDWIDE:
    ΏΏΏ֍֍֍֍֍֍֍****** 376,527,988 ******֍֍֍֍֍֍֍ΏΏΏ
Our world added slightly less cases in CW04 than in CW03. Wave crested?
    +23,464,665 weekly cases // daily avg = 3,352,095 = 2,327.8 new cases every minute,
    tendency: falling

+67,397 weekly deaths // daily avg = 9,628 = 6.7 new deaths every minute, tendency: rising
MANY NATIONS EXCEEDED THE NEXT MILLION MARK
SLOVAKIA EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL C19-CASES, 50th NATION TO DO SO

FOR THE OTHER MAJOR RUBRIK CHANGES DURING THIS TIME, SEE RUBRIK TABLE BELOW

    -----------------------------------------

    2022-01-030 WORLDWIDE 000.png

The 4th full week of 2022 set no new records and may very well mark the point where the Omikron wave has either crested or is now plateau'ing. Our world hit the highest 7-day average point on 2022-01-025 and the statistic appears to be sloping off. The two major factors in this are the discernable decrease in +cases in the USA and India, somewhat offset by a large rise in cases in the UK, Germany and Russia. So, the end figures for CW5 will tell us if the Omikron wave really has peaked or if we are entering the malaise of a long plateau.

Another sign that the Omikron wave is likely cresting is the fact that +deaths are rising, but they are not rising on the order they did during the wild variant (before vaccines), during the winter wave 2020-2021 or during the Delta wave(s).

You will notice that the bar for "dreadnaught" nations was raised after the end of 2021 from 5,000,000 total cases to 10,000,000 total cases. At the end of Q1, that bar will be raised again, to 20,000,000 total cases. Unbelievable and yet, here we are...

The excel table now calculates weekly cases, deaths and tests (instead of daily) and that the averages are daily averages as they were before, but are no longer rolling averages. That's a difference with an important distinction. Should you have any questions about the new format of the excel tables, feel free to ask here on this thead.

Also, the new rubrik worksheet now calculates weekly (or where appropriate, quarterly) values and the exact date of a rubrik change is listed next to the country itself. I've also added the rubrik of 1,000,000 total deaths and 1,000,000,000 total tests.

    2022-01-030 WORLDWIDE 000 - rubrik worktable.png

    Also, the history excerpt:

I've added something new to the weekly analyses, namely a table like the one I used for EOM and of course, will now use for EOQ and EOY, here sorted only for cases, top 74-nations (in my tracking) first by, + avg cases, descending:

You can see that in this last week, 7 nations added more than +1,000,000 cases to their count and 8 nations added more than +100,000 cases per day (the week before, it was also 8 such nations). Our world ended the week averaging circa +3.3 MILLION cases per day. That pace, if continued would bring our world close to 1.6 BILLION total C19 cases by the end of 2022, to note.

Here the same 74-nation list, sorted by growth rate:

This particular sorting of the data is MOST instructive. Worldwide, the growth-rate in +cases was 6.23%, with Croatia (rank 39) coming closest to the worldwide growth rate. 17 nations had over 10% growth rate, with Norway, Denmark and Japan vastly outstripping the pack at between 18-19%. The USA was under the worldwide growth rate, a sure sign that the wave is ebbing in my homeland. South Africa shows a virtual stillstand in cases, and at a comparatively low level at that. Omikron is dying out in the land where it originated, roughly 10 weeks after it started. I would think that this is an important piece of info for all of us to think about. @CenterField, @nopartisanbull - what say you two?

For the end of CW04 of 2022 (for which I just published a concise analysis, nöööö), I reprogrammed the "under 1,000,000" table to see how many nations from rank 51 to 74 in my current tracking are likely to go over the million-mark by the end of Q1 of this year.

So, here the table, first in descending order of total cases:

    2022-01-030 nations under 1,000,000 -001.png

And in here the ascending order to days needed at the current average +case rate in order to get to 1,000,000:

    2022-01-030 nations under 1,000,000 -002.png

In January, 2022, 8 nations went over the million mark and right now, if these stats hold, 9 nations will go over the 1,000,000 during February 2022. with as many as 6 of them probably jumping over the fence during CW6 (between 2022-02-007 and 2022-02-013). Bulgaria may even do this at the end of CW05.

If you want to extend that out to the end of this Quarter in 2022, then right now it looks like a sum total of 15 nations that will go over the mark, plus the 8 that already did it in January, would mean 23 nations already in just one Quarter in 2022.

The rest of the nations on this list are currently not likely to exceed 1,000,000 total cases during this quarter, but they are practically guaranteed to do this during this year. Even if Belarus's daily +case haul were to suddenly be reduced by 50%, it would still cross over 1,000,000 by the end of this year.

Of course, this can change and some of it will. At the beginning of the year, it did not look as if Australia would go over the 1,000,000-mark and then two weeks later, it did just that.

This kind of table is nothing more than one snapshot in time, but at least it gives us a basis to work with.

And we don't know if Omikron will be the last variant. I hope that it will be, but who knows.

I am pretty sure that my weekly tracking will be extended to about 100 nations by the end of this year.

@Statistikhengst It is great that Omicron seems to be gone from South Africa 10 weeks after it started. But I'm so tired of feeling optimistic and then seeing the virus throwing another curveball at us, that I won't be celebrating anytime soon. In my state, it seems like we finally turned the corner and new cases are dropping but in my hospital the number of newly infected employees unfortunately remains at a steady pace which is putting enormous strain on the workforce. I am so sick and tired of this, which is why I haven't replied much about this topic.

Monday, 2022-01-031 reflected a definite turnaround in the Omikron-wave both worldwide and most definitely in the USA. 2022-01-031 is also the last day where I am logging the daily stats for worldwide and my homeland; as of February, just like the other 73 tracked nations, I will officially record the US and worldwide composite numbers just once a week and be done with it.

Since 2022-01-031 was also EOM January, but I don't write EOM analyses anymore, I thought that at least some barebones information would be nice to have.

First, just for fun, the tracking tree (anything in red means a move up the tree, either numeric in terms of bar being raised or in terms of jumping into the next bracket:

    2022-01-031 Tracking Tree.png

8 nations jumped over the 1,000,000-mark in January 2022, but only 7 nations are listed in red in the 1,000,000-2,000,000 catergory because Australia not only surpassed 1,000,000 in January 2022, it also surpassed 2,000,000. In fact, at EOY 2021, Australia was the very last country name on this tree...

So, here the raw data and the WorldOmeter data-excerpt (just one screenshot) and some commentary:

Worldwide, we jumped +90,456,394 (+90.5 MILLION) cases in just one month, from EOY 2021 to EOM January 2022. We also jumped +240,889 deaths in the same time frame. To put that into context, in Janary 2022, in just one month, we added considerably more +cases than the world accumulated during ALL of the year 2020. You can also see from the daily stats that the Monday haul for 2022-01-031 was less than both Mondays before, showing a verifiable progression on the downslope.

    2022-01-031 WORLDWIDE 000.png

In the USA, we jumped +20,548,388 (+20.6 MILLION) cases in just one month, from EOY 2021 to EOM January 2022. BTW, that is exactly 22.72% of all worldwide +cases for this same time-frame. The also also jumped +64,239 deaths in the same time frame, which is 26.67% of all worldwide +deaths during this time. You can also see from the daily stats that the Monday haul for 2022-01-031 was less than all three Mondays before, showing a verifiable progression on the downslope in the USA. Kathy Hochul, the Governor of the state of New York, noted the very quick "drying-out" of cases in her state.

    2022-01-031 USA 000.png

    2022-01-031Worldwide 005 -plus cases (excerpt).png

At the same time, although worldwide we may have crested the wave, in some places, it is still growing, for instance, in the Netherlands, which for the first time in it's history posted over +100,000 cases in one day. That's 0.7% of the total population of the Netherlands, in just one single day.

So, it's an uneven thing, but the USA is showing the same abrupt dropoff in +cases that South Africa showed, and in roughly the same time-frame.

I suspect that by mid-March, 2022, things will be looking very differently than they looked in January, 2022.

We have just started today, Thursday, 2022-02-003 with barely over 385,000,000 total C-19 cases (+8,500,000 since the CW04 analysis from 2020-01-030) and today is shaping up to be a major day in the C-19 history of our world in terms of rubrik changes. If all goes as projected then:

-the USA will exceed 77,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases
-INDIA will exceed 42,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases
-BRAZIL will exceed 26,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases
-FRANCE will exceed 20,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases (30.6% of that nation's population, to note)
-POLAND will exceed 5,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases
-ISRAEL will exceed 3,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases (33% of that nation's population, to note)
-GREECE will exceed 2,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases

Today, Russia has already clocked-in with over +150,000 fresh cases (+155,768, to be exact); it just shot over the 12,000,000-mark yesterday, 2022-02-002. Today is the first time that Russia has hit the +150,000-mark.

Also today, South Korea just reported right under +24,000 cases and is now over 900,000 total cases, making for 6 nations currently over 900,000, all fast approaching the million mark in the next days: Bulgaria, Nepal, Croatia, Lebanon, Tunisia and South Korea.

Also, currently at 827,585 but moving just as fast as South Korea, is Norway (which showed the highest growth rate of all 74 tracked nations in the CW4 analysis, to note). As fast as both South Korea and Norway are moving, all 7 will likely cross over the 1,000,000 mark by Thursday/Friday of next week, but in this order: Bulgaria (51st), South Korea (52nd), Croatia (53rd), Lebanon (54th), Nepal (55th), Norway (56th) and Tunisia (57th). This is all pretty much guaranteed to have happened and Bulgaria will probably already get there by this weekend already.

Yesterday, 2022-02-002, Germany scored the 3rd highest ranking in +cases, behind the USA and France. Japan is getting closer and closer to +100,000 cases but the UK, Ireland, Spain, Belgium and Australia are all showing a marked decrease in +cases over this time one week ago. Also, in the first three days of this week, the USA has travelled less than +1,000,000 cases (+934,341), a marked reduction over the week before at this time.

We are most definitely seeing the first phase (+case expansion) of the Omikron wave pass in most of my 74 tracked nations. Now remains to be seen if +deaths shoot up in the 2nd phase. Until now, in South Africa, that has not been the case. But then again, South Africa never had +100,000 cases per day, let alone +1,000,000 (which happened in the USA at least twice). Wait and see.

And then there is the theme of LONG COVID, which we cannot even begin to answer vis-a-vis Omikron until months from now on down the road.
