Hi, all. I believe that the best COVID-19 treatment protocol currently available is the MATH+ endorsed by the FLCCCA (Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance), designed by Dr. Paul Marik, Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. This protocol is based on 260 scientific studies, and is rock-solid. Hospitals adopting it have seen a sharp decrease in mortality.

This protocol not only includes advanced recommendations that would be useful to inform an attending physician treating a case of severe disease (it's good to have a copy and give it to your doctor or your loved one's doctor in case one of you develops severe Covid-19), but also has recommendations for prophylaxis (before you contract the infection) and for home management of mild cases.

It is periodically updated, and Dr. Marik has updated it again, on 9/24.

So the first two parts of the protocol are accessible to non-doctors self-medicating at home given that most of the drugs are over-the-counter (except for ivermectin which is a prescription medicine - NEVER use veterinarian ivermectin for a human; you need to get this from your primary care provider and a pharmacy, to get the human-approved tablets; also except for interferon alfa but that's just for healthcare workers with constant exposure).

My wife and I are following this to the letter. I'll post it here in case someone else wants to follow it too, especially older people with underlying medical conditions such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes, asthma, etc.

The link for the complete protocol is this:

    https://www.evms.edu/media/evms_pub...cine/EVMS_Critical_Care_COVID-19_Protocol.pdf

    Prophylaxis:

    • Melatonin (slow release): Begin with 0.3mg and increase as tolerated to 2 mg at night
    • Vitamin D3 2000-4000 units/day
    • Vitamin C 500 mg BID (twice daily) and Quercetin 250 mg daily
    • Zinc 50-75 mg/day (elemental zinc). Zinc lozenges are preferred. After 1 month, reduce the dose to 30-50 mg/day.
    • Famotidine 20-40 mg/day
    • Optional/Experimental: Interferon-α nasal spray for health care workers
    • Optional: Ivermectin for postexposure prophylaxis (see ClinTrials.gov NCT04422561)

OK, this paper they mention is the following: in a randomized controlled trial, ivermectin given in 2 doses 72 hours apart made the incidence of infection among household members when one person is a confirmed Covid-19 case, from 58.4% to 7.4% Doses: for body weight of 40 to 60 kg, 15mg. For 60-80, 18mg. For greater than 80kg, 24mg.

Melatonin, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Quercetin, Zinc, and Famotidine (Pepcid) are all available on Amazon.com without the need for a prescription.

Next post, treatment of a mild case of Covid-19 at home

Now, for a mild case at home:

    • Vitamin C 500 mg BID and Quercetin 250-500 mg BID
    • Zinc 75-100 mg/day (elemental zinc)
    • Melatonin 6-12 mg at night (the optimal dose is unknown)
    • Vitamin D3 2000-4000 u/day
    • ASA 81 -325 mg/day (unless contraindicated). (ASA = aspirin)
    • Famotidine 40 mg BID (reduce dose in patients with renal dysfunction)
    • Optional: Ivermectin 150-200 micrograms/kg orally (dose can be repeated on day 2)
    • Optional: Interferon-α/β s/c, nasal spray or inhalation. It should be noted that Zinc potentiates the effects of interferon.[53,54]
    • Optional: Vascepa (Ethyl eicosapentaenoic acid) 4g daily or Lovaza (EPA/DHA) 4g daily; alternative DHA/EPA 4g daily. Vascepa and Lovaza tablets must be swallowed and cannot be crushed, dissolved or chewed. There are similar formulations of Omega 3 Fish Oil with high EPA and DHA content at Amazon.com as well.
    • In symptomatic patients, monitoring with home pulse oximetry is recommended (due to asymptomatic hypoxia). The limitations of home pulse oximeters should be recognized, and validated devices are preferred. Multiple readings should be taken over the course of the day, and a downward trend should be regarded as ominous. Baseline or ambulatory desaturation < 94% should prompt hospital admission.

Buy a pulse oxymeter from Amazon.com or your pharmacy. The following guidance is suggested:
o Use the index or middle finger; avoid the toes or ear lobe
o Only accept values associated with a strong pulse signal
o Observe readings for 30-60 seconds to identify the most common value
o Remove nail polish from the finger on which measurements are made
o Warm cold extremities prior to measurement

    ---------

If you or your loved ones have followed all of the above but the pulse ox falls below 94%, then go to a hospital, and if you want to continue to be treated according to the MATH+ protocol, print it and give a copy to your attending physician, and ask him or her to consider it.

I hope that the above is useful. Stay safe!

thanks for the link but multi-vitamins and zinc are nothing new and help fend off many viruses

daily exercise ( walk, bike, anything) and sunshine also helps

and let the flamers start as well, drinking some quinine (tonic water with quinine) and making sure that your vitamins contain zinc is an extra aid as quinine is used against malaria

What many will find after the hysteria ends, and the media stops pushing their panic stories, is that a healthy lifestyle and taking supplements goes a long way to being able to combat viruses.

Who cares if it's nothing new, regarding multi-vitamins and zinc? What is important is that it seems to help.
But if you think that the whole MATH+ has nothing new... you need to read its whole 30 pages.
Quercetin, not quinine. And what does malaria have do to with Covid-19? Malaria is not caused by a virus. Are you drawing a parallel with HCQ? Newsflash, HCQ doesn't work for Covid-19. See page 6 of the protocol.
There is no hysteria. This is a dangerous disease, and this is a good treatment protocol. Period. No reason for hyperbole.
