The problem for me is (as a taxpayer) is I don't want to pay for the better life you say these people want. If I wanted to live in a sh** hole I would move to a sh** hole. You idealists want to bring the sh** hole here. I don't care what these people are looking at. We don't need swarms of uneducated and unskilled people coming to our country. As Trump points out many of these people are rapists, criminals, and come from a culture that accepts drunk driving. I have to ask - do you pay taxes? Needless to say I don't expect an honest answer. You sound like some idealistic student type who neither works nor pays taxes, i.e., a "do gooder" who wants to do good with someone else's money.
Not enough jobs???? Whose responsibility is it to make jobs? If I am having trouble finding food, I farm. If I can't find clothing, I learn to sew. It is convenient in our system that other do that for me so that I can be more singular in my efforts. I have faith in people to make the right choices. Given that, I know some will fail. I have nothing against helping those that are temporarily down....but I don't choose to do it through wealth redistribution looking down the barrel of a gun. Ultimately that is exactly what redistribution through taxation is. I understand that you look at others as "victims". That is because you have too little faith in people. One reason people look at people as victims is because that makes those "victims" ripe for exploitation. "You poor, poor victims can't possibly do for yourselves. Vote Democrat. Come to the plantation and we will supply your needs." When we look at things a little differently, it makes us independent. God, not government supplies my needs. I won't be controlled! That is what liberty is all about.
Let me make this simple. Taxes in America are intended for the public good. Not to provide livings for individuals. That goes for individuals that use food stamps so they can afford tattoos and meth as well as subsidizing corporations so CEO's get a larger salary. Both disgusting. Me? It doesn't bother me that there are others have an easier life than what I have. Others have an easier way of getting money than I do. They have different priorities. Different talents. Some are crooked in their dealings. Some do not have the eternal blessings I have. The system is not rigged. You can't make it fair for everyone. We are all so different. That is why experimentation has been done to make everyone wear Mao suits and be the same. We were created to create and that is just a fact of life.
Where are you going to farm in a big city? Sheesh. Look back to the Great Depression. We came very close to embracing socialism because rightwingers told people to rely on charity. All general taxes redistribute wealth. Are you going to fund national defense with donations? I taught people how to do business startups for years. You have no idea what I know or how I view people. Totally absurd. It would be insulting if it wasn't so stupid. I've never voted or supported a Democrat in my life. I don't take Social Security or Medicare. How about you? So, then, how will you fund national defense, police, courts, jails, public health, etc. without general taxes? Over to you...
YR ALREADY ANSWERED THAT-- "Taxes in America are intended for the public good. Not to provide livings for individuals."

In America you don't have to stay in a big city. Some feel they are "entitled to stay. That is why most larger cities on the coasts are solid blue. Socialism appeals to them.
What do you call 50,000+ apprehended crossing the border each and every month? That's only the ones they caught and they are costing us $2.6 million dollars a day just to put them in a bed, health care, meals and attorney's fees not included.
He's partially changing his tune from what he said before about redistributing wealth. How does defense research help a 95-year-old? Not that I agree with them, but what about pacifists who think we should disband our armed forces.
No change in tune. 95 year olds need defense as well as anyone. I don't know what the heck you are talking about. What about pacifists? They can go live and practice anywhere. They surely don't need to stay here. We know freedom is purchased with a price.
Defense, yes; defense research, not so much. Pacifists shouldn't have to move. They should be able to surrender here.
One thing I've learned in my life is that change is the only constant. We can't stop change, but we CAN have an impact on the kind of change that occurs. Liberals want to guide change toward making more people in our society feel they are participating in the benefits of our society. Conservatives want to protect the status quo, and safeguard the wealthy minority's lifestyle while a growing percentage of our population has less and less to enjoy. That's why I'm a liberal.
Walls--all walls--restrict movement on both sides. Walls don't know the difference between incoming & outgoing movement. Walls are a barrier to all movement, and barriers to movement are also barriers to freedoms. An electronic surveillance system is BETTER at stopping illegals than a physical wall, and does so without the oppressive presence of an eyesore. Democrats join Republicans in supporting stronger border security. But Democrats want to do it with 21st century technology rather than 4th century technology.
I agree this issue has been set aside for far too long, but I disagree on punishing welfare recipients for the delay. The inaction was completely due to wealthy politicians failing to do their job, and they are the ones who should pay.
Sometimes--actually quite often--bills are passed that are not completely what's wanted, but do signify a major step in the direction toward what is wanted. That was the case for Obamacare. It was not what was ultimately wanted, but it was a step forward--an improvement--over what existed at the time of passage. If we delay action on our dreams because we can't have it all before acting, then most dreams would remain unfulfilled. Goals are most often achieved in incremental steps. Obamacare was just that.
Watching how difficult is is to get anything approved by Congress over the past decade, I seriously doubt your assertion that Obamacare was a "planned disaster." However, I agree that it has resulted in such emotional responses from both sides, that it's made many more Americans move to the side of national healthcare as the best overall answer. I include myself in that group. Every other advanced nation on the planet has a successful national healthcare system in place, serving its citizens. We're the last holdout. And our system sucks sewer water. It's past time that we join in with the other civilized nations and adopt a national healthcare system ourselves. I think we could expand Medicare to include all of us as the easiest, most direct way, to have a successful outcome.
You just can't get enough money from them if you took it all. We have to get the money by eliminating non-essential government employees and cutting social services if you want to keep spending millions a day on detaining illegals AFTER they cross the border. Or build the wall.
In case you haven't noticed, America is the last holdout for Liberty. You can't have Socialism and Liberty.
Before Obamacare there were over 30 million Americans without access to healthcare. Obamacare reduced that number to about 17 million. How can you regard that as a "step backwards"?
Then as a liberal you'll have to convince me that right can be wrong, up can be down, boys can be girls, girls can be boys, sin can be Holy, black can be white etc. etc I'm not biting!
